So the question then is whether we get joff in episode 10, or not until next season. Episode 9 is when #### hits the fan in the last 2 seasons, so I would guess you are close, but isn't there 12 episodes this season, or am I just making that up? I assumed one would be in this season, one would be next. I am rereading book 3 now though, and don't remember what happened when in the book.

You may want those titles in spoilers. The curious thing to me is that grrm did episode 7. Previously he's done The Pointy End and Blackwater. This episode seems to not be as transcendent.

Thought it was a great episode. The Stannis scene was the weak link IMO, the Cat scene was close but saved by The Black Fish.

There is A LOT going on and I think they are doing a solid job juggling plot lines.

Agreed - and in this respect I think the actor is doing a great job. I feel the same way about Littlefinger. That guy is as smarmy as hell...good acting job. I hardly think of him as Carcetti anymore.

Basically all this Theon stuff is alluded to in book 5 as Reek/Theon's back story. So we get to actually see Theon get broken on the show, instead of just finding a Reek. I put it in spoilers because some people may think Theon ends up dead at some point, and knowing he is in book 5 would take that suspense away. This will actually be much better over all for his story.

Red Wedding first because Joffrey celebrates it, then Tyrion/Sansa because they both leave the night that the little ##### Joffrey chokes to death at his wedding feast. Tyrion and Sansa may be married the same day as Joff in a smaller ceremony, but since that's the last night they see each other, it has to happen before justice is served.

Actually: Red Wedding first because Joffrey celebrates it, then Tyrion/Sansa right after the red wedding so Tyrion will become lord of Winterfell. Joff dies at his own weding weeks later.

I remember this order because of the consummation (or lack thereof) on the wedding night of Tyrion and Sansa. I can't wait until Joff dies. My wife hates him, naturally, and I've been telling her he lives through all 5 books just to get her blood boiling.

Great episode. Amazing how despicable Jamie Lanister was at first and yet now you can't help but root for him. They're very good at changing these characters over time.

Also totally knew Dany was going to do something like that, no way was she giving that thing up.

I am still avoiding those for awhile until I get to book 5. If the show spoils Theon stuff, so be it, but I don't want to accidently get spoiled on any other happenings in book 5. Currently going through book 3 again, so hopefully I will have 5 done this summer or at least before season 4 fires up.

Great episode, that scene at the end was one of my favorite parts of the books. They made it kind of obvious on the show what might happen, it was much more subtle in the books. I remember saying to myself WTF is she doing giving up a dragon!!!! I rewound and watched it 3 times, very well done, quick and to the point.

Speculation on my part, but I see a few possibilities:

1. He's not really championing the Targaryans, but simply playing all sides. He wants to have a place in the inner circle no matter who is king.

2. He didn't think he could suppress the order without being found out by Littlefinger's spies or those of some other rival and didn't want to take that chance.

3. He didn't believe Drago would cross the narrow sea without some provocation. He put an open bounty on her head rather than hiring a professional assassin, gambling that whatever random dude got to her first would probably screw up the job.

IIRC He's the one responsible for Mormont being with Dany, he's the one who selected the "poisoner" and he's the one who tipped off Mormont that there'd be a poisoner. In other words, there never was a chance the assassination would actually happen, yet it appeared to everyone as though Varys was on board with it.

I like reading their analysis of the episodes and then how they compare to the chapters the storylines are pulled from. They've been hypercritical though of this season until this week. Especially about Cat Stark, which I think "who cares" about really.
