Greatest Video Game Draft 2011 (1 Viewer)

8.08 Yo Mama selects:

GlaDOS - Best Villain

As the only person/thing to interact with in Portal, she starts out seemingly to help you but ultimately reveals her true intentions in the end.

A quote from IGN:

"GlaDOS left a mark on players like no other villain has. What began as a simple and helpful AI guide through a series of tests slowly twisted into something malicious, terrifying and hilarious.

Despite her being almost entirely artificial, GlaDOS somehow manages to be more human than most villains in videogames. GlaDOS isn't overly logical or calculating or emotionless. She's spontaneous, passionate, vengeful, and completely unforgettable."

#1 of top 100 villains of all time per IGN

#1 character who defined a decade per Game Informer

Been waiting on this a couple rounds, but better take her now since all the other games on my short list keep getting sniped.
Part of my write up from 8.10,"Didn't we have some fun, though? Remember when the platform was sliding into the fire pit and I said 'Goodbye' and you were like 'NO WAY', and then I was all 'We pretended we were going to murder you', that was great."

Fine, here.

"We were going to have a huge party for you and we were going to invite all your friends, but your best friend, the companion cube, couldn't come, because you murdered him. None of your other friends could come, either, because you don't have any other friends because you're unlikable. It says so right here in your file: Unlikable - liked by no one."

Madshot, did you share my list while I was gone?
No, but it is getting destroyed. To be fair, all but one of "your list" was in my top 10 big board, so it hurts me to.
Well, there were only 5 picks til me. So I sent you a list of 5, just in case. My main list probably has over 500 games on it. Maybe I'll share what's left on it after the draft is over.
That would be interesting to see.

Excellent pick.

BTW, madshot, sent you a PM but in the puzzle category on the 1st page, it lists Phantasy Star. I assume it was meant to be Minesweeper since that was taken around the same time. Just a heads up.

8.10 The Sims - PC - Flex

Not sure what category it should go into so flex should do. Its a fun game that made people who hate gaming addicted to it.

RPG, strategy/RTS, puzzle... also could go in one of the generations (fifth, I believe)...
I know, I just stuck it in flex for now because its so many damn things in one. I need to see how things go and then will probably move it.

I remember buying the game at launch on a fluke just because it was made by Maxis. For the several weeks, I was truly amazed at how much stuff you could do in the game and I remember telling people I worked with about my adventures with my roommate and neighbor, who eventually became my two live-in girlfriends who despised each other. But I quickly grew bored of it and stopped playing it and I've never played a Sims title since. They all look great and watching videos it looks like they've really spawned their own little world. It's so weird that I was playing it when no one knew what the hell I was talking about. I still have the game around here somewhere. For those who have played the newer installments, do the Sims still speak Sim or jibberish like "blah blah blah" or whatever. That was kind of funny. Also, did they ever add weekends into the game. I always hated having my Sim go to work every day. I think you got fired if you didn't show up to work 2 days in a row, so when I wanted a couple of days off, I'd have them not show up one day, then they would go the next day, and then not show up the next day. It's like a weekend, where you get off Friday, but work Saturday.

RPG and Strategy/RTS I get. Puzzle? Can't remember a single puzzle to solve in all the Sims games.
If I put it somewhere it will be the generation Strategy/RTS, the generation, or a flex spot.

It could go in either 5th or 6th Generation. It's right on the cusp of being on either side, leaning more 6th, but I only say that due to the expanions.

8.12 Read Dead Redemption (360) Story

Newer game but not sure many of you have played this but the story is probably the greatest videogame story I have ever played. Might switch this up later to a game since it has won many game of year awards and all that but the story was really strong

Na, if someone wants Skinny enough they can have him

Castlevania SoN should have been much earlier. Kratos is awesome to get in the 8th imo.... Little Big Planet at the end of the 7th is good too, should be platformer though, not puzzle.

Edit, Pitfall was one of my favorite Atari games too :goodposting:

Well, if it is one thing I do know about this stuff it is how to be modest. So, thank you.

wow you are maxed out in characters. IMO since character pool is so damn deep its wiser to get some top games in now before going all characters

maxed out in characters with top characters though. Many more games than there are characters.
Off the cuff I would disagree. Generally each game has more than one Character so wouldn't there be more Characters than games?
Systems have been built around certain characters and certain characters have been integral to their game and the series. Some characters are much more recognizable than others and some are more important to gaming than others. I have four that have been important to gaming for some time as well as their series and the allure to keep those going. Can't say that about (spotlighting).

Here is rikishiboy's pick.8.03 Minesweeper PC - Puzzle
Just aquick comment about this pick for me. There are only a few games I am really comfortable taking for this category...this is by far the simplest but has the most lasting memory at least for me. It used to be that this and solitaire were the only games that were free on many computers, so people (me included) would spend many hours playing them when we were supposed to be working...especially on a night shift.

8.13 & 9.01 PitbullTD Skipped

If anyone is out there that has been following the draft and can abide by the clock, you can have his spot if you want.

9.03 - Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf - Sports/Xbox 360

Golf is a beautiful game. And it looks almost lifelike in the Tiger series of video games.

The awesome news? The 2012 edition includes...The Masters! :hifive:

Since it's a sports game, do I have to specify the year? The version that I own is 2007. It's great, and I imagine the newer versions are that much better.

9.04 Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off Road - Arcade - Racing

Way too many quarters spent on this game with friends. I must still play it if I see the arcade somewhere.

Yes, the sports titles need a year because some year are much better than others.

Okay. Apparently the '04 version is the highest rated golf game of all time (Although I'm guessing 2012 will kill it.). Make it that. In which case, I'll have to change the platform to PS2. Not that that matters much.

I had two games lined up and I doubt either of them make it back to me. But researching games, I found this gem and I thought I could not pass it up. What a POS game IMO and who the hell let something like this even be made. Awful Awful Awful

6.5 Custers Revenge- Atari 2600, Worst game EVA

ETA: Video might not be SFW
