GM's thread about nothing (26 Viewers)

I mentioned Cal lost his retainer yesterday at school. As Phil Harvey says, now for the rest of the story.

Cal told me what happened and I was pissed. Really pissed. In my mind though I was thinking "stupid kids. Killing me. This is all part of the deal though. Oh well."

I apparently wasn't showing that compassion visually though because Cal started trembling, then running upstairs yelling " MOM SAVE ME!!! DAD'S GOING TO KILL ME!!!".

That upset me more than anything. Looking mean isn't all it's vaged up to be.
My dad is the nicest guy on the planet...doesn't mean he didn't scare the everloving #### out of my ### on more than one occasion. It's just being a good dad.
I'm fairly certain at 64 my Dad would still kick my ###.

Currently sitting alone in the dark in a tailgate space set up for 40 people drinking beer with the radio cranked up. Man of action or pathetic drunk?
I like your style.

I told Mrs. SLB a couple weeks ago, think I posted it here, that I was probably going down to the cabin with my GB's next weekend. After my GB & his wife left tonight she got all uppity. I hate when she gets drunk sometimes. Thankfully I shut her down without an argument. Balls. Happy Birthday Krista!

I had a brilliant idea today for a website similar to gazelle.com where I buy a specific small personal electronic device for resale. The device isn't super widely-used today but I think its use will grow. eBay sales prices of it are about 66%-75% of new retail, there are there are new versions being released meaning people will be looking to upgrade and sell off. My thought is to offer somewhere around 25%-35% of retail for those looking to sell and then resell on eBay.

I checked godaddy and IBuyDevicename.com and IBuyDevicenames.com are both available... not sure about the legal implications of using the brand name in the website title though or if another name might be better. Also no clue about what it would cost to develop the website. Doesn't seem like it would take a huge upfront outlay and it could be a decent side endeavour.

Appreciate the thoughts of Abe and you other smart folks.
I own a website domain. That's all I got.

Dylan was taught in school that alcohol is a drug. He even told me so last week. "Daddy, did you know that alcohol is a drug?". Then tonight I was pouring a whiskey and he says "DADDY stop doing drugs!".

Now talk about a look that would kill. If I would have said something like that to my Dad. Whoa. Now I would have been beaten. Shredder is lucky he could read the situation and S T FU. Go suck a dick Tanner.

After DARE class I told my dad that they told us booze was a drug. He patted me on the head, chuckled and said "That's nice" and took a sip of his brandy manhattan.

That was the last we ever spoke of it.

Today I imagined what I think would be the pinnacle of Human Experience: A Jeopardy! game contested by all women, all three end up in the red, and there is no Final Jeopardy!

See, because women are stupid.

Need the device. Why? Because logistics and shipping charges matter and gross total will affect your room for margin. Gazelle works because apple people will pay more - there is a reason they only buy apple stuff. So, spill it. No one is going to steal your idea.
Nike Fuelband. Tracks activity levels throughout the day, measures sleep, retails for $150. Obviously not a "needed" item but something people into fitness and tech will buy. These things are only a couple of ounces so shipping costs would be minimal and it's scalable, so a huge upfront investment in logistics isn't necessary.

Interesting. First order of business is that freight charges are going to be really really low, which is good.

One thing thAt comes to mind is that your immediate dollars of margin aren't great. Let's say you buy then for $50 each and sell for $100 in eBay. Listing costs, shipping both ways, packaging...you might net around $30-40 a unit if everything goes to plan (no returns, all items sell on the first listing, etc). Amazon will actually store the items and handle the logistics for you for a really low fee which helps. You definitely need an online system - don't want to drive around Houston picking these things up from people on Craigslist.

Still thinking ...

 $30-40 of margin on a $50 item seems pretty solid to me.I'm envisioning when someone sells me their item, I send them a prepaid envelope and they return to my PO box. Once I get it and verify everything's good, they get paid. I haven't actually used gazelle, and might just to see the process from the consumer end, but I imagine this is pretty much how they do it.

My Dad drinks Manhattans. Are you my brother?
Does your mom drink them too? Dry or sweet? :oldunsure:
My mom drinks everything
Are you my son?
:tebow:

I want to get my brother a GPS dog tracker for X-Mas because his dog has a habit of wandering off. Based on a quick search it looks like this is the best option out there. Pretty mixed reviews though. I feel like with technology where it is today there should be better products available.

So we loaded up early to go to south Texas for my mother in laws birthday. Two hours in the group already there calls us to say that half are going to robstown (30 minutes) and half are going to Sinton (1 hour) to watch various nieces rodeo and we will meet up somewhere at some point in the evening to eat together.

So we turned around and are now about to go to the San Antonio zoo.

Went to Celts game last night and got silly hammered and threw up for the first time in almost a year. Stayed at my buddy's place in Boston, got about 2 hours of sleep and left the city at 7 this morning (avoiding parade traffic) and made it in time to see Little 'Zooks last soccer game.

Highlight of last night (besides watching my buddy motor boat some random chick with wild cleavage after I bet him 4 bucks that he wouldn't do it) Before the game we were having beers and shots at a bar near the Garden and when we walk outwe literally walk right into Dave Cowens. I look at him and say "whoa Dave f***ing Cowens" He looks at me and says "how'd you know my middle name" He winked and walked away.

What did I do this time?

My parents and aunt and uncle showed up about 11 last night. Ended up tailgating until 2:30 am.

Took jr back down at 10:30. Things were escalating with the tailgate group this afternoon. Drunk girls were knocking tables over, shots were being poured. I had to sit it out since, unlike certain Southern belles, I had to make sure my four year old got home safe.

I already regret not coming down there, but I had redneck engineering to do this morning, and that plus the gym have me wiped. If I went to the tailgate, I wouldn't get home safe.

Electric fence is pretty cheap.

I like the way you make of names of cities though.

:lmao: This is my favorite part. It's like the beginning of Stripes. :lmao:
