GM's thread about nothing (68 Viewers)

Went in for a physical today. Had the doctor look at a mole that showed up on my face about a month ago and he midly freaked out and told me I need it removed ASAP. Earliest date available with the dermatologist he recommended in the 17th. Considering just taking my pocket knife and lopping it off. In the mean time I will not be speaking with Bob just to be on the safe side.
Is it really a mole and is it really on your face? Be honest, there's nothing to be ashamed of. It happens to 80% of us sexually active men who didn't vaccinated for it when we were kids.
Yes and yes. I, too, in my history have had a mole in other areas like 80% of sexually active men but unlike that one, this one is gray and although it looks round to the naked eye, when the doctor looked at it in his little microscope thing, it is not actually round which is what made him nervous.
They go off of the "Four C's" IIRC, something along the lines of:

-circular

-color

-changing size

-???

Anyway, if it's got a bright color, irregular edges and it's changed in size it's more likely to be cancerous which is why he's understandably upset about it.

*I learned all of this 15+ years ago in a medical malpractice case involving allegations of negligent failure to diagnose melanoma.
Yeah - so other than it's sudden appearance, it hasn't changed size that I've noticed. It's gray but not bright - looks like a pencil mark on my face. The alarming thing was the non-circular nature of it under magnification - maybe that's the 4th C.

Probably something like that. It's red flags that arouse suspicion, but no one of them is definitive.

Definitely follow up with your doc and whatever specialist they recommend you go to is the point. Early intervention on that stuff is important.

A few of you Dallas guys might recall I am friends with Chris Holt (local musician who has a nice following in the Dallas club scene) from childhood and still talk to him today. Chris and a few of my other friends formed a band in 10th grade called "Thin Ice". I tried to join as the harmonica player, but A) I sucked worse at that than I do at spelling and 2) To my knowledge, no band in the history of ever has had a dedicated harp player. So I was the band's "Manager", which meant I sat around with them during practice, drank beers and lugged their gear around to local gigs and studio recordings.

In 11th grade, Thin Ice fired their drummer and hired a kid two years younger named Rob Giles to fill in. Kid was immensely talented and also very rich. That was key because he had a nice sized mansion in Highland Park that allowed for unsupervised band practices and tomfoolery with young ladies and weed, which was very taboo back then in Texas. Thin Ice even recorded a couple of tapes, which I might have laying around in an old suitcase.

Thin Ice won every "Battle of the Bands" it ever entered and wasn't half bad, but after HS, the band dispersed to go to college while Rob finished out HS. I lost track of Rob, but my sister remained friends with him and she reconnected with him on Facebook a few years ago. Turns out Rob has stayed with the music and has enjoyed a pretty nice career. He plays in a band called The Rescues and married some gal who is on Grays Anatomy (Caterina Scorsone). I saw him play a couple years back in Portland and while the music didn't really do much for me, I was very impressed with their set/talent. I met him and his wife after the show and they couldn't have been nicer, so I'm rooting for the guy.

Turns out, he's picked up another fan along the way. Police guitarist Andy Summers saw Rob play and invited him over to his house to play some music. Fast forward to today and their new band Circa Zero released its first single. Again, it's not my cup of tea, but it's catchy and I like the fact that Summers plays a guitar solo in it.

Anyhow, tl;dr, LOOK AT ME.

I have two days to rewatch all three seasons of Game of Thrones before Sunday night. Not a bad weekend planned.

In the midst of a marathon myself. Who's making the popcorn?
I bought this cool device to make popcorn on the big green egg. It's basically like a wire mesh container with a handle that clasps shut. Looking forward to using it whenever it stops snowing.

Sweet. August is right around the corner.

Little Zooks and I are hitting the city tonight and going to the Celtics/76ers game. Not exactly Bird vs Erving but there will be cheerleaders and hopefully a lot of drunk co-eds stumbling around the city after the Sox home opener.

If only there was a way to make popcorn...indoors...in about 2.5 minutes.

Maybe someday.

Seattle burger update: I have to agree with Drifter that Lunchbox Laboratory is the ####, at least the one that's down the street from the REI that took all my money today. We also had Red Mill a couple of weeks ago. Hard to compare the two as LL has so many options while Red Mill is just have a burger, with or without cheese, with or without bacon. Both solid. I'd go to LL more often if I had the choice between them, though.

tl;dr for anyone not in Seattle.

Venison chili recipes anyone? Use it with Judge Snail's, sub out pork sausage? Venison is ground up. Better ideas out there?
Whatever recipe you use I would suggest putting a pinch of gunpowder in the mix.

That way you'll get

(•_•)

( •_•)>⌐■-■

(⌐■_■)

More bang for your buck.

YEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!

Everyone in here dead or what?

Feel free not to reply if you are.
I just got done working. It has been a long freaking day.

Mrs. SLB said she wanted to get busy last night but then I went meet Romo and got all whiskeyed up. Mostly when I got home but I still blame Romo for me not getting some.

Dylan shtick earlier tonight:

I'm going to ride on my scooter. (Starts to ride down the driveway) Oops, I forgot my helmet! (I really don't care and I'm not paying attention) Where's my helmet? Oh there you are helmy, helmy! Thought you could hide from me between those bikes eh?! (The "eh" is disturbing. Thinking Frosty, Stryker or Tre may be visiting my house) Well you can't! NOW GET ON MY HEAD!

Very cool GB.

Oh yeah, in regards to the bicycle guys, I also hate the runners, walkers that strap little bottles of water and other junk all over their body like they are ####### Batman or something. Knock it the #### off.

Mrs. SLB does this. <_< She's running in a marathon relay on Sunday. Should be a real treat the rest of the week.

Those water bottle things aren't really necessary unless you're running like 12 miles.

Exactly. I put a bottle in my pocket so it makes it look like I have a giant unit.

I just had this exchange with Mrs. SLB.

Me: So, on a scale of 1-10, how horny are you?

Mrs SLB: (1 second, 2 seconds, 3 seconds) *sigh* (4 seconds)..

Me: 1 huh?

Mrs. SLB: No, not a one..

Me: 1.5 then?

Mrs. SLB: :lmao: I'm tired, I've been up since 4:30.

Me: I'll be downstairs playing poker

ETA

I really feel like Romo owes me a hooker now.
