GM's thread about nothing (20 Viewers)

plenty of you lawyer types up in here. advice please.

i've never sued anyone in my life. my FIL may need to.

he had a stent put in around 6 years ago. the wound in his upper thigh where they went in, has never properly healed. it will heal up, then reopen. it's crazy to think about that still happening 6 years later!

he's contacted the maker of the stent, they say it's on the surgeon. insurance is giving him the run around and sending him to more doctors. all of which, cost him more money. i'm not sure what the conversation with the surgeon resulted in, or if there has even been a conversation with him.

sorry for the spotty details, but it's second hand, through my wife.

personal injury lawyer? :boatloads?:

IB, know anyone?
I definitely know some med-mal guys here, but they typically do defense work. Send me a PM with all the details, including the doctor's name and practice. I'll see what I can find out

The Ferguson, Missouri thread is as bad as I think it's going to be, right?
Do you think it's going to be filled with veiled and blatant racism, as well as denial about crime rates in predominantly minority neighborhoods, as both sides bury their heads in the sand and forget that this incident was about a single, real person who almost certainly got the shaft from the police force?
There are a lot of murders around here. Most are terrible because they involve innocent people, sometimes little children, caught in the crossfire. It's really hard though to watch a place that I lived very close to, worked in, and spent time in, turn into a war zone. We were back there just threes weeks ago, when I posted about going to the Soulard Market, showing the boys the grocery store where she used to work at, closed 20 years ago and now bordered up, the Dollar General I worked at and helped set up 25 years ago, now a Family Dollar, that was looted Sunday night. My wife was at the Ferguson Brewery for a baby shower the weekend before that. A bunch of mostly white women in a predominately black neighborhood getting together, oh no!! I never gave it a second thought as I would some other parts of town. You have very different perspective on things when, you know, you actually lived there.

I've stayed out of that thread for the most part but the whole thing makes me sick to my stomach. Other people getting shot or killed, like the woman last night in a drive by, isn't going to bring this guy back. The FBI is in charge. How about everybody stop attacking each other and burning #### down and wait for their investigation of wtf happened? With the eye witness it certainly looks like this cop should be in jail of the rest of his life.

It's ####### sickening on all levels. As I posted in the other thread, Ferguson was a city that was going downhill for years that has been doing all the right things to revitalize things the last 15 years or so. They have been slowly making it a destination to open a business, raise a family, go out to dinner etc. Now there are people, people that don't even live there, or even in this State for that matter, are doing their best to make it flaming pit of violence and hatred. Also actual flames. It makes me want to puke.

I once received a ticket for speeding from a Ferguson cop. I'll never forget it. I was going 40 in a 35. I told him I was a little in shock and didn't notice I was going over the speed limit. He said he didn't care. It was the morning of 9/11/01.

Very well said.

FWIW, Squidrope really knows his stuff in that Tony Stewart thread, and somebody posted an article recently from an actual racing journalist (he takes a pointed shot at the non-racing journalists that come stomping in when something like this happens) that was written very well and with plenty of gray shades.

Officerette Petra Malloy (wife, not daughter) had an interview today for the general management spot at her store. Pretty crazy since she's only been with the company for like 3 months. Haven't heard from her today but I'm sure I'll find out how it went when she gets home.

Oh and I got a pep talk from a member of the 1994 Nation Champion Cornhuskers today. So I got that going for me...which is nice.

Monte Christo?

So one of my coworkers just showed me and my boss one of the best worst videos of all time. A guy on our engineering team was taking a dump on the 8th floor and had his phone out surfing he internet. Guy comes in to the stall next to him and starts grunting like he's wrestling an alligator. Engineer starts recording because the noises are hilarious....only the guy isn't taking a dump. You got it - he's brought his crock pot to the bathroom and the shadow reflection under the stall is captured and now on YouTube. Don't know whether to laugh or be very very afraid.

:lmao:

Moving in with my parents tomorrow. Sellers on our new house refuse to close for another few weeks, and we're forced out of our old house. My wife and I will spend three weeks sleeping in my childhood bedroom. Our two girls are both sick, my wife came down with it today. In a couple days I leave or Asia on business, stranding my wife with sick kids and her in-laws for a week, then I get back and do some more US travel after that. Wife just went to bed. I've still got a brzillion more things to pack.

Moving sucks.

Question for Bentrley: how badly will the movers dock me if I just leave some stuff unpacked and make them box some of it up when they get here?

Thought I heard a good new rock song on the radio and it turned out to be "Cold Hard #####". Which got me thinking - what happened to Jet?

You guys weren't even close

To be fair he's not exactly Tommy Frazier. I'd never heard of the guy until last school year when he came to speak to our student body.

Sounds like a hell of situation for you, especially with how close you are to it. I hope the area can come to some kind of détente. Soon.

Pretty much.
Is it worse than I imagine that Tony Stewart thread to be?
Icon just said that the kid who got hit by Stewart "paid the stupid tax", so there you go.
How about that......
I like icon, but he makes it hard
#### that guy.

I wish I knew how to quit you.
Watched the first half of the second one too. Not as good, obvs, but holds a special place in my heart since I saw it first when I was a kid.

See now you're just screwing with me.

I probably saw the second one 50 times growing up and never saw the first one until I was old enough to make my own decisions. It holds a special place in my heart, but even so I can admit the first one is vastly superior. If that's not good enough for you I don't know what to tell you. Though I suspect you're immune to nostalgia because you hate everything.
