GM's thread about nothing (27 Viewers)

I Dream of Jeannie is much better than I Dream of Juggalos

I know it sounds crazy, but you're going to have to take my word on this one.

I feel a little guilty this morning. I was so happy to see a guy drive his car off the road.

We had a nasty sheet of ice here in the morning (black ice --- OMG HISHUKE) which was publicized all over local weather. I don't watch local weather, but went out to get bagels this morning and needed exactly two steps out the side door to nearly break my neck and realize the roads will be treacherous.

So I get in the Land Rover and I'm slowly cruising out along the main roads. I notice a fire hydrant nearly knocked over with marks up onto the curb and a car parked about 20 feet past that with flashing lights. There were a couple of cars off to the side of the road like this that clearly had slid off and hid a tree or a hydrant etc.

A few blocks later, some icehole comes speeding up behind me in his Hyundai. I'm in the right lane and there's basically nobody else on the road, it's around 7:30am on a Sunday. He's riding my tail and I've got my 4yo in the back and thinking about what a moron this guy is. So he speeds up and goes into the left lane to pass me. He gets about 10 feet past my car and goes to move into the right lane in front of me, and of course the maroon's car goes sliding off the road up onto the curb and hits a small tree. I nearly hit him, had to swerve to maneuver around the tail of his car. As I did I leaned on the horn, first angry at the guy, then smiled gladly about the fact that he got every little ounce of what he deserved.

Suck it, Earnhardt.

People really are so, so incredibly stupid. I mean, I know this. I see it all the time. And yet somehow every time I see more evidence of it, I'm just stunned.

rWhy didn't this story end with you turning around, going back into the side door, and having toast like a poor person?

awesome to teach a 4 year old that you don't stop to make sure that someone that just crashed is ok; you lean on your horn and revel in their misfortune.

raising a future lawyer. nice job, GB.

There are times to teach compassion and times to point out the natural consequences of stupidity. This situation clearly was the latter iMO.

There's a all-car channel called Velocity. There's a show on said channel called All Girl Garage. They've got a couple offdee 6s on there who actually know what they're doing. Kinda hot. Greasing ball bearings and welding shafts.

So you knew the roads were treacherous, but you went out for bagels anyway and also brought your 4 year old along for the ride?

Off to meet Edwina R Murrow for breakfast. I'm starting to get some clingy vibes from her but I don't know her well enough to be sure. If I'm reading the signals correctly, I'm going to have to cut her loose. I'm not programmed for a girlfriend right now.
UH - we gotta have some pictures here man.

Icy roads don't equal imminent death and destruction, GB. Us Arctic folk deal with it all the time.

in the annals of suckitude? perhaps.
Nope. Very talented.
they are the worst.
The Cheap Trick of rap 'worst'?
they don't even really rap. more like a crappy a capella group singing over some beats. garbage.
So a bunch of guys singing about Tampa Bay Rays baseball and James Bond movies? Sounds tedious.

There are pics of me on the GMTAN Twitter page, but picture Hank Hill and you'll be close.

56 car pile up here in philly area today. Closed the bridges. Closed the turnpike. Multiple deaths. It was bad out. Still raining, but no new ice at this point.

That crossed my mind as well. Snowy roads are. I big deal assuming it's not 12+ inches. Icy roads are incredibly dangerous. No way do I venture out on icy roads unless I absolutely have to.

But yeah, not feeling too bad for the moron that crashed. Probably wouldn't have rubbed salt in the womb, but no way would I have stopped at a clearly dangerous spot and put myself and child in danger to check on a moron like that. If I thought it was bad I'd simply call 9-1-1.

Yup, just about every highway in the Philly area ended up closed at some point this morning due to accidents. 53 car accident on 76 with 1 death and 31 injuries, 10+ car accident on the Blue Route with 2 deaths, 13 car accident on 295, car hanging over a bridge in Delaware and tons and tons of other smaller accidents and cars off the road.

You don't screw around with ice on the roads.
