That reminds me of our fun Youth Group Super Bowl party. At halftime, we had a hot wings eating contest. The winner won a free spot for a friend to our spring retreat which was $130. So a decent prize. All they had to do was be the first one to finish 3 hot wings.I can't imagine how painful that might be. I know guys that can take on all the "SO HOT YOUR POOP WILL BURN YOU FOOD CHALLENGE" and live to tell about it. Me? I so much as sniff Tabasco Sauce and I start sweating. I ate a Mango Habenero (sp?) wing at BWW on Saturday (look at me, I eat awful food!) and almost died. I had to stick my tongue in my glass of beer and just let it rest there.heckmanm said:Sampled some "atomic" horseradish at a beer fest last weekend that blinded me for about 8 secondsBob Sacamano said:You've had REAL horseradish? 3 hot wings coated with some regular hot wing sauce that had a good dose of some super hot sauce (with some name like "Tom's Atomic Anal Melting Sauce") added. It was so hot it made my nose run and eyes water just sniffing it.
Now, our group was a weird mix this last year of mostly guys that were seniors and girls that were in junior high. The boys all quickly decided that they would rather force their friends to pay $130 than even attempt the challenge. 5 junior high girls were not that smart.
I'm pretty sure the hottest thing any of these girls had ever eaten was a Red Hot candy or maybe something with a little Tabasco. This stuff was like 3,000 times hotter than Tabasco. So they had no idea what true heat was.
Within 10 seconds they were screaming, crying, gagging and drooling. Basically like an afternoon with Homer. 3 of them only managed about 3 bites and were done. One finished 2.5 wings and one did actually finish them all.
They then all raced to different bathrooms to throw up (which makes it burn worse in your mouth and throat), put their heads in the sink and gulp water into their mouths (water just spreads it and makes it worse), chug tons of milk (actually helps), eat yogurt and bread. There was screaming and crying for about a half hour. In the end, 4 of their moms had to come pick then up.
It was awful and hilarious.
Also, it is the last time we're having a Super Bowl party, let alone a wing eating contest.

Fixed your post.Basic slaw recipe.
Fresh cut green and purple cabbage, and carrots.
Apple cider vinegar.
MayoDijon Mustard
Sugar
Pepper
Celery Salt
The ratio of vinegar to mayo is where you really need to play around until you get the type of slaw you like. I think I'm about 1:1.
Celery salt is secret ingredient.
Good recipe base. I use about 2/3 cup mayo tops. More apple cider vinegar, celery seed, and cajun and cayenne pepper. Prefer the slaw to be crunchier and not drenched in gloppy sauce.Basic slaw recipe.

Got there just in time for sunset.
I'm sure there are many great meals to be had in Ballard, but the views and chowder alone made this one a hit. Made my daughter try calamari for the first time and turns out she really likes it... Especially the tentacles!
Grabbed brunch at Lola, swimming in the hotel pool for a little more before checking out, walking around the market for a bit and hopping on the ferry
Yeah, went to the EMP museum yesterday and my daughter wanted to stay so long that it threw off the plans for the rest of the day and ended up altering what we are doing today. But she was having so much fun, there was no way I was going to rush her.Perfect. Such a cool city. Are you guys going to hit the Hendrix Music Experience Museum or whatever it's called? Things seem to be going really well with us. We have had a couple rough spots as we learned each other's needs and communication styles. Fortunately she has resisted her usual reaction of running away anytime anything gets hard and we have been able to talk things through.
The topic of kids has come up from time to time (especially after the broken condom scare, oops) and seems like something you'd want to at discuss if you see the relationship as something that will/could last.
In some relationships it's been a definite no for me, but my general policy has been "never say never." In this case, there's just something about it that feels right, in due time![]()
