How do your leagues structure the rookie draft? (1 Viewer)

we've been doing online 5 round draft with 5 min per pick. through reading some posts it seems to me some of you must have a very different format. I'd love to hear what variants exist so I can steal some good ideas for our league.

Thanks in advance!

3 to 7 rounds depending on league, and all have a 10 or 12 hour clock. It is too hard to get people on at the same time to use a 5 min. clock, that seems crazy.

I'm especially interested in hearing how these extended draft periods work out in terms of trades etc.. How many days does it take to complete with 10 and 12 hour counters?

I know you have some great stuff to contribute. Brag about how cool your rookie draft is.

We do a 7 round rookie/FA draft with up to 24 hours to make a pick. We start on a Sunday and usually get through about 2 rounds by the end of the day. Then it's about a day per round to finish it out. Usually takes 4-6 days to complete.

Do 5 rounds with a 24 hour clock. We split the draft in two though so round 4 begins during the preseason. This adds value to the 4.01 and gives the worst team another asset.

Even with a 24-hour timer, most people in my Zealots drafts pick at a reasonable pace. Note that the long timer is a max; people can pick early and set up pre-draft lists with MFL. There's usually one or two "long" delays because someone's at work or out for the night, but our six-round drafts usually complete in about 5 days. The delay helps negotiating trades, particularly if a person gets excited about someone still available and wants to move up.

Just wrapping up a 12 team, 5 round rookie draft with 12 hours per pick. It's a very active league and first two rounds were done at the end of day one, with the whole draft taking about three days.

I know ours is different

We do rounjd 1 pre draft a day or 2 before the draft to keep the league interested(16 teams). This makes it more about talent over situation but teams can get burned as they did this year with Ryan Nassib going 5th overall in Flex QB league

Than we do round 2 through 6 in August which is a live draft. Makes the 1st picks in round 2 quite valuable and gives teams that sucked a nice 1-2 advantage. Live seems to bring out more deals for sure.

We also have a bouns 7th round for those who show up in person to the draft.

16-team league, 24-hour clock, 7 rounds. Usually goes for a week or longer if owners are pokey and/or trade-happy.

Interesting. Curious, who was selected at 4.1 last year? And how is the 4.1 treated value wise? More valuable then a third? Second?
