To address the question of this thread, considering Gates wasn't even drafted, I don't think he could be considered a bust even if all we had to go on was this year's stats. The idea that he might be considered a bust due to one injury-ridden season considering the years of productivity he has already had seems a little bit alarmist.

Clearly the OP is referring to Gates potentially being a bust within the constraints of the 2008 season of fantasy football not his NFL career as a whole.

Currently the #2 TE in my non-PPR league. Probably drops to 3 or 4 after his goose egg. Not a bust.

He had a decent enough start to the season but weeks 8 and 10 have inflated his numbers enough to survive weeks 11-14 without falling off the PPG map. At a 6.72 PPG average I am not saying he's been worthless but vs. his ADP he has ... and is now virtually unstartable for any owner who survives week 14 if you have an option that is even exceeding 30 yards per game.

He may catch a couple TD's and he may have another big yardage game to close out the season to salvage things but so far he's way down from his career numbers and will likely not help many fantasy owners if he does.
