Help Convince my Leaguemate to go full Dynasty! (1 Viewer)

So I'm in the process of putting together a dynasty league next year. It's made up of my friends from three of my redraft leagues. I've convinced them to do IDP, but I need help convincing them to do full dynasty.

They say that they want to require dropping 5 players per year to keep some talented players in the draft. My argument is people would just drop crappy players. We don't want salary caps, so how do you keep it interesting/get good players in your drafts? That or how do I convince them to do full dynasty? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Actually, we have a similar system (no IDPs though) - we have starting lineups of 1 QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1 TE and 1K. We ALWAYS have to have 1 "mirror" for each starting slot (so every team always carries 2 QB, 4 RB, 6 WR, etc.) During the season we have 5 extra slots (21 roster spots total). A week prior to our draft everyone has to cut down to 16 - 8 starters and 8 "mirrors".We love it and it works great - and no, the guys that get cut are not always crappy. Sometimes guys will stockpile at a position (RB for instance) - but have to cut down to 4. It also leads to some good trading right before "cut down". Just as an example, Cedric Benson was cut and at that time of the preseason, it was already known that he was going to be the starter for the Packers. So in summary, the idea of a "partial dynasty" works great. Our league has been in exsistence for 8+ years and most of the original members are still in it and have a blast.

Is it possible to have a "lenght of time contract" without the salary issue?

I commish a Keeper league... we are allowed to keep 3 Vet & 1 Rookie.... we have a limit holding a player for 3 seasons. Players are either traded prior to the deadline on their 3rd year or they go into the draft pool afte the season. This season, owners kept A Rodgers to make a run during the playoffs.... he won. Rodgers went into the draft pool & went 1.01 pick.

Part of the fun of a full dynasty is the challenge of trying to find the next breakout candidate. 3 of the the dynasty leagues I am in use IDP with 40 man rosters and a 4 man taxi squad. Rookies only are eligible for the draft every year. Once the draft is over everyone that is a FA is available. We get $300 auction dollars for the year and use an auction system for Free agency. Once a bid is placed on a player, owners have 24 hours to raise the bid otherwise high bidder gets the player.

IMO if you are going to use IDP the key is to make IDP scoring relevant so it evens out with offensive players. We use 2 pt per tackle, 1 pt per assist, 6 points per sack (won't list for fumbles, picks and passes defensed). This makes your IDPs more valuable and makes trading an IDP for an offensive player more possible. This is key IMO to make trading more frequent. This will help a lot with player movement.
