Goodson or Jones? (1 Viewer)

So, for my draft last Saturday, the Draft Dominator, as well as other sources, had Goodson as the primary backup.

Now I am readying blurs about Goodson being CUT?!?

How did FG and others miss so bad?

From the FGB daily emails:

Source: ANG Newspapers - Steve Corkran

Oakland Raiders RB Mike Goodson could be in jeopardy of not making the final roster. Goodson has dealt with fumbling issues in the preseason.

Regardless if Goodson makes the 53 or not, my money is on TJ as the primary backup.

Pretty different stance. Honestly I am seriously losing faith in the "analysis" around here. Now I primarily listen to the Audible, so a lot of this falls on Cec, Bloom, and Waldman, but they have had some pretty glaring misses in the past couple of offseasons. Last season Cec was pounding the table for Jeremiah Johnson, who of course went nowhere and did nothing. They talked about, no, laughed about how Dalton was a noodle-armed QB who could never make it in the NFL, let alone be rosterable in a fantasy league (including dynasty) and he goes to the pro-bowl. They routinely said that AJ Green was the superior wideout to Julio Jones. Oh, and of course the annual Gartrell Johnson hype (what they see in this tub I have no idea). They continually praised Delone Carter and Bilal Powell and trashed Demarco Murray as a one-dimensional back.

This season I have heard how Ronnie Hillman will be starting by midseason (once again, the third-string back from Denver) even though he is 3rd or 4th on the DC with at least McGahee and Lance Ball ahead of him. I've heard Josh Gordon honestly compared to Calvin Johnson (Swear to God Waldman said he can be a Calvin-Johnson type player). Now it seems they are switching positions on Goodson who they claimed was the obvious backup to McFadden, and never once mentioned that he barely played last year and is one of the worst fumblers in the entire NFL.

Now, to be fair, they called Russel Wilson being a special player way back, and have never voiced confidence in Flynn. They can't get it all right. But I feel like the work behind the analysis has been a little bit shoddy. I really feel like at the very least, Goodson's fumbling should have been more of a focus in his analysis, as this is a big fantasy storyline that you aren't going to get much about elsewhere.

Anyhoo, I still think it's the best sports podcast out there, so I should not complain. But I feel like the enthusiasm is outstripping the analysis.

ETA: Both played like crap last night, though Goodson played less crappy (3.3 ypc to Jones's 1.7)

ETA: Give Cec credit, he's still on the Goodson train.

Unfortunately, not sure there would be a clear picture of whether there would be a 3-down back backup. Jones and Goodson bring different skill sets to the table.

Taiwan is a speedy, elusive back who could very well flourish but is relatively untested.

Goodson brings more heft and a power running style good for short yardage and goal line work.

The best answer would be that they would likely work in tandem with Marcel Reese if DMac went down, but if Goodson is on the bubble, Taiwan Jones does make for more intriguing of a bench spot.

Don't forget about Reece, though -- he has playmaking tangibles at receiving and rushing.

Taiwan wouldn't last two games with even a half a workload. He's too frail and wreckless.

There isn't a primary backup in Oakland. McKenzie will be signing a few RBs getting cut over the weekend.

If you follow the link talking about Goodson on the bubble, it is pure speculation. The writer lists possible cuts and 43 roster locks, and goes on to say that Goodson is most likely going to make the roster. No actual news here.
