GM's thread about nothing (55 Viewers)

Back in high school I never sat at the cool kids table during lunch. This is that place I think, just morphed into a singular message board thread. So many buttons. I call this seat, I think I will write my name on it with a permanent marker.
I don't think you've got this thread figured out as well as you think you do. Anyone's welcome, But if you act like you're owed something and we should fawn over you, it's going to go about like it's going. Grow some hard bark, pull up a chair, make a shot video, and relax a bit.
Pickles> can we take this one out back and shoot it? TIA
why?
Yeah, "hard bark" has some pretty solid shtick-history going for it.
Like pre-history?

i'm bored of trying to pass the time until my 3:30 shows up. who the heck schedules a meeting at 3:30 the friday before a long weekend anyway? i was totally going to go home and take a nap before picking my daughter up from school too, but my boss wanted to talk with this guy about some work we're going to do for him. i should probably just go meditate or something

Are you suggesting napping and meditating are different?

I don't remember the exact scene - but I'm talking about Jessie Pinkman.
yeah, K4 is talking about the dooshbag who Walt sees at the bank and then later at the gas station. He blows up his car while he's inside. Not talking about the same thing here.
KENWINS
This was a lowpoint in the show probably and not really necessary. It just shows Walter's balls growing and his frustration with his lot in life. It all gets better Krista.
OK, good. I'm sticking with it.

Yes, I got what they were trying to portray there; the sledgehammer they took to my head with it had that effect. Might as well have added a voiceover explaining what was going on, while they were at it.

The whole Kellen Winslow masturbating/weed/Boston Market story sounds like a story that one of us would tell in here.
go on...
“As she stood near the open driver-side window of the Escalade, she observed the males erect penis,” the report said. “She stated she believed he was masturbating.”

The woman, whose name is redacted in the report, then notified police.

Winslow’s genitals were not exposed when an officer arrived at the parking lot to question him, but the cop said he did observe “two open containers of Vaseline on his center console.” Winslow told the officer that he had pulled into the parking lot to get directions for a Boston Market.

The cop also spotted “many empty plastic containers of Funky Monkey” and “plastic bags of Mr. Happy” scattered in the vehicle.

“He stated that he smokes the ‘legal’ synthetic marijuana to help him relax,” the police report said. “He said he purchases the items via the Internet and at local gas stations. He added that the NFL does not test for synthetic marijuana.”

How about our Gophers!
I always mean to ask, why "down with Goldy" if you are a Gopher fan? Just don't like the goofy mascot?
Yes
Terrible.
The mascot or Frosty? I can't tell where your meanness is being aimed.
Frosty of course. Goldy is the best mascot ever.
Does he wear pants?

There is a lot of that in BB, tbh.

You haven't even met some of the best characters yet.

:( Hopefully will be balanced by the best characters I haven't met yet.

I know it's really early in the show, and pretty much everyone in the world says it takes a while to get good, so I'm optimistic. His sidekick (sorry don't know names yet) has developed into a more interesting character already. I'm just disappointed because the last TV show I watched was Wires, which was fantastic from the first moment.

remembering the day that Martin Luther King, Jr died on a cross for our sins so we could plant trees, remember people who fought in wars and dress up in costumes going door to door begging for candy... or something like that

 Can I just stay home and drink? Wait, that's like every Monday.

I like Mad Men because I want to drink at work
From the 1.5 seasons I've watched that seems to be the whole point of the show. Except when they take a break from the drinking to highlight how everyone smokes. And to show Christina Hendricks' boobs.

Sorry, but it is a long weekend so you never know.

Interesting that "chicken" is now synonymous with masturbation. "choke the chicken" "crock pot chicken" and now "looking for Boston Market".

Made my mom cry today. :(
I was reading James Altucher's blog on change this morning and one section made me think of you and your new job:
GUILT.

Lets say you are leaving a relationship or a job or an agreement. I can tell you: someone is ready to make you feel guilty about this.

Its hard not to feel guilt, particularly if someone is sad because of what you are doing to them.

But much worse is the guilt you will feel if you dont make the change your body and the universe is telling you to make. The universe is much bigger than the person on the other side. To go against that flow will make you sink and drown.
http://www.jamesaltucher.com/2014/01/why-2014-is-the-year-you-change/

I'm probably the last guy to listen to on this, but your mom is a grown-up. She'll get over being sad. You have your family's well-being as your number one priority and it sounds like you've made the right choice for them and for you.

The Wire is the best show of all-time. Breaking Bad is top 5 though, and much of that stems from how great the overall story ends up and the strongest final season of any show, ever. Watching these 2 powerhouses back to back could certainly affect your feelings on BB.

This is exactly right. Thank you for posting this. Basically, I am trying to approach it like that. I'm sad, she's sad, but I am also really excited and know this is the best thing for my little family to be overall. My mom is retired, she can visit whenever she wants. Luckily my mom and wife have a really nice relationship. It will be ok for everybody. Just bad timing with my mom's father being an ###, and me moving the unborn grandchild. But it will all work out for the best.

Thanks again. :)

I thought you said you were on Season 2 or 3 or something which is why I was so confused. I just looked up this episode and you're just 4 episodes in so yeah, stay with it.

How about our Gophers!
Buckeyes, more like "SUCK-eyes." High five?
Memphis? More like SUCK-phis!
you shut your whore mouth
Not the city, the college that lost to UCONN last night. I've never been to the city.

It's too crime-y.
oh, you can bash the city all you want. you just shut your whore mouth about the Tigers.

Although I am pretty pissed about the loss.

I worked summers at a truck manufacturing plant in college and the white guys used to bring in fried chicken and watermelon for the black guys on Juneteenth, which is Emancipation Day in Texas. That doesn't seem to be the kind of thing you should be able to get away with.
