Heatwave - Southern California To See 115 Degree Weather Today (1 Viewer)

That's amusing given that the IE is like the Valley's little, less successful brother.
Yeah, I wasn't ripping the Valley. I think I sort of knew that. Riverside County is no peach. I'm just happy I haven't driven all over the place here.

Funny how you can always tell the guys who expect the worst in people.

I'm no snob. Donnnnnnnnn't carrrrrrrrre. Like Cutler.

I wasn't assuming you were bashing the Valley, living in the IE. No one in the IE would criticize where anyone else lives. I'm just saying it's amusing in that the Valley and IE are similar places, in their temperature, in being suburbs on the outer ends of the Greater Los Angeles sprawl that both get looked down upon. I grew up in the Valley and my girlfriend in Riverside County.

Gotcha. I really wasn't.

I sort of started this thread because right now I'm not thrilled with the sprawl within which I live. It's blasted hot. I live in San Diego sprawl, though, because I'm further south.

My first experience in AZ was landing at Sky Harbor coming in from Fargo ND to check out a possible relocation. 121 degrees at the airport. That was pretty friggin hot.

That is brutal.

And when it is east coast media flips the f out. Out here in the Midwest we call that “summer”.
Where you at in the Midwest? I've been to KC in August as a birthday present from my girlfriend's family to see my girlfriend. The weather is frightening. Combine that with being a heavy drinker, and you're asking for massive, massive cramping. Thank God I wore bad Hawaiian shirts the whole time I was there. Super absorbent with no sweat stains.

I love KC, though. I had a great time. Saw a bunch of Royals games, hung out. But man, was it ever over a hundred and humid. And the late afternoon storms? Something to behold.

Wichita area. In all fairness it’s been low nineties lately. Pretty civil. Seems like the first few burner days in June you suffer a bit but then you acclimate.

Cool. I toured Kansas a bit. Not sure we hit Wichita, but we hit Lawrence and kept going. We might have gone past Topeka, but we basically crossed the state on a long-### trip. Lots of sunflowers, IIRC. I just remember being at her house and witnessing the rain and being frightened of tornadoes. Fun times, though.

And you've got the Shockers!

East High grad. Miss the thunder storms and being able to go swimming at night without freezing when you get out of the water.

“But it’s a dry heat.”

I always laugh at my friends and family who reside in AZ say that. Usually when they try and convince me to move out there and I reply that I hate the heat. No, 110 degrees is Mother clucking HOT! I don’t care how dry it is.
It is a huge difference. I was in Connecticut last week with high 90s and humidity. I flew into Arizona in the 100s with little humidity. It is a night and day difference. I had forgotten how big a difference until I was in both climates in a 24 hr span. I will take 100s dry over 90s with humidity every time.

In process of moving from San Diego to Virginia Beach. Moved to VB to start work in mid-May, wife still in SD. Flew to SD for a visit on the 4th, returning tomorrow. This "heat wave" of 90-100 in SD is nothing compared to Virginia weather. 100 in SD area is much easier to take than 85+ in VA with associated humidity.

I've been everywhere from Death Valley and coastal California to all over the South,Northeast, and Midwest in different times of the year. Miami in late summer is the hottest freaking place I've ever been. It's unbelievable there in July and August. And I love the heat.

Having lived in both places 100+ degree heat here doesn't compare to temps in the 90s in NYC in terms of miserableness. It's a wet, dirty heat.
Without a doubt.  I lived in Sacramento for years where we would regularly get heat above 105.  I would still be out running errands and doing yard work.  Just need to stay hydrated and keep in the shade as much as possible.

The only outdoor protection from high humidity is floating in a pool.  It’s suffocating.

South Dakota checking in.  I hate this kind of weather.  It hit 95 yesterday and 90 today.  Miserable.  The good news is that we're probably only a few weeks away from snow.

Been in Maine at a beach house the last two weeks, been in the high 70s to high 80s every day. One day was partly cloudy though so that was a bummer.

I love the heat ... when you have escapes, like central a/c or afternoon thunderstorms that cool things off.  None of that business here in SoCal.  I actually want to go to work so I can bask in the glory of central a/c for 8 hours.  When I go home at 5ish, my house is like an oven.  And we even have a window unit a/c AND a portable unit firing full blast.  And I'm a 4-minute drive to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.  Ho hum.

We hit 103 here yesterday. It was miserable. Oh yeah, fire season is just getting started too.
