Gustergate reminds me of an idea I had for a squares pool, auction style. Beginning of the season, every square is available for $5, except, you know what you are getting. You want 0-0? Bid on it, but know that someone could outbid you tomorrow. By the time the superbowl arrives, hopefully the good squares are high enough that it makes sense to throw $10 on 5-8 or whatever.

Can't tell you about cast iron, but in teflon it works great. Bacon gets about half-cooked before the water boils off. Cooks the rest of the way in the bacon fat/grease, but retains most of it's size. Doesn't over-crisp, but also isn't too fatty/raw.
