Greg Camarillo to Vikings? (1 Viewer)

As a Dolphins' homer I think Favre can do wonders with this kid if the reports are true.

Also, there is now clear separation between the Dolphins' Top 3 WR (Marshall - Hartline - Bess) and the rest of the gang. I can't see anyone else getting substantial playing time unless there is an injury.

Patrick Turner may see some snaps this season. Guy has the physical tools. Deep sleeper for sure, but possible dynasty stash at the bottom of the roster.

I think Marlon Moore is going to end up WR4 when all is said and done. And it looks like we are just waiting to see what the Dolphins got in return. Brett Favre has a great 3rd down target coming his way.

PFT just tweeted: "It's believed that the Vikings are sending a cornerback to Miami for Camarillo, possibly Benny Sapp."

How will this guy look as a nickel back? Can a Vikes homer check in?
I liked what I saw out of Sapp when he was in at nickel...but, trying to get past Winfield/Asher Allen/Lito Sheppard newly acquired Chris Cook and the now injured Cedric Griffin would have left little time on the field for Benny.Looks like a win/win if the 'Fins were a bit light in the defensive backfield.

this would be an absolute steal for the vikes, they wouldnt miss sapp one bit imo, very average player. I will be surprised if this is the actual deal, or maybe I am overrating camarillo...

Camarillo won't have much value I think. I still think Berrian gets a big bump.
Camarillo caught 68% of the passes thrown his was during the last two seasons. His big problem has been injuries, if he can overcome that I think he has a good bit of upside.

I agree. Although not a big name, i think he is a bigger name due to the winning catch to get the Phins their only victory back in 2007, than anything he has done since. I can't imagine more than 600 yards and 4 tds at this point (learning a new offense), and in 12 team leagues, that person is usually not worth starting week in and out. Berrian, though, has the potential to be a 900 yard 7 TD guy and that is much more appealing to me.

Considering Harvin's problems with migraines and Berrian's injury history, Camarillo could have decent value during the course of the season. This is a great trade for the Vikings.

Yea, that was something I noticed about him too - they guy can definitely catch the ball. Don't know how much long-term upside he has, but he can help a win-now team for sure.

I have to ask then, why would they get rid of him (or even consider cutting him as the news mentioned), if he had a lot of upside. You take Marshall out of the equation and the WRs ahead of him are not that scary.

The only fantasy football relevance this possibly has is a small bump to Favre, as it gives him another weapon to use. I don't think Camarillo will be worth much and I don't think it really has much of an impact on any of the players in Miami, either.

I agree that it is a very good trade for the Vikings. Camarillo could really help them on third downs, and be another good target for Favre. I still don't personally think Camarillo will do much this year fantasy-wise, but he could have some big moments and make some big plays for the Vikes.

Does this mean Rice to IR may be more likely?
I don't think this makes Rice to IR more likely. They need some bodies at WR that have game time experience with the Rice injury and the Harvin migranes. Most likely I would think they woyuld evaluate Rice as a possible IR canidate if they need a roster spot later on.

I agree very much with this sentiment...good football move, not earth-shattering on the fantasy front.

They have a log-jam at receiver and must have needed whatever they got in return more. I'm not saying that you should write him down in pen for 1k yards and 8 TDs, but he's a very capable receiver and the Vikings are thin at that position in the near-term with Rice out half the season and big question marks on Harvin. The Vikings obviously felt a need here to trade for a receiver now when there will likely be tons of them on the waiver wire in a couple of weeks.

I don't see much from a fantasy standpoint here. 390/2

re: the FBG update. Funny how guys like him are always the ones called "overachievers". I chuckled.

Looks like a win/win situation to me.

Camarillo is a good, but not great WR. Reliable, dependable, but not (usually) game breaker. Miami has a stud WR, capable WR2/WR3, and young potential WR4. They are also relying on a rookie CB for nickel package, so getting someone experienced at this spot is a good fill in.

I actually like Camarillo more than Harvin. I know Harvin is a far superior athlete, but damn, the guy can't walk onto a football field without collapsing into the fetal position when the sun hits his eyes. Not sure how many games he'll be able to play. Camarillo is certainly a guy to make a play for if he is still on your waiver wires.

Cam gets to go home, good for him. Saved the Dolphins from an 0-16 season.

The recent play of Marlon Moore & Patrick Turner helped make this deal.

Wonder how injured Wil Allen is? Could also spell the end of his days in Miami.

I'm a little surprised that they didn't go after Vincent Jackson, given their small window of opportunity. Once Favre retires, and AP gets old, they'll be back in the middle of the pack.

They looked into it but weren't going to pony up $10m to Jackson considering his issues and the fact that they just gave more to Favre.

Rumours out of Miami are that the Fins want Jackson now. That would be amazing for the Fins! It's all sports radio rumour as of now.

Not going to happen. BS sports talk...come on man.

As far as Camarillo...I will miss singing this song we made up after every catch he made (remember the song Amadeus by Falco? now just keep saying Camarillo Camarillo..LOL)

Anyway he is a solid dependable vet. Think of Welker with 10% less speed and strength. If Percy Harvin continues to miis time Camarillo get easily haul in 50-60 balls this year as the #1 possesion reciever for the Vikings. Sidney Rice comes back mid season then all bets are off. But you have to wonder about Rice....that is really a huge blow for the Vikings. Elite guy and he is much needed. Berrian is average...very average.

I don't like the idea of giving draft picks and a huge contract to a headcase player (who is also guaranteed to miss games this year).
