GM's thread about nothing (29 Viewers)

Don't think I'll be invited back to Microsoft for any future speaking engagements. I think I sufficiently pisssed off the other presenter by not talking about Microsoft at all and instead talking about sales and marketing. He has talked about that too but his presentation was boring and mine was awesome (channeling my inner Bentley). All 18 attendees asked for a business card from me though, which is awesome.
I hope you responded loudly with, "I'll just shoot you the info from my iPhone."

I just wish I had thought up that Elf on a Shelf thing. Actually I just wish I could come up with some bull#### product that people think they need and make millions.

Somewhere there's a guy out there sleeping on a bed of money thanks to the Pool Noodle.
should have gotten in on the ground level of crappycatgifs.com

Bet you that guy's making :boatloads:

Zooks, did you ever send checks for your HR pool?
I was trying to hold off to avoid paying you since you might die soon since you've been having chest pains and stuff and 3 out of every 4 people you know seem to die......but apparently NOTHING CAN KILL YOU!!!!!

But funny you mention the checks, I did successfully create a PayPal account after giving up on PayPal a couple years ago when I kept screwing up the signup process with different email addresses. Not sure why, but for some reason it was like PayPal was NetFlix and I was slightly tanned GM. Anyhoos..... you, Frosty, Gusty and COS pm me your emails and I will utilize the magical PayPal. (thats how it works, right? I put in your email and money magically goes to your bank account?)
:lmao:

It has been around since my Mom, so I guess you, was a kid.

Just had a brioche mushroom back burger from Wendy's since I'm an OCD sucker and HAVE to try anything new that sounds good. I'm going to give this and 8/10. It's a tasty burger.

Hmmmmm

I didn't hear about this abomination until just a couple of years ago.

Not sure when the FatGuys thread starts up, but I am getting a head start on the activities. My Dad's latest scare was contributed to our "Western Diet", and lately my diet has been so Western it's wearing bolo ties.

Got on the scale at 215.2, with a goal weight of 175. Right about the time of my seperation, I was down to 188, so close to my goal, but so far away. It's time.

My first goal is to stay away from fast food, the main source of my intake the last 12 months. I've gone back to oatmeal for breakfast and soup for lunch. Water and black coffee during the day. That will total around 400 calories from the beginning of the day until evening. I've bought my first Crock Pot and had my first successful creation, and will get 3-4 dinners out of it. Shopped the outside of the grocery store and actually bought some fruit and sliced veggies for snacks. Only one bag of chips left in the house, and will slowly work down the multiple boxes of cereal still in the pantry.

The oatmeal, soup and some ingredients I cook with are still more processed than I like, but it's a start. Much better than the greasy bag of goodness I have been putting in my piehole.

Now about beer..... still working that out.

I've only read this far into the post and already I can't wait.

Wow, neat board. This is by MOP in the interview/salary thread. I'd write that in an edit underneath that mangled quote, but you know, I can't actually get below it. Nice board.

Interesting topic AZ and I want to weigh in

with some things that might help the 20 and 30 somethings in our audience.

Is this what you were trying to post?

The biggest challenge I have form companies interested in me is that they are cheap or that the pot of gold is not all that when the curtain is pulled back.

A company wants to see my W-2s in sales…well then I need to see the incomes of all the sale people they currently have. Don't tell me this has 6 figure potential when out of the current 7-8 sales people you have, the avg income is roughly 40k-50k a year and that's IF you have anyone that has stayed here long enough to show a whole 12 month cycle.

I would say BS, you are showing a great deal of naivety and I don't mean that as a put down, if I'm coming across gruff then I apologize but in the world I live in which is sales, it is dog eat dog.

I'm not a fun interview for most companies but I have something they want, something they crave, something that most companies have unfortunately cut back on during the last few years. I have the ability to walk in and make it rain, I have a full understanding of sales and have worked in Fortune 500 companies and also mom n pop start ups.

Good salespeople are a unique breed. There are many pretenders and there are many lazy folks who get into sales for the wrong reasons but good salespeople are almost like an artist and you have to allow them to do their thing. I'm not even sure if sales is really teachable. You can teach the basics but bottom line is a good salesperson has to sell themselves, that's what people buy not the actual product. If an employer cannot size that up inside of spending 3-5 minutes or less with me, well then we're wasting both our time.

Put it another way, a company that spends time with me, wants to hire me, knows I'm the right guy but is so caught up on this W-2 or salary history is probably not the right company for me. And since I got burned by Lehman Brothers back in 2007 I haven't really thirsted for Corporate America/Wallstreet type jobs. If Google wants to hire me but wants to see W-2s, that's a different story but the local outfit with 20 employees trying to make a name for themselves can go #### themselves if they think I am going to bend over the desk, spread my cheeks, and let them take in a big whiff of my fat hairy ###.

Have some pride people!

You can dooo eeet!

Oh man that was fantastic. He's just the gift that keeps on giving.

Way to try and put yourself out there like you're better than me. You just ran the perfect example of what I was trying to show. You are oblivious if you think Fortune 500 companies don't do shady things or do not operate as such.

You think you're better than me and that's exactly my point thru the thread so thanks BS. BTW do you want to see who made more money last year? Want to post your W-2 here vs what I did in my pitiful dark underbelly of society world in which I operate in? What do you sell?

Let me help you get down off that high horse, wouldn't want you to trip and kill yourself.

Truck> I'm going to let you make the obligatory deadbeat dad comment in response to that MoP trainwreck. Merry Christmas.

I've got a meeting with a mom in about 5 minutes. She sent me an email yesterday asking if we could meet to discuss "an issue" with her son.

It might have something to do with me almost calling the kid "stupid" on Friday.*

* I really didn't call him stupid but told him "I need you to let me know if you're just being sarcastic or playing dumb. I guess the third choice is that you're actually stupid but I know you really aren't."

How is that meeting worthy? My parents would have told me to stop being dumb.

Tasty confirmed

:goodposting: Then my Dad would have punched me in the face.

Just pitched a compensation package for 2014 unlike anything anyone else at this firm has. I'm not sure how well it went.
