GM's thread about nothing (11 Viewers)

Other boring updates:

Had to run into the dentist today because my tooth was really bothering me. He said my tooth is fine, just my gum recession is so bad that my teeth are pulling away from my gums. I guess it's good I go in for my first round of grafting next week. I CAN'T WAIT!

Slowly getting things back and running around here following the lightning strike. Next up is electrical inspection Thursday and I have to replace my garage door opener.

Wife is feeling a little better. Started seeing a new psychiatrist that specializes in chronic pain, and her headache doctor seems more committed to getting her right.

My son wanted to take some time off from organized sports, which was totally fine with us. But I really think he needs to be involved in something that can help with coordination. I am going to take him to a tae kwon do open house thing this weekend. Not sure how much, if at all, I should push it.
Could you PM me that doc's info? My wife has been getting her ### kicked by fibromyalgia for the last year, and we're getting frustrated with every doc on this side of the river being forced to join St. E. so its basically impossible to get a true second opinion over here. She's just started seeing a counselor to try to help, but a psychiatrist like you described might be even more helpful.
Done. Best of luck, man. I feel your pain.

Oh yeah, Cooper's good friend's dad (and also one of my buddies/co-coach at times) is the cousin of Tyler Eifert. Cooper asked me if Shuke might want his autograph or something. Is it sad that my sons know the team leanings of my internet friends?
Does he know him as "that doll collecting guy"?
I haven't shown him that side of Shuke yet. Right now, he thinks he's like a super hero. I don't want to destroy that illusion.

Shuke, you want my Ichiro Bobblehead? I had a King Felix but he broke.

No thanks. Reds only.

Lots of stray dogs in the states too.
NO WAY!
It's true, I've seen them.
Useless without pics and all.

NO, DON"T POST PICS.

Hey, if you didn't have two jobs now maybe you could stay busy by finding homes for animals?
Actually have found thousands of hours over the years to work with a bunch of animal groups to do so, so I don't think the jobs will interfere any more than they ever have, which is to say not at all.

Was just going through my leagues to do waivers for the week, and came upon GMTAN and realized there are no waivers! :pickle: Thanks GMTAN league for making it not tedious!

Maybe I'm not sensitive enough to 9/11, or maybe too sensitive because I did know someone on one of the planes, but the "I remember how I was going to work in" [podunk town Indiana, etc] posts on Facebook and elsewhere are making me wish to set things on fire.

People like to be part of the conversation i guess.

I was meh at first on the name. But it's grown on me a lot and the fact that we are using my first name in the middle ties it together for me. It's unique without relying on funny spellings or pronunciation. Plus the potential for teasing by her classmates and father is off the charts.

Do we have a ruling (music, appearance) on Lorde? I've only heard two of her songs but they are both pretty good. She's underage though, so keep it clean.

I like Lorde.

My good friend from college just had a little girl and named her Harriett, but they are calling her Hattie. I think it's a cute name. The John thing doesn't really bother me but remember that kids are mean and she'll probably get made fun of for having a boy's name.

Well that's always something you want for your child.

ETA: Is the middle name really John?
Yes. Let me have it. (It's five generations in my family including mine. We aren't haven't any more kids and I have will have only daughters.)
She's going to hate you.
True, but she'll probably hate him regardless of the name at some point

No kidding.

Oh and put me down for not liking the name Hattie, but it's light years better than some of the others you were considering.

I always play the rhyme game with names to see the cruelest things kids can come up with... Hope your kid is skinny

Shouldn't be an issue, she is going to be feed one spoonful at a time.

You're being selfish. A child can appreciate her family history without having to carry around a boy's name, maybe let's try not ####### her over before she's even born here.

Ok, thanks. Wasn't my idea, actually. I don't think it's the end of the world that her middle name not be something "normal". We considered her mother's middle name, her grandmother's middle name, and her great grandmother's middle name and didn't like any of the three. I am flattered and humbled that my wife suggested it.

"However, when creating this feature, I noticed some interesting abnormalities. No popular names seemed to be 100% male or female, even names that were obviously male or female. For example, according to the data, 11 females were named John in 2010, and during its peak popularity, when 80,000 males a year were being named John, the data says 200-300 females a year were being named John. Even though that means only ~0.375% of John’s were female, it still seems bizarre that someone would name a baby girl “John”. I wondered if this was a mistake on my part, but the underlying data showed the numbers to be correct."

My best friend's sister was born in Texas. Her middle name is James. According to their mother it was common for Texans to give their daughters a boy's middle name.

Also you should have gone with Porta.

If heritage is so important in Texas, why not call her "Alamo".

Maybe that will have the added benefit of making her hold out longer before she has sex.

That's somebody's fetus, guy.

But yeah, Texas executes the mentally challenged and the governor is literally Rick Perry. Let's not look to them to be a leading light for much of anything.
