Greatest Video Game Draft 2011 (1 Viewer)

Mad, put it through please the offer you sent. You can keep Donkey Kong in it, as not many characters more known then Donkey Kong. he is the next rung below Zelda, Mario and maybe even Duke Nukem

A see a couple or 3 VERY strong teams so far. I will say the funniest thing I have read so far in this thread is that after two rounds the person with the number one pick overall was leading. That made me giggle.

Mad please put Mario 3 as a platformer and Donkey Kong as a Villain

PS. its much easier to respond to PM's here

6.05 Diablo II, Action RPG / Hack and slash, PC 2000

I debated taking the original here, but Diablo 2 simply had smoother gameplay, better graphics and improved multiplayer over Battlenet. There are many Diablo 2 clones out there. But there's nothing like the original

Trailer -

Ahh. List it as Hack and Slash. I'm not sure how it ranks among other RPGs.

See my edit above. Hack and Slash.

On a side note, how can you be named Mario Kart and not take Super Mario Kart!!!
VBD = 10th round
No way. Super Mario Kart invented a sub-genre and was an excellent racer on its own. The amount of time I've invested in that game is ridiculous. Not to mention the sheer joy of finding out that there is a special cup and 150cc. Winning on Special Cup, 150cc was one of the greatest experiences Ive had in my preteen years. Won on the last turn with a mushroom over the gap to pass princess. Just barely stayed on the track on the curve. Won the cup by 2 points. HUGE rush!!!Game deserved its draft position.
Love some Super Mario Kart. My buddy (some of you know him as khager on PSN) and I used to spend entire saturdays in middle school racing around blasting each other with turtle shells.

Not bad love a couple think a couple are weak. Remember weak is relative more correct would be too early. I think one of them is horrible but it goes back to the depends on where you were and what the game meant to you.

I really hate doing this, but there really is only one game on my sheet that I must have... I could have dealt with this game getting picked 3 rounds ago, but passing it up in round 6? I just can't pass it up...6.4 Final Fantasy IV (II)

With its character-driven plot, use of new technologies and critically acclaimed score by Nobuo Uematsu, Final Fantasy IV is regarded as a landmark of the series and of the role-playing genre. It is considered to be one of the first role-playing games to feature a complex, involving plot, and is thought to have pioneered the idea of dramatic storytelling in an RPG. The various incarnations of the game have sold more than four million copies worldwide.
Larry's personal rankings of Final Fantasy games already chosen:1. Final Fantasy VI2. Final Fantasy IV3. Final Fantasy VII

6.06 Quake - PC - FPS
:hot: 6.07 Guitar Hero II Sixth Generation (1998-2009) (PS2)

Many reviews praised the game's gradual learning curve and difficulty approach through the song tier progression and the difficulty setting for each song. IGN praised the "fantastic soundtrack" and "great peripheral"

The PlayStation 2 version of Guitar Hero II was welcomed with very positive reviews. It received a 10/10 review in the December 2006 issue of Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine and was awarded the Game of the Month award. The game received a rating of 9.5/10 from IGN, ranking higher than the original game in the series and amongst IGN's highest rated PlayStation 2 games ever.

Harmonix's at its peak imo.

Best of the series IMO and makes my next pick easier

I considered picking Quake...

But I've never actually played it, so I didn't feel right taking it (especially not over personal favorites)

I looked at this and thought "when did he take FFIV?" then I saw the post above. I liked that one too.

6.08 Yo Mama selects:

Grand Theft Auto IV - PS3 - (Action/Adventure)

Incredible story (might move it there potentially), incredible characters, incredible game play.

Had to triple check this one wasn't taken already.

Hey guys. I'm here. I see that Super Mario Kart was taken. Just for clarification, does that take the other Mario Karts off the table?
Yes, all other Mario Karts are off the table. Sports and racing games can only be chosen once per franchise.
That's disappointing. Mario Kart 64 was leap years better than Super Mario Kart. The Mode 7 technology in the SNES version just makes my head hurt to play that one anymore. But for the time, yes, there wasn't anything like it.
That was my thinking. Mario Kart 64 is better in terms of graphics, game play, etc. For the time though, Super Mario Kart was a much more significant game for SNES than MK64 was for N64. We'd play that game ALL DAY. It never got old, and I'm sure if I laid hands on the game today I probably wouldn't put it down for a few hours at least. My picks were no-brainers. I had also considered Sonic the Hedgehog, but the 2 games I picked seemed much more valuable than a Main Character who clearly wasn't #1 for the category (Hello, Mario & Link).

I'm going to move Super Mario Kart to racing. Just gives me a lot more options right now. I think it can compete for #1 in that category, whereas the Generation categories are going to be very competitive. Sorry for all the switching. TIA

Don't get me wrong on the "Mode 7" comment. I love playing old games and old graphics don't bother me. But all of the games on the SNES has uses pseudo 3D graphics extensively using that technology gave me a headache, even in the 90s. I won't name other games I have in mind, they haven't been picked. And there are some other good games that used it.

6.11 - Rock Band - Multiplayer/Xbox360

:headbang: When my daughter gets older, one of the things we'll reminisce about is playing Rock Band together. She's wicked good on drums.

Going to take a some time to think this one over. Many of the recent picks have sniped me.

6.12 Halo: Combat Evolved FPS/TPS

Somehow I lost this one on my sheets. LAN parties are just plain awesome, had so many good times at these. Not too mention it literally launched M$'s console from nothing to what it is today.

While we wait, here's a couple of videos in light of the Grand Theft Auto IV pick for those that didn't catch them from the other thread. This is what happens when you remove the friction values in GTA IV.

I think I just got everything in place after all those picks, please check since it gets confusing on the eyes when making so many copy/pastes.

Did Pitbull make up his two picks? He was last here today just before 11:00 am so I guess he is not on auto skip due to him not making up his picks. Just cant wait to pick.

You've got God of War as a platformer and I don't think you have that game on AcerFC's roster.Great job, though - this must be a pain to keep up with while drafting your own team.

Ya I saw that he was on FBG's, just didn't come here to make picks. I'm going to make my pick.
