GM's thread about nothing (21 Viewers)

My Abe to English translator kicked out the following guess:

Abe bundled his home and auto insurance with one carrier, rather than the two separate insurance companies he had used previously. That saved him $450. Coincidentally, his real estate taxes increased by $450 to offset the money he thought he would save. But he also doesn't pay state taxes, so despite what appear to be ridiculously high real estate taxes, he can still munch on Bob's chigger infested unit.
That's good Abelish right there.

Bob, congrats on the chiggershvantz (I'm assuming that's better than pretty much every other possible diagnosis you could have recieved).

shuke, sorry for your issues. You can't fix your wife or make her want to take control of her situation. But you can fix how you deal with/internalize the other stuff. I know the running kids from place to place and whatnot all on your own makes things hectic. Every time my wife travels for work, I'm reminded how much respect I should have for single parents. But none of that stuff or the house stuff is life or death. Which means you can't place so much importance on it that you let it impact your health (mental or physical).

I'm sure it's a lot to take on, and I'm sure the pressure is overwhelming sometimes. But while you're in the middle of it, just stop and take a deep breath every now and then and remind yourself that it's not worth allowing it all to build up inside. Dishes are going to get done and eventually the house will get painted. They're just things. Bumps on the road. And venting to us is better than internalizing. You haven't met Bob IRL, have you?

Henry, you're doing great work in that religion thread btw. Normally they turn into crazy conservative vs matuski within 2 pages.

Work is really slow right now, so I'm thinking I can sneak in a long hike tomorrow morning. 'ninja/Drifter/roverfish/others, any suggestions on a moderate hike we could do? I'm thinking 2000-3000 elevation gain, length doesn't matter (that's what she said). I'm running out of "new" options close by as we've done many of the usual suspects, but I don't want to do Mount Si until next week.

ETA: Want to do one tomorrow, one Saturday and one Sunday, which is why I'm getting desperate for new ideas. Sat/Sun I don't mind driving a bit to get there, but tomorrow am hoping to stay within an hour or so.
Have you done Rattlesnake Ridge yet?

I have not done Ebey's landing and Deception Pass on Whidbey island but have read good things if you don't mind a bit of a drive and ferry. Might be nice as you can check out Mukilteo on the way, which is a nice little town.

Oh, thanks. I keep thinking I'm derailing it... given that some of the religious keep saying I'm talking about the wrong thing and then leaving.

Miss out on a Barry Larkin bobblehead?
I've felt on the verge of a heart attack for about 3 weeks.

Wife had a pretty bad case of bronchitis for a few weeks, and going right out of that into her bad part of her menstrual cycle that makes her headaches worse, and I have been doing everything around here. I am sure there are single parents out there who have to deal with this day in day out, but on top of my job and travel, and all the stress around the house when my wife is not feeling good, I am just having trouble coping.

Plus she is missing a lot, and things just seem to be getting worse, and it is breaking my heart. I am doing everything I can to help her emotionally, but she is at a point that it seems she doesn't want to help herself.
Sorry Shuke. When we decided we were done with kids, my wife had a procedure done that essentially burned out the lining of her uterus. In addition to purposely making her infertile it also cut down her menstrual pains (which were bad) by about 90%. Just food for thought.

Really glad your cat came back, YSR.

I understand on the road trip. I was kind of surprised to hear you were doing it at all but after your new landscaping business, I figured wtf do I know.

Dylan had his first baseball game of the year tonight. They have a pitching machine but the rest of the rules are pretty close in that three strikes and your out with a maximum of five pitches. They can advance as many bases as they like too instead of only one base. Three outs and they switch too instead of every kid batting every inning which is really cool.

He went 5-5 and they won 11-2. There was even a play at the plate where he slid around the tag, popped up, looked at the ump for the safe call and got it. He clapped his hands once and and jogged off with a big smile on his face. He looked like a big leaguer which was super cool. This is the first time either of my boys has been on the winning side of an athletic contest. Pretty happy about this.
Very cool.
Thanks GB. Don't get me wrong, he jacked around like most of the other kids. Like I posted last week, he just looks the part. Very proud dad though.
Im nervous about how I'll take it if my boys suck or dont like sports when they get old enough.
With Cal, it was like a given. I'm not "that guy" either. I think the proof is there in that I didn't make him play sports because he hated it so much. I was certainly told by every male member of my family how they were sure he was going to be great at sports almost as soon as he was born though. I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed. Cal's happiness of course means more to me than some stupid kids sports game.

In a completely unrelated note, Dylan is my favorite son.
:lmao: :lmao:

Cooper is a pretty good athlete who plays up a year on football and soccer teams and was the best player on his basketball team by a mile. He's playing baseball and volunteered for catcher, which is not very glamorous, but it's a noticeable difference when he's not back there blocking balls and doing what catchers are supposed to do...CATCH. Kid just hustles hard and loves to play sports.

Meanwhile, the K-man has settled in with soccer and swimming and that's it and that's totally fine with us. I had him play baseball for one year with the simple logic that he didn't want to be the kid in college who couldn't catch a baseball with a glove. He actually wasn't too bad and liked it, but not enough to play through the grind of spring baseball in Oregon, which is a long long season with many games played in cold rain. His soccer team is purely for fun and I hope we can keep this current team together. Great kids and many of them dipped their toes in Classic/Select soccer in the past but are back now. Turns out many kids would rather enjoy themselves and play for fun than be pressured into winning games against kids who eat, breathe and live soccer all the time.

I once asked Kellen if he wanted to play football and he just laughed at me. :bag:

Totally here you about the catching thing. Really glad Cal decided to join D and myself in a toss a couple of weekends ago for that reason.

Shredder started real guitar lessons, you know with somebody that can instruct and not a computer program, and really enjoyed it. I heard. I just got home from work. Cal starts keyboards/piano next week. He took some in the first grade at school (before they kicked his ### out) and caught on pretty fast. I figure they should have something that they can use their whole lives. Plus chicks love dudes that can play a cool instrument. I'm doing them the biggest solid and they don't realize it yet.

ETA

I mean that Tommy Lee guy seemed to do pretty well with the ladies and of course Elton John didn't do so bad himself.
Hippling strong today.

Every kid that wants to play anything at some point should learn piano at a young age. Best possibly musical foundation you can have and for impressing chicks, you're more likely to come across a piano in a bar or hotel lobby than a drum set or a trumpet.

My wife heard from a friend that the castle on Irish Bayou is for sale for $150,000.00. For the first time ever, she now supports me starting my own firm - only, she wants me to move to New Orleans to do it so she can live in a castle.
