GM's thread about nothing (87 Viewers)

Oh yeah, I've seen this.

None of this is entirely accurate, but yeah, it's pretty awful. The flatlands are just a black hole that I very rarely ever go into.
So, how close is all of that two where the A's play? I got lost trying to find the stadium a few years ago and was going through what looked to a white kid from the south, a pretty rough neighborhood.

Oh, and we can't scan things at work. We haven't had a working scanner in 2 years. What I've been told is the bookkeeper who works in a home office (founder's house) 30 minutes from my office has a scanner. I'm supposed to fax her the doc to be scanned, she will scan it, save it and email it back.

And if we have to print anything over 50 pages (which, to close deals our documents are about 100 pages plus duplicate) I have to go to FedEx or UPS.
I really don't mean to sound like a ####, but these things aren't uncommon at three person startups regardless of revenue. AirBNB was doing six figures a month before they had a single IT resource on staff and it's a ducking tech company! Download a photo to PDF app (free) to your phone. Expense the fedex bill if it's a big deal. These things are inconvenient but they aren't derailing deals.
That is ridiculous and it should not take a trip to kinkos to print a routine document. Christ, a decent multi-function scanner/laser printer/fax can be had for like $200.
I don't disagree. But there is a difference between things that suck and things that are broken.

This is a somebody famous, right?

Not fishing for blog hits, just can't figure out who this is.
Can't link right, the first girl at the bottom.
whoever the second girl is she is doing it wrong. when a girl takes a mirror pic her clothes are supposed to be off.
Sorry Frosty I don't know who she is. I only knew the broad from the other article because my GB is boning dating her and I facebook stalked my way into friending her after we got drunk one night.

Also, phrozen, didn't you used to have a Mr T avatar? I keep thinking your someone else.

Abe, I really appreciate your comments and it is helpful for me to quit whining and just work harder. Having said that, this guy needs to pony up a little bit or bring somebody in that well. Just like your boss, this business can easily grow, if you just manage the damn thing.

Edit: Damn autocorrect.

One of the biggest myths in business is that things will scale so long as there is revenue. More of anything - people, customers, office space, toner cartridges, web servers - mean more things that can go wrong. Improper management now will be catastrophic later.

Let's play "posting from his phone, or Freudian slip?" You start.

What's the protocol for job interview follow up? Need some help.

Interview was last Tuesday. Had two interviews and thought it went great both times. Two people from same company. Emailed thank you right after, recruiter replied that day. They knew the baby would occupy the rest of the week. Emailed Friday afternoon to say "I'm back available to talk if needed". No reply. Any point in trying again? Email over phone? Tomorrow? Next week? Never?

yep that was me - when my animated gif MrT avatar was removed, I went to a static one for a while and switched to Spaceballs about 2 months ago

$100, pay 3 spots.

5x5 roto. OBP instead of AVG.

28 roster spots + 2 DL. 1300 max IP.

Draft will be here. You must be willing to provide your cell number.

I'd really like some GMTANers to take the last couple spots.
Sorry but I only provide my cell number TO PEOPLE I'VE MET IN PERSON.
You realize I have yours, right?
oh bull ####.

I would follow up with a phone call to the recruiter. Enough time has passed since you emailed that you could call today.

"I was calling to confirm my status as a candidate?"

"I was calling to check in and see if the process would be continuing for me?"

"I was calling to ask for pics to post in the JIMMER?"

?

"Calling to follow up on my interview last week and to see if any decision has been made."
Both interviews ended with discussion of "next steps" which include a minimum of two more interviews. So maybe something like...

"Calling to follow up on my interview last week to see if we would be moving forward with the next set of interviews?"

####.

I'm going against the grain here and saying you shouldn't call. They know where you are, and you've already reaffirmed your interest once. When I was hiring I hated the people who did the constant follow-ups. They will get to you when they have a decision on whether you made it to the next round.

If you do call, don't ask if you will be moving forward. Ask when the next interviews will be.

Actually kind of leaning this direction, mostly because if I don't call then I can still believe I have a chance at the job.

I'm thinking this is good posting.

When I'm hiring, I know who my candidates are. One calling me over and over isn't going to change that.

Has the opposite effect at some point and makes me think they're desperate.

Abe, I wouldn't get too down in thinking you didn't get it. It's only been about a week!

I think the thing is that I heard back so quickly when setting up the interview. I talked to the recruiter at 10am and was talking to the manager of the position three hours later. Both talked about next steps and the recruiter told me the manager and his boss would be in town last Thurs/Frid and this Thurs/Friday, which I presume would have been a great time to do the next interview. Seemed like they wanted to move quickly.

Regardless, I will simmer down.

Digging out didn't go so well. My truck is now sideways in my driveway. I called AAA to get me straightened out :bag:
Did you get to use your generator? :excited:
No, dammit. I tried knocking the electric lines down, but those ####ers are sturdy.
'I just bought a handgun. Now I'm not saying I want somebody to invade my home, but it would be really nice to see if this thing will kill somebody.'

BUT HE'S REALLY PERSISTENT!
