HOU QB Schaub Hobbles Off Field (1 Viewer)

HOU QB Matt Schaub with what looks like a left knee / ankle injury. Hobbled off field. On sidelines now getting treatment. Looks mad.

The scary thing is look at how it happened...being pushed OOB. Im really worried about Shaub lasting a full 16 this year

Their fullback Leach injured his knee on the run into the endzone by Slaton. No word on him yet. Schaub was limping pretty bad. I'd be more concerned of it being a lingering injury, ankles take some time to heal and can easily be re-injured.

ankle injury.....nothing big
Thats what people said about Cassel on these boards Saturday night.
And he's likely to start week one. So what's your point?
Who are you hearing saying he's likely to start Week 1?J
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Matt Cassel's MCL sprain is unlikely to keep him out of the Chiefs' season opener.Lucky Cassel will get to face the Ravens. Schefter's report indicates that Cassel's sprain is of the "Grade 1" variety, or the least severe MCL injury possible. Still, Kansas City will have to improve its pass protection for Cassel to last. The 2008 NFL leader in sacks taken is not adept at avoiding the rush. Aug. 31 - 6:40 pm etI'll PM you details about my consulting fee:unsure:

Schefter is the only one we have saying that I know. Everyone else has 2-4 weeks and the team won't say a peep. Thought maybe you had something new.J

what worries me about schaub's health is andre johnson as well. if schaub is hurt, i don't like orlovsky throwing to AJ. sage was ok, but dan orlavsky (where is the end of the endzone at)

yikes.

Good worry about Orlovsky as he throws a tipped-pick. Have Schaub in one league, hopefully he'll be ok, but I knew this when I drafted him.

Considering he's never done it, I'm not sure why you'd be worried. I'd be pretty certain he'll miss at least 2 games. (And as an owner, I am pretty certain of it).

Calvin Johnson's production did not suffer with Orvolsky under helm. Usually the No. 1's production will not suffer because a backup's first read is going to be his Top WR.

I think the guy that loses value is Walter.

PURE SPECULATION ON MY PART.....

The injury Schuab appeared to suffer may not have been an an ankle injury. It may have something to do with plantar fasciitis. We will obviously know for certain in the next day or so.

"Plantar fasciitis is a common, painful foot condition. Patients, and sometimes doctors often confuse the terms plantar fasciitis and heel spurs. Plantar fasciitis refers to the syndrome of inflammation of the band of tissue that runs from the heel along the arch of the foot; a heel spur is a hook of bone that can form on the heel bone (calcaneus). About 70% of patients with plantar fasciitis have been noted to have a heel spur that can be seen on X-Ray. "

Judging by how he was running and how he reacted was exactly what had happened to me while playing soccer on the same type of surface. It feels like an ankle injury and it was a delayed reaction on my part much like it was for Schuab. The good news was he seemed to be moving on in it a lot more than I was after it happened to me. I also was fine after a week or two of rest and a heavy dose of anti inflamatories to take away the inflammation in my heal. Now once again this is pure speculation on my part. But judging from how he reacted and how the injury occured it would not surprise me to see this as the injury.

As long as we're speculating here, I currently have plantar fasciitis. I'm not sure that you can get it instantly from a hit or by tripping on something, I was under the impression that it was an injury that devoloped over time (at least that's how I got it).If that is in fact what he has, I wouldn't think it would keep him out. As far as football injuries go, it seems pretty tame. The only time it really hurt me enough to make me think about it is when I wake up in the morning.

Yes this is true. It was not really a specific incident where I got it but it was a specific incident of pounding hard on my heel that really aggitated it and made me grimace and limp afterward. My heel had been kind of sore for a couple of weeks but I had just assumed it was the aches and pains I normally feel during a season. However, I remember the incident clearly when I was running and stepping down to plant and it felt like i rolled my ankle that really caused me to go and get at looked at and diagnosed properly. It is managalbe though and I don't think it will cause him to miss time as a pocket passing QB if this were the injury.

As a Schaub owner, I too am concerned that he'll miss time this year. A game or two might be expected, but more than that should not be.

ESPN showed the hits that took Schaub out for 5 games each of the last two years. Both hits were delivered by the Vikings (Jared Allen on both I think) and both were dirty or borderline dirty late-hit shots at his knee. It's not like he got sacked up high and got injured. He's been the victim of cheap shots IMO.

Assuming that cheap shot doesn't come this year, he should put up top 10 numbers with those weapons.

Yeah, Schaub is soft. He really should be able to handle getting cheap shotted a lot better.

This is obviously something minor and he will be fine. He's got two weeks and he could have stayed in last night.

Rich Gannon was talking about this exact thing on NFL radio last week. They had Schaub on for an interview and asked him how he plans to stay on the field this year and he replied with something like better conditioning, etc. Once he got off the line, Gannon just shook his head and said that he didn't like Schaub's answer in the least and what he should've said was that he needs to stop taking those big hits and throw the ball away if he has to. He just seems to take more pounding than the average QB and that was on full display last night. Granted I thought at least one of those hits by Allen was a cheapshot.

I'm glad I drafted Cutler as his backup, because I was concerned that he would not be able to play a full 16.

Stump The Schaub is more durable than Matt.
