Greg Zuerlein (1 Viewer)

Adding to the lore of The Leg....

"Jeff Fisher knows Greg the Leg is special.

"Bironas has got a very strong leg," Fisher said of his long-time kicker with the Titans, "but I've not seen anybody like Greg.""

Perhaps most intriguing for Zuerlein (and possibly hardcore Fantasy Football enthusiasts) will be his fit with Fisher - a relationship that could lead to plenty of field goal opportunities as a rookie. Fisher will demand a ball-control approach that will move the chains with more consistency than the team saw a year ago under offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. Furthermore, Fisher has shown uncommon courage in allowing his kickers of the past to attempt long field goals. While under Fisher, current Titans' kicker Rob Bironas attempted 22 field goals over 50+ yards, including a memorable 60-yarder in 2006.

"After the Rams beat the Seahawks without an offensive touchdown but with four field goals from Zuerlein plus a fake field goal for a TD pass, running back Steven Jackson proclaimed Zuerlein the Rams’ MVP.

Quarterback Sam Bradford said this is the first time he’s been on a team where the kicker is the most popular player. He was shocked when the Rams called for the 60-yarder, just 3 yards shy of the NFL record.

"I was like ‘What?’" Bradford said. "But sure enough, he’s been awesome."

Once the Rams cross midfield, it’s Zuerlein time.

“I was on the headsets and I said, ‘Field goal,’ and somebody said ‘Field goal?’” coach Jeff Fisher said of the second record-breaker. “I said, ‘Yeah, it’s only 60. It’s well within his range.’

So I've now heard some of you say you have dropped Hanson, Tucker, and Graham for Legatron.

Honest question: Is there any kicker you wouldn't cut for him at this point? Are you all saying that Young G.Z. is your projected #1 kicker Rest of Season?
I dropped Matt Bryant for him in two leagues and it's funny that you ask this question because I made the adds while thinking that if I were to put money on who scores more the rest of the way, I would probably bet on Bryant, i.e. I would project Bryant higher than Greg the Leg for the rest of the season. So why did I make the move? Because I believe there's a chance that Legatron puts up #1 overall kicker stats and outscores Bryant by a sizeable margin. While I think it is more likely that Bryant scores more, I don't think he'll outscore Greg by a whole lot (less than 1 PPG). But Greg the Leg seems like someone I might actually regret not taking the chance on. He could be an actual difference maker from the Kicker spot and could be head and shoulders above the rest, which would be a huge advantage. Plus it's fun to actually be excited about my kicker. That, in fact, might be what tipped the scales for me. I have Legatron on my team!
Excellent post, Anton. That's the best argument for Legatron I've seen yet. I agree, it can sometimes make sense to value potential upside more than "expected average" results. I personally value the "safer" bet in Tucker, Bryant, Crosby, Gostkowski, etc. but I can see why you would want to go for the homerun. All I know is I'm looking forward, one way or the other, to checking back in on this thread after Thursday night. For all you new Legatron owners, I wish you many happy 60-yarders.

Worst to first waivers. Nabbed him with 12th priority.Love that they are trying to win games 19-14 and taking shots at 50 yarders (6 points) mid quarter to get there.

This post isnt getting near enough love. :thumbup:Yeah, it’s only 60. It’s well within his range.

More disrespect from FBG this week. They've got him on their Overvalued list this week, projecting him as the #25 kicker against the Cardinals. The logic is that STL won't score enough.

I wonder what Legatron would say to that? :boxing:

That is freaking awesome.

I didn't bid enough to get him in my league.

I've never been bummed to miss out on a kicker in free agency.

Until now.

:sadbanana:

I cut Mason Crosby for him this week. :bag:

I dropped Gostkowski for him. Gostkowski missed 2 FG's last week and I could see Pats just going for it if they doubt their kicker.

Just dropped akers for him in redraft.

Now starting him in all 3 leagues. Just wish I hadn't taken him out for suisham in the contest.

Love what Legatron has done so far this year. Who would you drop to pick him up?
Anyone who wasn't producing as well as Legatron is and you feel is expendable. That's who i'd consider dropping. In my league, Legatron is putting up RB2 numbers. Thankfully I've had the guy since preseason, but if I had to get him now, i'd drop any kicker I currently had.
What are you talking about with RB2 numbers? The only thing that matters is how he performs vs. other kickers...which is very good right now, but what does "RB2 numbers" have to do with anything? As good as he has been, he's not the #1 scoring kicker (that would be Jason Hanson). It's not like he's scored 5 points more a week than any other kicker in the league. So for you to so blithely say "I'd drop any kicker" for him like there's not even any consideration needed makes no sense. Now don't get me wrong...I think it's entirely possible he could end the season as the #1 scoring kicker. I don't think he will, but I agree it's possible. The original question of who would you drop to pick him up is better posed as "Where does he rank in your Rest of Season kicker rankings"? For me, I would rank the following kickers above Zuerlein for ROS projected output:AkersBryantGostkowskiCrosbyTuckerHansonI wouldn't drop any of those 6. In addition, I would have to think long and hard about dropping Hartley, Janikowski, or Graham. So if you drafted Dan Bailey, then by all means, grab Zuerlein and run with him the rest of the season. But for those holding any of the above 9 kickers, it's not as clear.EDIT: With all of that said, I wish I could bring myself to drop Tucker for Zuerlein. I haven't seen a fantasy player bring such joy to their owners since Joe Webb and his WR eligibility in 2010.
Legatron is the number one kicker in my league and I averaging five points more per game than my current kicker Graham...huge difference and Graham is tenth best in our scoring system. Five points for fifty plus yds and ten ponts sixty and over.

10 points for 60+ yarders is a lot points. We get 4 points for any kick 50+. Anything below 50 is 3 points. We also get negative points for missed FGs. Zuerlein is the #1 kicker in my league via week 4. Hanson is 1 point behind him, and Tynes, Gostkowski, Bryant, and Barth are the next 4. There are three rookie kickers in my leagues top 10 (Zuerlein, Walsh, and Tucker).

Yeah, they also say,
Zuerlein has racked up the points while kicking in the comfortable dome surroundings. This week, as Saint Louis travels to Arizona, expect a decrease in scoring chances for the rookie kicker.
Except of course, Z will be kicking at home, in the dome.

Personally, I dropped Hanson for him becuase of Hanson's bye and it was either that or putting a guy like Ryan Williams or Boldin on the WW, not something I was comfortable with.

This dudes such a beast. lol 60s like its nothing... "Once we get past the 50 its Zeurlein time"

Living in Cleveland, I thought Dawson was clutch... ### ####!

Me too. Only dropped Hanson because of bye. We'll see how Legatron does until the STL bye, and decide then whether to drop him or drop an end of bench guy for a one week K.

Picked him up for 8% of my FAAB this morning. Never thought I would spend that much on a kicker, but I knew a few other teams were looking for kickers and I had to have him.

So I expect him to put up a 0.

It's interesting that FBGs aren't behind this guy - it seems obvious to me he has everything going for him in the right direction.
In time they will change their opinions of him. Other sites have, and this one will eventually.

Ok boyz, I've Taken out Tucker and playing G-Zee as they just called him on NFL Network. lol... And yes I'm carrying 2 kickers :-)

Just picked him up this week to replace Hanson on bye. He may be my kicker for the next 10 years since it's dynasty!

Love that past the 50 it's Z time quote!
