GM's thread about nothing (22 Viewers)

I need a partner. Must be willing to make most of the decisions and then be able to handle constantly being berated for any decision that doesn't go well.
This was pretty much Tre for me last year. You can fill my role as non-decision making berater if you'd like since I know you guys are all snuggly.

So Annyong is Oh Yes

and

Henry Ford is JoeT

and

DanGladden'sMustache is HomerJ

Do I have that right?
Henry Ford is no Joe T.

Thank god.
I try to not get the alias paranoia. Sometimes it's obvious. Sometimes there's just a feeling somebody is too well-acquainted with the boardfolk to be "new." I think IB and I have a shared feeling that HF falls into that latter category, right or wrong.

lol at Joe T, though.
I'm three pages behind due to spending my day looking at houses ( :oldunsure: ), but I disagree.

for those of you that get time outs, what did you do? i don't even remember why i was once for a measly week. wtf do you do that gets your account whacked for a year?
I've gotten two I think. I called _4_ a dbag for one and for the other I commented that I would like to go on a Yayo/sex binge with one of the Olsen twins. I think they were even 18 by then so that one didn't make a lot of sense for me.
I got a timeout for using the phrase "phone sex" (actually actually true) and also one for suggesting that someone should sleep with his wife/girlfriend's sister.

Oh, just found out ####### I used to work with whose wife is friends with mine got his wife a cruise for their anniversary. Guess what I get to hear all night? Hint: anniversary is less than 6 months away.

Mcbokonon got nailed for being less than delicate in referencing the beauty of Walter Payton's daughter, who was well above 18. 3 years and I don't even know if it's over yet.
Ooooooooooooohhhhhh, I had not made, or had forgotten, who you were. Wow, glad you're here. Such a funny guy.

I probably should've gotten clipped several times and, if I had been more famous around this board, surely would have. I said some mean #### to people without being provoked to people who didn't deserve it. A few did IMO, but they are/were known #####.

One was someone well known who posts mostly in a thread that rhymes with "ACC Basketball" who has had about fifty different screen names banned and who wished another poster would've died in a hurricane that killed some folks in the SE.

Which brings me to furley's post. I don't think of krista as "a girl who needs protecting" or whatever. That post from mini-Zippy came from so far out of nowhere. There was no point-of-reference, just weird vitriol. Hence my "wtf?" post. I have no doubt krista could burn down whoever she needed/wanted to.

If furley had come out of nowhere like that to SLB or cos or whoever, I'd have done the same thing.
Just so you know, it didn't come out of nowhere, in the sense that he has been doing it for many months. I suppose the first time he did it--not sure when as I might not even have noticed it right away--it was out of nowhere.

Oddly enough, before his latest vitriol, I'd been thinking a lot about how we see ourselves v how others see us. It came up because a friend who was my admin at a prior job had posted something on Facebook to the effect of my having been the best boss in the world. I, on the other hand, thought I had been a terrible boss to her, in fact finding out after I left the job that I had once made her cry and didn't know it. So I had the dual response in reading her posting of (1) remembering how at the time I thought I was a good boss, until I realized I was so "tough" that I made her cry, which was way outside of who I thought I was, and (2) now thinking that I had been pretty terrible, and getting the second surprise that I was better than I thought--her response to my saying I should have done a lot better was "Who else has a boss that lets them take off early to take sailing lessons", which is something I forgot I'd done. I'd been thinking a lot about other instances--both good and bad but mostly bad--where I realized I'd come across in a way that was completely different from what I felt I was.

tl;dr - I've been very pensive lately about how we come across to the world as opposed to who we think we are, and how different those concepts can be. furley's post made me realize that there are some people who just never do that. He apparently is so convinced he is absolutely right about everything that he has no need to look inside and evaluate himself, even when everyone else feels differently, to see if maybe it's about him. Such an odd way to live, but maybe it's good in that it is such a simple way to view life.

I just really don't appreciate him being a #### lately - there and other places - considering that I thought we were alright at one point. I kind of expect that sort of crap from the rest of you.
Lately? Pretty sure he's always been a ####.
Fair enough - my bad. I actually like Abe and didn't expect this.
Apologies. Seriously. I'm a #### sometimes but really don't mean to ruffle feathers here. Life's too short.

While we're airing grievances, I'm not sure I have any idea who DrJ is; my first encounter with him in which I notice him is in the last couple of days, where he's spewing vitriol at people in the pot smoking thread for saying they don't smoke pot because they are afraid of the consequences in their jobs. He thinks we are a bunch of sissies for that. Ok I guess, but I think he posted like 73 posts in a row with that view and had to stoop to the name calling stuff. Just was weird. I figured he was a new poster but apparently not.

Every now and then some poster who I never really noticed comes out of nowhere with a shtick that makes me do a double take.

The furley vs. krista bit is weird.

I'm in Japan.

That is all.

I came into this thread a few pages back with a debate about cornbread and thought I was in the North vs. South thread. Love that thread.

Assume I'll be too late. :(

Watching some "Drunk History" tonight. As someone who loves history and is frequently hammered, this show sucks.

I'm also hammered again. I was going to take the night off. But, my neighbor Joel, who lost his wife a couple years ago, is having a difficult time about it again. Tonight's discussion involved a lot of crying. And I'm pretty sure that this latest round comes from the fact that we're moving in a couple weeks and he doesn't really have anyone else close by to talk to about it when the emotional moments come. So, I kinda feel like a #### for moving right now.

I gave you excellent diet advice (okay, that's debatable), I told you to buy an Odyssey. It's not my fault that you choose the dumbest crap ever to register on your radar.
Big Odyssey fan. Mrs. O still won't allow it; she's not prepared for minivan status. We're splitting the difference and going with a Pilot, which prices out about the same. And buy the time we get one I think it will have all the latest gadgets.

:hifive:

The shtick wears pretty thin after a while.

I get that but why drag his past transgressions into the light? Of course, I could be hypersensitive after being called a 40 something, goofy looking, nanny screwing, unstable alcoholic this week. I mean...I'm not completely unstable. Words hurt.

Hate seeing Abe get beat up by somebody other than us. ;)

K4/ysr team?
I would do this. Would also team up for fantasy football league.

Man on fire is not a bad movie.
Maybe we are thinking of different films.
I liked Bird on a Wire, but I was a kid when I saw it so whatever.
I'm with you. And really, anything based on a Leonard Cohen song will get my vote
You beat me to the Leonard Cohen joke. :hot:

Actually that's probably good for me.

DrJ is a ##### and loves being one.

In one week I return home from Japan.

In two weeks I move my wife and two daughters out of our house and into my parents' house. My wife and I will sleep in the same room that was mine while I was in high school.

Two days later, I will leave them all for Korea.

A week after that I will return home to said parents' house.

About a week later we close on our new house.

About two or three weeks after that, hopefully, the painters and floor guys will be done, and we will get the pleasure of moving again, this time out of my parents' house and into our new house.

I wish I had a fast forward button.

We have a Pilot. I like it.

I also love my truck. But now that traveling a lot more for work, it sucks as a ride. So far the Toyota Sequoia and Mercedes ML 550 are the only SUVs I've seen that don't suck. And they are not particularly affordable.

you come off as someone that doesn't respond to texts.
Me? Phone charging right now. I'm notsogood at phones (though better than YSR as I don't kill them). What was it about? Last-minute change of heart to have lunch?

We went through various southern Seattle areas today. Really liked it. Gig Harbor is just lovely. You will be troubled to know that we saw a house we LOVED in Burien (Seahurst neighborhood). Going to go see it again.

We move into the new place on Aug. 15. Really hoping my marriage makes it until then.
