Some people question Gruden's ability to be the man. They say he couldn't get it done in Oakland. They say he won in Tampa with Tony Dungy's team. They say he doesn't know how to deal with players: Keyshaun, Jeff Garcia, etc.

What exactly are the Bucs missing? Is there a common thread in the pre-collapse Raiders and the now possibly collapsing Bucs?

I don't know, but you have to wonder when it stops being the fault of player x or player y or player z, and the root cause is traced back to the head coach.

By the way, is there any truth to the rumor that Garcia congratulated Griese on winning the job and bought him a pet dog to celebrate the occasion?

i don't know that there's ever been another NFL QB who has a more inflated sense of his own abilities and worth. The guy is a first class d-bag of the highest order. I'm frankly amazed anyone has put up with his noodle arm as long as this...he should have been done before detroit.

Huh?And it's that inflated sense of worth that imo has been a key attribute in him becoming a good qb despite lacking many, many measurables.

Good QB? Let's not get carried away here. Griese is the classic "good enough to make the team, not good enough to start" guy. Take away his one decent season (19 TDs in 10 games in 2000) and he's the epitome of average.
