Awesome news.
So this Season will be all of Book 2 - Clash of Kings?
Awesome news.
Christina Hendricks would have rocked as a casting choice. Probably couldn't get her.Nitpicking: I thought the priestess should be hotter (she's basically described as a Christina hendricks bombshell in the book), and I must have missed the book's allusions to stannis' affair. Having not picked up on that, it seemed awfully out of character for a morally rigid guy like stannis to cheat on his wife for the mere promise of a born out of wedlock son. I think in general the casting and the translation have been spot on, though.
As I understand it yes...and Storm of Swords will be season 3 & 4 IIRCAwesome news.

I read an interview with somebody — one of the producers? — saying that wouldn't really be the case. There may be some stuff from Storm of Swords in season two, and there may be some stuff from Clash of Kings that will wait until season three. (Which kind of makes sense because that's how the books are too, really. The end of Clash of Kings and the beginning of Storm of Swords overlap in time.)As I understand it yes...and Storm of Swords will be season 3 & 4 IIRCAwesome news.So this Season will be all of Book 2 - Clash of Kings?
That is true. But they also will essentially be splitting Swords into two parts for Seasons 3 and 4. And Crows and Dragons will be combined as well being that they take place at the same time and possibly split over 2 seasons as well. That's in a few places, including the link above.I read an interview with somebody — one of the producers? — saying that wouldn't really be the case. The two episodes this year have been the highest rated in series history and I believe the highest rated cable dramas on consecutive nights. In addition, HBO is making a killing on international viewers and DVD/BluRay sales. HBO has tied their HBOGo and XBox HBOGo releases heavily into GoT. It is the featured show in most of those spots and has the most content. It has a ton of buzz amongst social media, critics, and bloggers this year. More Emmy and Golden Globe nominations are a near sure thing. This is HBO's marquee franchise and it isn't going anywhere.SO is HBO going season to season on the re-newal thing? Makes me wonder if they will make it to season 9 or 10 to end it.Hope viewership is doing well
It is both this and much more. Parts of Clash and Swords that overlap will be in this season and/or next season. However, the bulk of Swords will be split into two for Seasons 3 and 4.Ok, I understand. Q: How do you decide which characters to keep and which to drop?Dan: Ultimately, there are so many characters in the books that we’ve told George that if we cast all the characters in the book, we’d use all the budget on casting with no money for cameras or crew or sets.David: One thing that’s important for us to think about is that we’re making it for an audience that has some viewers who’ve read the books, and many whom have not. We want to appeal to both groups. There’s a huge number of characters. I don’t think there’s a bigger cast on television—Dan: I believe that is a fact.David.—and I don’t think anyone else asks viewers to process so many storylines and characters. And also one thing to keep in mind is that there are characters in the second book who don’t appear this season, but are coming in later. It’s just about so many new characters introduced in the second season, so we saved some for the next season. They aren’t being omitted, they’re just being delayed.Dan: A lot of it is just where does somebody really become central to the story, and we can’t afford to have people waiting around for their story to start.
Some hope for the Reeds and Ramsay Snow

Likely due to the high cost of production. My sense is that it has a strong and growing audience. I would not fear a cancellation any time soon.SO is HBO going season to season on the re-newal thing? Makes me wonder if they will make it to season 9 or 10 to end it.Hope viewership is doing well
True Blood is pretty much played out though. Didn't find last season anywhere near as good as previously and not sure what they'll do with it from here. When Eric turned into a lovestruck ##### that did it for me.True Blood is HBO's highest rated show by quite a bit and is made for much less money than GoT.
are the True Blood novels over? I mean is she done writting and is there a logical end point to that series? GOT will be there eventually, and Im guessing ti will take about 10 seasons to get there. And GRRM still has 2 books to write. However I have read that GRRM has told the producers how to end the series, and only them, shall he die before the novels are done. And I have also read that he does not want anyone to finish the novels for him, very interesting to say the least.True Blood is pretty much played out though. Well, Harris ran out of material by book 2 but continues to pump them out with no end in sight. Martin is at least a good writer, not a hack who just came up with a clever twist on an old story, so I imagine the source material will hold up better in successive seasons.are the True Blood novels over? Wasn't about the novels in my case, I've never read them. I've just found the series has really lost me as far as interest goes. Undecided as to whether I'll bother with the next one, will probably give it a shot for the first couple of episodes but won't be surprised if I stop at that.are the True Blood novels over? And that seems to be the game plan for HBO. Co-president Richard Plepler said at last summer's Television Critics Association press tour that the network would produce the series as long as Martin wanted it to.
I hope he at least has some sort of outline on how things play out written down and sealed in the custody of a laywer or something.are the True Blood novels over? Yes, it's official.HBO has ordered a third season of GAME OF THRONES.Like the first two seasons, it will be ten episodes long. This one will cover (roughly) the first half or thereabouts of A STORM OF SWORDS, the third novel in the series.I'll be writing the seventh episode, with the working title "Autumn Storms."Full details can be found at a dozen other places on the web, so I won't rehash 'em here. Just wanted to pass along the news to my faithful readers. We had a grab event tonight at the Bloomsbury Theatre. Now I'm tired. night, all.
I am very curious to know how much money GRRRRRM is making off the show? From GRRM today:

It hasn't happened yet.So did they replace the scene where Allister Thorne goes to King's Landing to ask for men with the letter being read at the small counsel? Didn't Mormont send Thorne down there last season after Snow confronted him?
Disclaimer: I haven't read the books...However, this has been explained in this thread and in the series on HBO.Greyjoy rebelled against King Robert, and Ned Stark helped his buddy Robert put down the rebellion. As punishment/insurance policy Ned took Greyjoy's only son as a hostage/ward of the Starks to ensure Greyjoy wouldn't cause any trouble in the foreseeable future...Can someone please explain to me why Greyjoy was raised by Stark and not by his dad on the Iron Islands?

Surely this is shtick? This season is a snooze-fest. Just downright boring.
I don't think so. So far, it's setting up what's to come, but it's definitely slow. I'm not worried as I know it's going to kick in high gear very soon, but it is definitely a bit slow right now.Surely this is shtick? This season is a snooze-fest. Just downright boring.

Lots of talking, some sex, but not much other action. I enjoyed most of it, but it hasn't been Raiders Of The Lost Ark. I think they have a minor pacing problem right now as the rollercoaster is just leaving the loading area, but I imagine it'll be more than made up for somewhere around midseason and forward.I would never characterize the last two episodes as boring.I don't think so. This show is easily comparable to the early geneses of great shows like The Sopranos, Deadwood, and Six Feet Under. Right now, the show is riding a wave that seems likely sustainable for four or five seasons, and I'm loving every second. As far as I'm concerned, Thrones is infallible barring some kind of catastrophe.'Gr00vus said:Lots of talking, some sex, but not much other action. AmericansThe sex. What's more disturbing: The sex or the violence?Fan of the books forever. Don't have HBO but on vacay and watched an episode. Was good and then hard core porn out of the blue. Is this normal for this series?

Disjointed and frustrating. Especially the second episode. Too much we need to check in on everyone. E.g., did we really need the scene with Dany this week or the peeping scene in the brothel?'jdoggydogg said:I would never characterize the last two episodes as boring.'johnadams said:I don't think so.
