Best of Times (not listed)

Bad News Bears

Hoosiers

Slap Shot

aside: i submit that Myra Fleener is the biggest "wet blanket" character in the history of sports movies, unless Rounders is a sports movie and then it's Jo.

That's below The Natural (my vote), Eight Men Out, Field of Dreams and Bull Durham
Quick rank order of best baseball movies?

1) Bull Durham

2) Bad News Bears

3) A League Of Their Own

4) The Natural

5) Eight Men Out

Just my opinion. I haven't seen some, so I feel unqualified to comment on those.

The Natural

Remember the Titans

Hoosiers (clearly best sports movie of all-time)

Miracle

Bonus Sports:

Rocky - boxing

Tin Cup - golf

Breaking Away - cycling

Cool Runnings - bobsledding (wins by default)

Big Lebowski - bowlinG

Le Mans - cars

Secretariat - horses

The Karate Kid - martial arts

Dog town and the Zboys - skating

Meru - climbing

Point Break - surfing

The U.S. Football movies are the worst collection of those given. Went Other for "The Best Of Times."

Bull Durham (Natural a close second)

White Man Can't Jump (would have voted The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh  if it was up there, maybe).

Slapshot

Guess I like Ron Shelton movies.

Surprised that there has been no mention of Semi-Pro. I’ve seen that movie so many times, I’ve lost track. It’s one of my go-to throw it on and have on in the background and just veg options.

Rudy - not a close second

The Natural - could’ve went bull Durham or major league

Hoosiers - not a close second

Miracle -  not a close second, slapshot hasn’t aged well for me

Baseball has the best movies.

Can "Finding Forrester" be considered a basketball movie?  It's not better than Hossiers, but it's a good one IMO.

Boxing - Cinderella Man (totally stacked genre)

Horse Racing  - the Black Stallion

Surfing - Momentum Generation (not a close second)

Soccer - Victory

Martial Arts  - Enter the Dragon or Bloodsport

volleyball - Sideout

Auto Racing - Days of Thunder

Golf - meh, not much to choose from

Tennis - meh, not much to choose from

wrestling - vision quest (not a close second)

I swear I saw the game on TV, Were they faking it?
Are you offended that I called it “fictionalized”?  It’s a Hollywood movie that is “based on a true story.”  Just like Hoosiers or Saving Private Ryan. I’m sure it’s an awesome story, much of which actually happened and much of which was written by screenwriters.

Boxing top 10

1.  Cinderella Man

2.  Raging Bull

3.  The Fighter

4.  Million Dollar Baby

5.   Rocky 4

6.   Creed

7.   Rocky 3

8.   Rocky

9.   Bleed for This

10.  Rocky 2

Even though it's my least favorite sport, I think there are better baseball movies than all other sports combined.  Also, write-in for Necessary Roughness.  It may not be the greatest, but it's my favorite football movie for nostalgia reasons.

My exact votes here.

Hoosiers is a top 5 movie for me overall, just perfect.

Rudy is one of the few to get me misty every time, even though I know the true story isn't as good.

Just personal preferences on Miracle and The Natural.

Of course not. I just find it funny that some people just can't enjoy a movie about a real life event. Even if most of the players in that movie say it was very true to what happened. They have to ridicule it. Why? Beats me.
