Skins place promising WR Hankerson on I.R.

Redskins placed WR Leonard Hankerson (hip) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Knowing Shanahan he probably did it because Hank was becoming fantasy relevant.

Coach Mike Shanahan referred to the promising rookie wideout's injury as "devastating," and Hankerson's loss is going to make it even more difficult for an already pathetic Redskins offense to generate ball movement. After a slow start to the season, Hankerson was finally coming into his own with an eight-catch, 106-yard performance in Week 10 against the Dolphins. On the bright side, this injury shouldn't affect Hankerson's 2012 effectiveness. He will return next season with a strong chance to be a starter.

I listened to part of Shanahan's presser today and he estimated a 4 month recovery time for Hankerson.

As a Hankerson dynasty owner in multiple leagues, yesterday was a great sign for the future. I came away impressed with him from the handful of Miami games I saw last year, and thought he looked great at the Senior Bowl. He's a big target. I couldn't believe he fell to the 3rd round. I just hope the Skins address the QB position in the draft.

Big fan of Hankerson, that's a tough blow. I did the game recap and I felt like he was flashing skills similar to another Canes WR named Reggie Wayne. I hope Hankerson makes a full recovery. He was leaping all over the place.
