Just looking at some of the pre-season game files and it seems as if Jennings is catching a lot of long bombs and is the legit #2 in this offence

When Walker was in GB Driver was considered a legit fantasy starter. So my question is with Driver potentially drawing the double teams in this offence does Jennings become a legit starter this FF season.

Kid has shown talent and may surpass some of the older veterans in the league that may be on the downside.

Guys like

I. Bruce

K. McCardell

K. Johnson

etc

What are your projections for this guy. Are we looking at a Marvin Harrison rookie season

65 catches 850 yards and 8TD's ???

Or could this guy potentially put up better numbers considering this is probably Favre's swan song.

There's a lot of "ifs" with The Packers. But If the o-line is at least average and IF Favre stays healthy,given their schedule and their defense I see no reason Jennings can't reach 65 catches and 800 yds. The TD's may be less than 8 however IF Ahman stays on the field and Favre's favorite red-zone target Bubba Franks is healthy. A lot of if's but I think The Packers are a very interesting "fantasy" team this season.

In fact, when I throw it..it looks like Im throwing it to the defender but then Donald comes around and makes the catch. And Im sure the defender is like "where did that come from?" But you know thats a route for example that I trust him on and I know that's what he does (makes the catch). And with Greg (Jennings), even with Fergie, and Rod Gardner and some of those other guys you know I really dont know what they do that well. Um, is there one particular thing they do better then the next? I feel comfortable with Donald in certain situations and just you know when I look at the film Im like 'I could have gone outside on these hook routes and a guy's wide open'. But yet I took Donald. And there's that trust factor. And you just have to kinda build that with guys and you have to find a play that some guys come across the middle and there a little tentative catching the ball and it may take a couple times before you figure that out. But maybe there great on out routes or go routes. So, in the meantime I'll just keep going to Donald. I mean he a tough joker now. People can say what they want about him. (They say) He's not a featured #1 guy and all this stuff. Once again, he's MY featured #1 and he'll bounce off of them and he's tough and fearless and just goes about his way. He has a certain way and he let's them (media?) say he's not this and he's not that but you have to build that trust and he has.We have guys that are as talented, probably more talented (then him). But once again, that alone doesnt get it done. He has certain intangibles that others dont or havent found yet I guess."

All things considered, I expect decent production from Jennings right off the bat. Then as Favre & Jennings grow to know each other during the course of the season, Jennings' decent production will become good, to very good production.

edit: I'd love for them to be better than that, because I own the guy in all three of my dynasty leagues! I think he can be a good one, but he IS just a rookie.

All things considered, I expect decent production from Jennings right off the bat. Then as Favre & Jennings grow to know each other during the course of the season, Jennings' decent production will become good, to very good production.

And as they develop defenders won't be able to double and triple Driver unleashing both. I think they have similar games.

Good find. I thought Farve was locked onto driver, but his really solidifies it.

I don't think he started the Monday night game. Dude... I wish he was the #2, because he is on the waiver wire in my league. If there is proof that he is the #2 somewhere... I would be ecstatic!

I see your the type that waits until after the fact and the sharks clean up before. If your league has him on the WW your either a 10 team league or if your larger don't have many sharks. Jennings has played as the starter basically all preseason. He also looked to have played as long as Farve did..
 
he's really wowed 'em in practice.. he's got sure hands.. apparently the coaches and Favre are loving the way he runs the routes. talk is that he looks like a vet out there.

given Ferguson's shaky hands and streaky history i can see Jennings not starting but getting more balls thrown his way.

dunno if 50 catches is possible but he's a guy to watch for in the future.

Looking at your roster in the sig, I would be cutting Drummond and adding Jennings.
 
Jennings started tonights game and all signs point to him starting the season as the #2 WR.

In my league... return yards count towards an individual's point totals. Drummond is now the #3 in a Martz offense. If he gets 100 return yards a game (which he usually does) and then catches two/three balls a game... he is outperforming just about every WR3 I could play. I would more likely drop M.Barber, becaue i have the RB bench covered.

I have a feeling Jennings is going to be someone special - and the fact that he'll be on a pass-happy team is very good news.

 
Jennings will make nice bye week replacement at least. I can't see him getting less than 50 yards receiving in most games with Favre at the helm and Green Bay's dreadul defense giving up big leads.

Bob McGinn, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers rookie WR Greg Jennings has taken over for WR Robert Ferguson as the team's No. 2 wide receiver. It came to light Friday, Sept. 1, after the Packers' 35-21 preseason loss to the Tennessee Titans when Jennings matter-of-factly mentioned that he had been informed of his promotion by wide receivers coach Jimmy Robinson before practice Wednesday, Aug. 30. Jennings will become the team's first wide receiver to become a full-fledged starter as a rookie since WR Sterling Sharpe in 1988. Jennings led the team in receiving in three of the four exhibitions and was second in the other game.

 
I'm starting to believe in Jennings...if only he had a better QB <gasp>.

What's up with the guy stroking his hammy at :26 of the first video? :unsure:

Jennings is the #2 in targets regardless if Ferguson is #2. Remember that Boldin was the slot receiver also the first year.He will not put up Boldin numbers because he is the number #2 targeted receiver but 900 yards and 7 tds is likely.They plan to use Franks as the primary receiver around the goal line again so that will take away a few TDs.

I don't agree with it. But I'm not rocking the boat. I'm still going out there doing my job. That's their decision."

well... he's not gone yet.

i had high hopes for Ferguson. he's got a great frame for playing WR in the WC offense. he's physical, he blocks well, he's willing... but either he has really really really bad hands or he psyches himself out of catching passes. that and he seems unable to grasp the nuances of the offense as the coaches would say, quite often, that he wasn't in the right place at the right time. dunno. shame he never did develop.

just one more wasted pick from the Sherman era. it's almost like we didn't draft any players at all for 4 years. :wall:

Packers' columnist Chris Havel offers his take on who the Green Bay Packers should keep on their final 53-man roster.

OFFENSE Quarterback (3)

Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, Ingle Martin — The suspense was removed with Brian Wrobel's release earlier this week.

Running back (3)

Ahman Green, Najeh Davenport, Samkon Gado — Noah Herron made a strong case to stay, and I would keep him over Davenport, but I'll be surprised if GM Ted Thompson goes that way. Green's injury history makes it risky and probably gives Davenport and Gado the nod. Neither was impressive during training camp and the preseason, and both are on borrowed time. Arliss Beach is a strong practice squad candidate.

Fullback (2)

William Henderson, Vonta Leach — Henderson's absence with a knee injury illustrated his value and the position's lack of top-flight depth. Leach's special teams play earned him a job.

Tight end (3)

Bubba Franks, David Martin, Donald Lee — Martin's inconsistency and lack of durability are concerns, but he's the best No. 2 tight end they have. Lee edged out Tory Humphrey with his special teams play.

Wide receiver (6)

Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, Robert Ferguson, Rod Gardner, Ruvell Martin, Carlton Brewster — Cory Rodgers' shoddy ball security costs him a job, while Martin's size (6-foot-4, 217 pounds), speed and willingness on special teams earns him one.

Offensive line (10)

Mark Tauscher, Chad Clifton, Daryn Colledge, Junius Coston, Josh Bourke, Jason Spitz, Tony Moll, Siitupe Peko, Scott Wells, Chris White — The Packers desperately need to add a veteran interior offensive lineman, either via trade or the waiver wire.

DEFENSE Defensive line (9)

Aaron Kampman, Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, Michael Montgomery, Jason Hunter, Ryan Pickett, Colin Cole, Kenderick Allen, Cullen Jenkins, Corey Williams, Johnny Jolly — Look for the Packers to trade a defensive lineman, perhaps Jenkins or Williams, to bolster another position. Kenny Peterson's lingering ankle injury costs him a job. Dave Tollefson is a practice squad candidate.

Nick Barnett, A.J. Hawk, Brady Poppinga, Abdul Hodge, Ben Taylor, Roy Manning — Poppinga may have forced his way into the starting lineup in place of Taylor. Either way, top to bottom, this may be the team's best unit.

Defensive back (8)

Al Harris, Charles Woodson, Ahmad Carroll, Jason Horton, Mike Hawkins, Nick Collins, Marquand Manuel, Tyrone Culver — It is risky business to go with just three safeties. Then again, if Collins, Manuel or Culver is injured, it is a safe bet that Tra Boger or Jeremy Modkins will be available off the practice squad or as a street free agent. Will Blackmon will be on the physically-unable-to-perform list, and could be promoted to the active roster in six weeks.

SPECIALISTS Long snapper (1)

Rob Davis — Davis is one of the best snappers, and at 37, still can run enough to get downfield and make tackles.

Punter (1)

Jon Ryan — Ryan's leg strength is astounding, but his lack of hang time remains a major concern.

Kicker (1)

Dave Rayner — E.J. Cochrane did nothing to lose the job, and he still may be given a chance.

That was the year the Packers drafted Jamal Reynolds in the 1st round and then took Ferguson in the 2nd round while passing on the local guy, Chris Chambers. :thumbdown:
 
who knew Chambers would be that good though? WI fans have a habit of complaining that the Packers don't draft every WI product who eventually goes on to be a good player.... but don't complain that we don't take the ones who go on to stink.

Sherman really did choke on his own ego with that one though. Fergie in that spot was a huge blunder.

I managed to pick him up in the later rounds of one of my leagues and as a WW pick up in another becuase I couldn't believe he was still there. He has shown flashes in the preseason games and in practice from what I have read of being a great receiver. The fact that he has earned the starting position speaks volumes of the talent that Jennings have.

 
I claimed him off waivers. I'm confident he'll be a solid contributer since I don't think the Packers will be competitve in most games so Favre will be gun slinging. :thumbup:

 
This guy won't be anything better than a WR4. Let's say, somewhat optimistically, Favre throws for 3900 yds and 24 TDs. Favre loves Driver, and Driver will certainly get a lot of looks, something like 1300 yds and 8 TDs seems about right for Driver. Favre also loves utilizing his TEs (especially in the red zone). Typically the TEs will combine for something like 800 yds and 7 TDs. The RBs will be involved of course to the tune of 500 yds and 3 TDs (with Ahman and Henderson getting most of the attention here). So that leaves about 1300 yards and 6 TDs for WRs 2-5. So really the best Jennings can hope to do in my opinion is 700/4 which would probably mean something like 50 catches. Considering he's a rookie, 50/700/4 is actually pretty good, and well worth a late round choice, but this guy won't put up Moss/Boldin/Clayton numbers.

 
Single covered, pass happy team with bad D, shown his skill set this preseason. I like his chances at having a Michael Clayton type rookie year.

Drafted him today in a 10 team 20 rounder at 20:3He's my 5th wr behind Holt,Chambers,Driver and EngramIf he gets 50/700/4 I'll be thrilled
 
I didn't read what anyone else wrote. Rookie WR in a team that needs to pass; I don't think it is good. Ferguson will be the number two WR at the end of the day.
