This was the best line of the night. Also, loved the song at the end. Other than that, I disagree with eveyone else, hated the episode. The time traveling was lame and just wasn't funny to me. They don't keep the things they've said consistent. In the original robots versus wrestlers episode, Ted said they got together every year to watch it but one year later no one but Ted makes it? Just sloppy writing. The episode just felt like filler. Nothing to move any story point along.
My wife and I both thought it was an overall bad episode. It had moments - the whole drink name fight was funny and future Ted/Barney were amusing. Walking to her door though? just weird.
That was imaginary.
And still weird. Didn't like it.
Meh. It was Ted's little romantic fantasy of knowing his life sooner than he did in reality.
You know, even though the show revolves around Ted, I think he is the weakest character. Last night just affirmed to me how pathetic and annoying he really is.
Yep. I only catch it in reruns occasionally but Ted is like nails on a chalkboard. I would have gone with hyper-nuerotic but I think weak is the better descriptor.

I just caught up on this today. I was wondering if anyone knew how they filmed that at the end with 3 Teds and 3 Barney's singing.

Just an educated guess, but...The wide shot was filmed 3 times with a stationary camera (once with Ted/Barney on the left, once with Ted/Barney in the middle, once with Ted/Barney on the right), then merged together with editing software. All the close-up shots were filmed separately (notice that the close-ups only show 2 of them at a time). The entire singing track is an overdub that was recorded after the fact. All the different parts were probably rehearsed dozens of times before they attempted any filming. Also, notice that the people in the background don't change during the wide shots. They must have been present for just of 1 of the 3 wide shots.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rf_ptmcJXBk

“Did you know that for the first two years of my life, my dad treated me like a cat? Seriously. I wasn’t permitted on the furniture, I had to bathe myself, and I was only allowed to poop in a box. Ironic that this all comes out in a bathroom. A place that for so long I yearned to be. This tiled prison that eluded my saddened grasp was a haven. The unreachable. When I finally did demand a bathroom visit, my dad applauded my moxie. And that’s the only time my father ever said he was proud of me. Maybe that’s why I stole credit for your drink. Maybe that’s why I needed to pour my heart out like this. Or maybe I wrote this so you’d be in here long enough for a lady to walk in, causing you to freak out and hide in the stall.”

Good episode until the final sequence, which I thought was way too schmaltzy.

They had better introduce the wife this season. I'm now at the point with this series where I get about three-fourths of the way through Groundhog Day -- like it's a great concept, but it's been stretched passed its breaking point and I'm starting to get sick of the whole thing.

That's funny... I don't know who he is, but funny none the less.

I really liked last night's episode by the way...

My kid (with an eyeroll) when Ted was on the beanbag chair in the street, going on and on about it: "I know! The chair's the mother!"

Too bad it was a yellow poncho instead of an umbrella. Close, though.

Shark...jumped.
Yeah, i don't see how their relationship makes any sense. How many women would be okay with an "aunt" like this and her husband telling her kids how much he loves this aunt?
I figured the dad saw her bury the locket, went back and dug it up... then he was going to show up after she opened the box and it was empty..

But to have Ted and Robin going down this road AGAIN, are you ####### kidding me?? How many times do we have to be subjected to this?? Unless Robin is the mother (which makes no sense at all), this angle has been played out, WAY out...

No, we know it's not Robin (which makes this sort of stuff maddening.) We know his wife is a bass player for the wedding band and was the ex-roommate of a girl who Ted dated (and turned gay apparently.)

It's bad enough when TV shows toy with the audience by doing repeated "will they or won't they" storylines.....but when you already know that THEY WON'T GET TOGETHER, it just comes off as manipulative and cynical. And if the marriage gets called off next week, the audience will feel more manipulated than ever before. A fanbase can only accept a certain amount of ridiculousness before it finally throws up its collective arms and says, "I give up" (see: "Lost").

My cousin is convinced that Ted and Robin will end up together. She does not care one bit about all the reasons why they can't. I'm convinced half of the viewership would love it if they did get together.

I don't have a problem with Monday's show. Ted and Robin are really close. They've always kind of had feelings for each other, but not enough to commit. This kind of stuff happens all the time in real life.

Most likely those feelings will haunt them until the wedding day, when Barney will do something crazy to cause Robin to go through with it, and Ted will meet his future wife.

Watching the older episodes on Netflix, the writing has been really good, but the show is running out of gas, and quickly. I only caught the last 10 minutes the other night, and didn't really get it. It's time to introduce the mother, and let the show ride off into the sunset.

We already know the marriage isn't going to happen. We learned that in the season premiere this year.

Huh? I actually think it will happen. They showed Barney and Robin having doubts before the wedding but during the season didn't they show scenes of Ted watching the "mother" perform during the reception of the wedding?

Yeah I don't recall them saying it wasn't going to happen. Just that there would be serious doubts.

Dang, I'm a couple episodes behind, and admittedly shouldn't have looked at the thread, but is THAT the mother? Ted has done way better.

Were you guys really expecting smoking hot that much?

I wasn't sure what to expect, but Teddy Westside going for cute isn't some shock. He fell for annoying Victoria and her cankles a couple of times. It wouldn't take much for this chick to be a major step up.

I'm glad they went this route. Chicks that are attractive, but have lived life not being as hot as their best friends can often make the best wives. Generally, very cool and great in the sack.

This is also a show starring the lovely, if not crazy smoking hot by Hollywood standards, Allyson Hannigan. This isn't a big surprise.

Maybe not smoking hot, but in terms of looks, she's in the bottom 10% of girls that ole Teddy Westside has dated/hooked up with.

And considering what the daughter turned out like i was expecting at least a 7.5 on the offdee scale

Probably.

Though, I would say in terms of popular long-running sitcoms starring serial bachelors, Mosby's line-up fairly weak. He's no Jerry Seinfeld.

Victoria, the chick from House (not the hot one), and the tall redhead from That 70's Show. All attractive, but it's not like he was rolling young Teri Hatcher out either.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some hot ones, but Robin, the Mother's roommate, and the hotter chick from House are the only crazy hot ones I can remember. (and Robin's had her rough spots though I don't hold it against her).

Also, pretty much every non-Robin girlfriend as also generally been quite annoying.

ETA: Oh yeah, forgot about Chalke.

Actress is Cristin Milioti, btw.

So that Lyndsy (are you ####### kidding me with that spelling?) Fonseca chick is attractive. Was not aware of her until just now, holy moly.

You can see a lot of her in Nikita...been on that show for years in a co-leading capacity...
