12.11 - Braid - Puzzle/Xbox 360
I'm fudging the "games I've actually played" rule a bit as I've only played the demo of this game. But even that sucked me in and I'm sure I'll get to it someday soon.
The atmosphere and melancholy mood combined with truly unique puzzle solving made this game one of the highest rated puzzle games ever.
Edit: Dr. Mario will have to be moved to the 5th generation category (N64).

Wish I could gift XBLA games to you. I'd give you my copy. It's a good game and the next puzzle game I had on my list to draft, but after you beat it a couple of times it's pretty easy to beat every time.

he wasn't whiny and emo, so he doesn't get the press that Sephiroth has always gotten...
He is, however, the only villain picked so far to not have a hero come along and destroy his plans.. He actually succeeds in destroying and ruling the remains of the world... 
I think that should count for something compared to guys who have failed dozens of times like Bowser...

Yea, ok, I agree w/ that. But consoles were soooo heavy JRPG until fairly recently, I kind of consider them one of the same (at least for that time period.)

Nah. I have 4 computers here with Windows (Win 98, XP, Vista, 7) and all of them came with Minesweeper. But thanks for the offer.

I remember reading the FFVI was the first console game with voice acting... I could be wrong... I definitely can't find it again (but can't think of any earlier games with voice acting in it)I think he meant first console FF character

Tommy Lasorda baseball for Genesis had voice acting for announcing. That was 1989. By the time FFVI came out, Genesis was putting out NBA Jam on console, which, well, put a 'laugh' to shame as far as voice acting.

no, Tetris has sold over 100 million copies on mobile phones, plus its Game Boy #s (like 50 million), plus its #s on every other console on earth...and I've never seen sales figures for Bejewelled, but I'd imagine they were pretty massive too (along with a few other similar PC games)...*That wasn't bundled with a system.

could have been non-sports game or RPG with voice acting.... (as both of those are sports games with commentary, which is why I hadn't thoguht of them... I'm pretty sure Madden was saying "BOOM" then, too)

good point about Tetris, you are probably right. But no way does Bejeweled have 50M downloads. Angry Birds is a phenomenon like very few others in recent history. Angry Birds as a Puzzle game? Is that the right category? Not arguing, just wondering because I honestly don't know where I'd put it. Now that I think about it though there's nowhere else you can really put it besides flex.

Would the game that Angry Birds is modeled after, and some would say copied, fair better in voting, or no? I just want it to be known that Angry Birds is not original and is essentially a copy of another game.
