Going to Portugal. Lisbon & Porto. Must do things? (1 Viewer)

I'll be there in early May for two weeks.

Will post detailed itinerary. Basically 4 days in porto 6 days in Lisbon and two flex days.

Just landed in Porto today. We'll be here for 5 nights.

Staying at a hotel called Timber Virtudes and about to head to a restaurant called "Flow" for the evening. (My wife picked the restaurant)

Tomorrow doing mostly touristy stuff (walking tour etc.)

Day 2 Porto

Walking tour
Hop on hop off bus(I know)
A nice dinner with Fado(highly recommended if you are here with a lady friend)

Day 3 Porto

Just had a wonderful dinner at "A Dispensa" highly recommended.

Tomorrow we do a full day trip to Braga and Guimaraes...then a fancy dinner back at Porto. Will report back.

We head to Lisbon via train on Tuesday.

Sounds amazing @Nemesis , you sure packed a lot into your trip. The friendliness of the locals in almost every town we went to was beyond anything we experienced before or since.
Sorry for the long post, but Mrs. Nemesis tries to pack as much into a travel trip & doesn't leave anything out. Sometimes i need a vacation (after my vacation) 😎

Locals are very friendly & costs are reasonable. That's why Portugal is always high on the list of "countries sought after to retire / relocate to".
During our travels, we ran into 1 or 2 ex-pats living there for a considerable part of their year.

Day 4 Porto

Did a Braga and Guimaeres Tour - kinda meh for me, I've seen a million old churches and some of the major attractions for Guimaeres were rebuilt in the 20th century...so not my thing. Braga was nice though and it was a beautiful day. If I had to do it over again I would have opted for the Geres national park day trip over this one.

We did have a more sophisticated dinner at cozinha las flores.(could be incorrect name) It's the type of place for people that like more sophisticated menus...not my favorite meal.

We take the high speed train to Lisbon tomorrow with no big plans other than to explore the city some and wander into a restaurant for dinner. Walking tour on Thursday, big daytrip on Friday.
