Hope your daughter does alright with the surgery. That kind of crap terrifies me.

Thanks guys. She did really well. Took a good nap when we got home and was in good spirits tonight. But she definitely has some double vision and is putting her arms out when she walks near walls or objects. This can be typical for a little time while the brain adjusts to the eyes being aligned, but it is not easy for me to watch. But she kept making jokes about there being two of whatever she was looking at.

Re: your son, it seems like a no-brainer to NOT make him do it in front of people. Why not take him to a parking lot on a Sunday for some place that is closed? There has to be somewhere else you can do it, otherwise you may only be making things worse.

I agree I have to get him somewhere else. Someone posted a link earlier about going down a grassy slope, maybe Bobby Sac. Thanks, looks like good advice.

My son was the exact same way after his eye surgery. Everything turned out great. Hope it's the same for you GB

A day or so. I remember the next morning he said "I see two daddies!" and then he tried to follow his brother into the playroom and looked like a drunk sailor.

The biggest pain in the ### was just keeping water and dirt out of his eyes...b/c he's rough as hell. He wasn't a big fan of the antibiotic cream that we had to rub on his eyelashes (that absorbed into his eyes) every night, but after a minute or so of crying he got over it. All in all, it was much better than I expected

My kids are weird. The only thing they will eat consistently is beans. Black beans, green beans, garbanzo beans, doesn't matter.

Pre-schoolers? Both my kids were like that.

Yeah both under 3 years old

Not sure what that means, maybe immature taste buds like bland. At that age texture or shape means as much/more than flavor?

Everytine I thought my 5 y.o. was into something new, I'd go down to Costco in Brooklyn and get the jumbo family size triple pack. She's been off the charts tiny, 5th per tile or less, so if she liked something fattening, I'd decide immediately this is it, finally going to put meat on her. She'd quit after trying it two more times, leaving the last 34 for 50 y.o. poppa. I was a lean guy until 45, now I'm a ducking whale.

Kids are the worst best thing.

Cognitive recognition hasn't developed. At 3-1/2 mine thought the Monsters Inc DVD was funny. A full year later we saw Monsters University in the theater. 20 minutes in she hopped out of her seat into my lap. Watched most of the movie over her shoulder while clinging to my neck.

Most of those stories were Caldecott medal winners. There's over 100 stories on the set (4-6 per disk) and almost all of them are books that will be read to them during preschool-PK years. It's a great introduction to story telling.

Pack, you've done good with that one. There may not be words that will help her right now, but she'll appreciate you listening. Heartbreak sucks, we all experience it, but man - it's gotta be 1,000 times worse when it's your little girl. Do your best in trying to help her understand, and trust her. She'll make good choices. Everything up until now prepared her for this. That's a good kid you got, and she'll be OK. But def sucks short term.
