Had the Philly version of a tomato pie for the first time since I moved back here. Damn is that delicious. It is just a doughy topped Sicilian pizza with chuncky tomato sauce and spices. No cheese except maybe some sprinkled parnesean in the sauce. It sounds simple and dumb. I mean I love cheese. Cheese is the best part of pizza arguably. But somehow, these tomato pies are great. Boggles the mind but satisfies the taste buds.
