Brady had all day to make a pass. That certainly contributed to Moss' success today. It seemed like his routes were run perfect and it was very clear after the TD connection that Brady and Moss are in sync. Moss ran a deep crossing route and hauled in the ball a half step in front of three defenders. He was targeted 11 or 12 times, no drops.I was busy watching Henry and a few other games and didn't tune into the NE much. Obviously, R. Moss exploded, but was he targeted a lot? Was he getting wide open? Or was he just being the physical freak that he is and catching everything in sight?

We'll see. Brady was making perfect passes today due to the time he had. Moss looked like he could have caught all of the passes he caught with his eyes closed. Brady won't make perfect passes every week, but I think both he and Moss are good enough to still have this type of production. Just because he had all day doesn't mean he and Moss won't still produce big time.Brady had all day to make a pass. I didn't think the same speed was there... however, his route running was fantastic. Granted... it was against a rookie (Revis) and Justin Miller who is just atrocious, but that long TD pass he did have 3 defenders on him.As noted above, Brady did have ALL day to pass. As a Jets fan, it was rather irritating to watch... he was basically flat footed at certain points just waiting for someone to get open. Regardless, Brady will find ways to get Moss the ball, I just don't think he'll reach 150+ too often as Brady did look the way of Welker quite a bit as well.Moss made it look easy. Scary good like Minnesota Moss. He relaxed, showed that great 5th gear that looked effortless, and that great footwork near the sidelines. This Moss was too distant in my memory to count on him coming back, but it certainly looks like he's make and going to help a lot of fantasy teams win as long as he's healthy.
If you're expecting 9 catches / 183 yards / 1 TD per week you will be very disappointed...We'll see. Brady was making perfect passes today due to the time he had. lol...ok. Well, he IS 7 feet tall with a 48 vertical jump, so unless he shrinks or loses the ability of his knees, I guess he'll continue to make those catches.Finless said:He looked sluggish and quit on quite a few plays. A couple things here. First of all, this is why people say it looks like he's slow. The Patriot defenders were talking this offseason about watching film of them covering Moss in practice, and all of a sudden they'd realize how fast he was going, and they were all flipping out about it. He doesn't look fast on the field because he's big and gangly but he just glides around so quickly and accelerates in and out of his moves so effortlessly that it's really deceptive. That's not inconsistent with what the Oakland fans and coaches said, either, when they were talking about how he'd lost a step. I'm sure he's not as fast as he once was, but he's still very fast. But temper the enthusiasm about the TD catch a little. He was outrunning a safety, a linebacker, and a weak corner. He won't get that every week.On the bomb TD catch it looked like he was just jogging yet he was 5 yards in front of everybody and made an easy TD catch.
Didn't say I was. I said they'd produce big time. But 50-75% of that production for the average per week is still pretty respectable. As someone else pointed out, he missed a second TD by inches. Have to think he'll have a few multi-TD games as well.Just on Fox - "most yards Brady has ever had to a single receiver in one game". My point is, they don't need "all day" to put up respectable (not incredible like today), respectable numbers on most weeks with an occassional big game thrown in the mix here and there. If you're expecting 9 catches / 183 yards / 1 TD per week you will be very disappointed...We'll see. You drank the moss is washed up kool aid didnt ya? lolI can't believe I don't have Moss in 1 @!#%& league. Brady looked unstoppable with that line and those weapons.
Looked like the old Randy. If you drafted him, congrats, you may have the steal of the draft.

How did the D look with out Harrison and Seymour?Moss and the Patriots as a whole looked scary.Finless said:He looked sluggish and quit on quite a few plays. From the highlights I saw, Jarvis Green filled in nicely for Seymour (again). Was that consistent the whole game? How did Marriweather look? The one negative thing about the defense was that the Jets were able to gash them on third downs. They seemed to get into a lot of third and longs and pick up a long screen pass or a deep pass play, which is how they put together both their scoring drives. If they're having any problems at all with the Jets' offense, they'll need to solve them before they play the Chargers next weekor the Colts in week 9.
Very solid. They dominated in rush defense and kept the Jets from making big plays. They were a lot tougher and more physical upfront than the Jets. The addition of Adaluis in the middle along with a still improving Vince Wilfork made things real difficult for the Jets. Jarvis Green is as good as you're going to get as far as a backup goes and he had a real nice game in place of Seymour. As far as James Sanders goes the fact I didn't notice him is probably a good thing. It's tough to really say how good the Pats pass defense is because Pennigton's arm just doesn't lend itself to testing a secondary. Yet, there was little doubt that this unit was too big and too physical for the Jets too handle. Next week will be a far bigger test as to how good this unit is.How did the D look with out Harrison and Seymour?Moss and the Patriots as a whole looked scary.Finless said:He looked sluggish and quit on quite a few plays. And the catch where he set up the Evans TD was classic Moss, though a younger Moss probably would have fought for that one yard and scored.Throw it 5 feet above his head just before he turns at the three and outleaps the defender (who has his back to the ball anyway b/c he's scared Moss will go the corner). We'll see. The one thing the Jets do really well (the short passing game) is the area I feel the Pats have been the most vulnerable. IMO they should have used Leon Washington far more in this area. The thing that hurts the Jets is that Pennington really can't hurrt you long so they can't mix it up as much as they should which is too bad because Coles and Cotchery are a very solid duo.The one negative thing about the defense was that the Jets were able to gash them on third downs. They seemed to get into a lot of third and longs and pick up a long screen pass or a deep pass play, which is how they put together both their scoring drives. I know that is hyperbole, but Jerry Rice has something to say about separation downfield - so does Marvin Harrison.Moss' downfield game was being a physical freak - outleaping defenders, making circus catches, running away from defenders after he catches the ball, etc. A lot of those skill have eroded due to age and injury - for instance, he was caught from behind one play where 2G Moss would have been long gone.Moss caught a 51yd TD out of a SINGLE WR set. NE had max protection. Moss was covered 1st by a LB, then by a corner, then shadowed by a safety, then ended up with THREE defenders on him before catching the TD. Moss is one of the few players that can make that play work because he is the best down field receiver we'll ever see. Great job by the Oline today. I expect alot more of the same.
Moss was not in in all of the goal line packages. They switched it up between Kelley Washington (who seemed to be play almost as an extra tight end), Moss, and Welker. I posted about it pretty consistently in the game thread if you're looking for the specifics, although I mistakenly said Stallworth was in on one drive when it was actually Washington. It was unnecessary (or unused) today, but be very scared that the entire repertoire with Moss down by the goalline has not been used. I have no doubt teams are going to be hard pressed to cover Watson, Stallworth, Welker plus Moss inside the ten yard line. Moss is an absolute beats catching the ball on the fade route or in the back of the EZ.
True, but what was really impressive about that play (on Tivo) is Moss totally ROASTING Revis on the jam at the line and then speeding through the heart of the zone defense like they weren't even there.4) On Moss' big TD, he wasn't "triple teamed." It looked like zone coverage that broke down, when he got in between a safety and the corner. Having a LB and CB chase you after you have a 10 yard head start isn't "beating triple coverage".
Im sorry. Ive never seen a receiver better 50 yards down the field than Randy Moss. I dont care that he's 30 years old and slower than he was 8 or 10 years ago. Tell that to the 3 Jets trying to cover him on that play today. Rice played in a WCO and rarely was ever thrown to 50 yards down the field. Harrison is certainly in the conversation, but 50 yards deep there's nobody better than Moss.I know that is hyperbole, but Jerry Rice has something to say about separation downfield - so does Marvin Harrison.Moss' downfield game was being a physical freak - outleaping defenders, making circus catches, running away from defenders after he catches the ball, etc. A lot of those skill have eroded due to age and injury - for instance, he was caught from behind one play where 2G Moss would have been long gone.Moss caught a 51yd TD out of a SINGLE WR set.
