Overnight with wife Sunday night at the Allison Inn. Xmas gift from my boss, finally getting to use it. MIL in town to watch Hazel, boys with their mom. Wine tasting all afternoon, fancy dinner, massages, luxury hotel. Can. Not. Wait!
Where you going?
Not sure yet. I read an article that recommended Bella Vida, Thistle and Alexana. Bella Vida has bocce ball, so we'll definitely hit that one up. We tend to hit the same spots, so would like to try some new ones this time.

its short notice but I might be able to get you dialed in somewhere cool. Is there a difficult to tour awesome winery that you want to go to?

I can't think of any off hand, but if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear 'em. Thanks!

Note to self: Remember to blackmail bribe Da Raiders next time you're in wine country.

I've never been to the wineries except for a wedding I went to, that I have very little recollection of.

But I know people. I just thought if there were some that were harder to get into, I might be able to help.

Man I can't stand horseradish. I love spicy stuff but horseradish (and wasabi) has that thing that I just can't stand. I understand and accept that I'm probably wrong. This isn't like mushrooms here.
This is insanity - Roast Beef with Horseradish and Seared Ahi Tuna with Wasabi are both top 20 things to eat for me - maybe even contenders for top 10.
I should like horseradish and wasabi, but I don't.
You've had REAL horseradish? Not that craptacular sauce stuff?

I may have to start a list of my own.
Sampled some "atomic" horseradish at a beer fest last weekend that blinded me for about 8 seconds

I can't imagine how painful that might be. I know guys that can take on all the "SO HOT YOUR POOP WILL BURN YOU FOOD CHALLENGE" and live to tell about it. Me? I so much as sniff Tabasco Sauce and I start sweating. I ate a Mango Habenero (sp?) wing at BWW on Saturday (look at me, I eat awful food!) and almost died. I had to stick my tongue in my glass of beer and just let it rest there. :bag:
The nice thing with horseradish is that it's over after about 10 seconds, with no lingering burn. Just sparkly sinus cavities.

Also, apparently my mistake was inhaling through my nose when it first hit. Which is kind of a natural reaction when it feels like your brains are going to come out of your nostrils, but apparently makes things worse.

For all who saw that my wife and I have adopted a 12 year old border collie - we're one week in with really no issues with either him or with either of our other dogs. Everyone's been getting along wonderfully. Found out that he doesn't like rain at all, or for it to even be wet outside. Also, the dog literally doesn't turn left. I haven't seen him turn left once - he'll just turn 270 degrees to the right every time he needs to turn left.

I've heard of border collies having odd traits, I'd have to agree.

My border collie mix hates water. She'll tolerate rain, but she'll jump over puddles. Barks at garbage in the gutters like she's thinking "that's not supposed to be there". She also thinks the ice cream truck or any other slow moving vehicle is out to get her. They have some interesting traits/phobias for sure.ETA: Forgot she also eats the first couple of pieces of her kibble away from the bowl in the kitchen on the carpet in the family room and then goes back for the rest like a cat.

My collie/lab mix does this same thing

My Australian Cattle dog (my avatar picture) does that exact same thing!

The Scorpions have been a band since 1965. That's nuts.

Let's take a YouTube dip through Sublime's catalog before we start throwing around the "worst band ever" tag so lightly.
I think it has something to do with the era that each band hit is big. Back when I was in HS there were all kinds of halfwits that loved the Scorpions.
He said 1965. Was there another Scorpion band back when you were in High School?

Thought that, and will get checked by my vet when I take him. He apparently had a full vet workup a few weeks before we got him (including removing 9 teeth), and nothing at all has been mentioned about eyesight. Also, I've seen dogs with bad eyesight before and when they go in a straight line they have their heads cocked to the side to see better out of their good eye - he doesn't do that at all.

Phoebe had her first soccer practice tonight. She probably won't be winning any MVP awards, but I'm happy to say she wasn't one of the five kids on her team who cried during practice.
Good night and I seriously understand your relief.

the girl and I have chatted about the possibility of making babies at some point. She's gone from early on in the relationship saying she's never really thought about having babies to saying she's scared that she wouldn't know what to do and would need to rely on me heavily, to saying she thinks she might want to have a baby sometime to now questioning whether she would want one or two... :oldunsure:

As anyone at BeerHole can attest from seeing me hanging out with Charles, I'm clearly not in the "no" camp
Mrs. SLB and myself talked about this kind of stuff pretty early in our relationship so, you know, you've been warned and stuff.
Didn't you guys start dating at age 12???
Can't let boners go to waste.

That escalated quickly.
Obviously not something we would try to do anytime soon. More talking about what we are looking for eventually in life.
You're hilarious.
you should just wait until YSR pops out a couple more. I'm sure she'll be giving them away soon.
I'm picturing a cardboard box full of babies competing to see who can slobber more.

Strong possibility for Derbyhole especially if I can work it into some work out there the week prior or after so that work pays for my flight.

I'm in the process of planning a bourbon bar crawl in Cincinnati in early October. I only have the rough plans sorted and the 4 biggest bourbon bars have all committed as well as the local indie paper, the Bourbon Society of Greater Cincinnati and the top bartender in the city for like 4 years running.

Kinda excited to see how many people are getting behind this when it's little more than an idea sketched on a bar napkin.

Has the potential to be pretty epic! :banned:
