People who think Owens will be back don't understand the Eagles ownership & Reid.  Neither party will accept this kind of behavior
Yet he was like this when they brought him here. If they don't put up with it then they wouldn't have brought him there would they? That statement is a bit contradicting. Also he has been doing stuff the entire time in Philly, it isn't like this is new.

FWIW- I have a hard time believing that this was the only time in the history of the nfl that there was a locker room fight. In fact, I'll go so far as to say it's happened more than once THIS SEASON. I think it's more on Hugh Douglas for being there in the first place than it is on T.O. A guy who doesn't even play, comes in and questions your manhood? I'd be all up in his face too. Maybe that's just me but if you aren't playing along side me and training and practicing every day with me/us STAY THE F OUT OF THE WEIGHTROOM AND SHUT THE F UP! Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying TO isn't a complete ### but why egg him on? Sure he has said some REALLY stupid things but Douglas had to know he was going to get something out of him by verbally attacking him.my.02vill

Per Sirrius Owens was not suspended due to late paperwork. Douglas / Owens fight was over Owens potentially faking the injury.TO was told to appologize to McNabb (personally) or he would not play.IF he appologizes to McNabb this week he's will llikely play. If he does play it will be very tough for him not to make another dumb comment to the new media and really get suspended.

Hearing some of the back when his ankle is ok stuff.

Does anyone really believe he was injured? Or isn't healthy now?

J
Seems like he's been faking since the first groin pull a few years ago. Ever since then it looks like he's been doing it to miss practice. The ankle might have been sore but the emphasized limp was likely for the media. He wants to build upon his reputation of being a warrior.

I hear you there PB.Although I think they will absolutely let him back if he just simply sincerely apologizes. He has not gone past the point of no return in my opinion.

The entire thing hinges in my opinion on if he can find it within himself to apologize sincerely. I believe that is the only thing standing between T.O. and an Eagles uniform in week 10 or 11.

Reid was very clear the door was still wide open.

We'll see I guess.

J
"Sincerely?" Do you honestly think anyone in that locker room would believe any words coming out of his mouth were sincere?

Their is NO CHANCE IN HELL TERRELL OWENS EVER WEARS AN EAGLE UNIFORM AGAIN. Wake up guys this has been brewing for months now and Andy Reid and the Eagle organization has put up with much more than they ever would have for anyone else. I don't care what he does at this point, Owens is done in Philly. He had his chance to apologize and shoved it up Reid's butt for the last time when he did not do it. Joe are you a TO owner in denial or what? Sounds like your holding on to a lost cause and I have no idea why you would be? Clayton has sources you can only dream about and would not have said "absolutely not coming back" if he didn't know it already. Owens is done in Philly. Get over it and move on with what his owners should be doing. I would be willing to bet the house that he will never play another down for Andy Reid again. It should be a simple deduction now after the news of all these fights and him calling out the whole team so he could beat them up. I mean come on here, wake up the guy's has no shot in hell to play again this year for the green and white. Do you realize the amount of embarrassing publicity the Eagle organization is taking for allowing this to happen? Reid is a man of respect and is losing everything he has stood for his entire coaching career over this. He demands respect and has gotten none from this creep. Reid loses everything he has established in the NFL if he allows him back after all this BS. No way it happens.

I am pretty surprised that a post like this would even be put up by the owner of a FF information web site. Reid knows his team might be done this year as far as the playoffs are concerned. In that division with a defense that is playing terrible this year and a brutal schedule in front of them still. He has to make a big stand here right now or lose his team and his players respect forever. Anyone that knows anything at all about Andy Reid knows that just will never happen to him. If they happen to play well and make a run without Owens then Reid gets exactly what he wants out of throwing that cancer off his team. Did anyone think that Mcnabb may have gone right to the top of the organization and to Reid himself and said its me or him after he has been playing his butt off while hurt all year only to have TO rip him yet again this week? If we had Farve we would be 7-0? that is a way low blow and must have really hurt Mcnabb and Reid not to mention the whole team, city and front office and owners, Anyone worth his salt would demand that Owens be gone or else. I bet the owner even chimed in and said that's it, get rid of him now. Just think about what this jerk off has pulled now over and over again? How much can be taken? No more, its over and I would bet anyone here as much as they wanted on it. Again I can't believe anyone who follows the NFL like you Joe would ever think that TO is coming back to the Eagles ever again. I mean it sounds like you think he is coming back for sure? Do you really think that? He had his chance to apologize and blew it off. Why is this situation so hard for you to digest Joe? Why are you holding on to this for? It's over, done deal. If he begs and says I'm sorry from now till eternity, it would be to late now. He had his chance the other day and blew it. Reid told him to make an across the board apology to all involved or pay the consequences and TO made some no hearted 20 second rant about his individual numbers. Not only that, the next day he ripped the team and Mcnabb yet again on his radio show. That was the end all right then and there. No more chances to apologize after that. This as simple a call as I have ever made and have no idea why you people are here holding on like this? Tell them to go get Lewis and Brown Joe, these guys are holding on to TO now for no reason because you are giving them hope when maybe they could get something still in trade for him from guys who believe like you do. Don't be making a major mistake like FF Index did this year by putting Bell on the cover of there Magazine. You can bet that they would give there left testicle to take that nightmare of a decision back. Wow and Willie Parker is done too, not your day guy.

Well I know I am right so what should I say?

If I am wrong and TO plays again for Reid I will come back here and say you were right everyday for a year. IF IF IF. If I am allowed.

Shark
Hi shkr,Yikes. You got all that from

Some like John Clayton are speculating he's done for the year. Others like Steve Young say that if Owens were to apologize Monday, he'd be back next week.

What do you think?
J
:blackdot: I may not think TO will play again, but it is down right foolish to say there is no chance. If that were true Andy Reid could come out and say it, "TO is done" or they could cut him. It is obvious the Eagles want to leave the option open, which means there is obviously a chance.

The media is forcing the Eagles to bench him for the year.. They continue to say he should be sat and building a following of fans agreeing.. I believe the Eagles suspended him cause of the media.. More so then his actions.. It's amazing how many articles ESPN has to have on the situation.. They have become so drama drawn it's sick.. I can tell you I hardly visit the site any more.. I go more for stats then anything else..

They are the ones who put that whole Brett Farve thing out of context. Even yesterday they kept leaving off the part of the interview where Owens says if McNabb was healthy they'd be doing better also.Obviously, plenty of this is TO's fault, but I do think ESPN is actively trying to escalate the situation.

For some reason this makes me think of when Barry Bonds and Jeff Kent nearly came to blows on TV in the dugout back in 2002. If memory serves, neither one of those guys was kicked off their teams or suspended -- and both of them were active players in a live game rather than some ceremonial, behind the scenes "team ambassador" like Douglass hanging around the weight room and making accusations/passing judgement, true or not, justified or not. And, like T.O. in football, BOTH Bonds and Kent have been perpetually accused of being perhaps the worst teammates in baseball history. But they were excused and allowed to keep playing. Why? Talent, fan-draw, ticket sales, etc etc.

Bottom line, no matter how badly a player has behaved -- and don't get me wrong, T.O has behaved in the worst way possible for much of his career and forced the Eagles' hand here -- I think we all forget how quickly stupid behavior from stars in all sports is quickly forgiven once everyone remembers how much they're needed for their teams' success. And I think we're forgetting 1. how fast Americans like to see their stars rise, then fall/get torn down, and then rise again, and 2. how there's a pervasive "give the bad guy one last chance" M.O. in this society, and that includes people who run football teams.

I just can't help think that T.O. will play for the Eagles at some point again this season.

Hey Joe,When you're sincere about something, that means you believe in whatever you're doing. For TO to be sincere in this case, he would have to believe he was in the wrong.

No way do I believe that TO think's he's in the wrong here. I don't care if he starts crying on TV during his apology, I don't buy it.

Back next week. I'd bet on it.
I don't think so. Bringing T.O. at this point would anger the rest of the team to no end. I think collectively, the entire Eagles team and management are fed up with all of the chances they've given him. They want a sincere apology and guarantee of an end to the B.S. on THEIR terms, and not T.O.'s, and that's simply not going to happen.

Philly needs Owens more than Owens needs Philly. Sad, but true.
Nobody is needed that badly. TO is not bigger than the team or the game. As soon as that becomes clear to Owens, the quicker he can start to repair what's wrong with him.

IMO, he's done in philly..its the final straw..he'll be elsewhere next year, dallas anyone??lol..as a giants fan, I love to see the eagles falling apart at the seams!

When's the meeting? Does Reid have a press conference scheduled for today?
Reid's press conference has been moved back to 3pm EST. It was originally scheduled for noon. No reason was given for the delay.Also....

Eagles president Joe Banner confirmed that Terrell Owens has been suspended without pay, ending rumors to the contrary which surfaced Sunday afternoon.

ESPN radio was discussing this and one point they raised was a team can suspend a player for up to 4 games without pay. If the suspension is longer than 4 games they must pay the player or cut him.I expect Phili will do whatt Tampa did, and suspend him for the 4 games, pay him for the balance and trade him in the off-season for another WR and/or some picks.Who thinks TB is worse off for having Galloway?I could imagine Owens to Denver for Lelie, or maybe to Oakland for Porter/Gabriel. Maybe even Dallas for Keyshawn. How about that karma?

ESPN has created this story.Irvin made the comments about Favre

Another ESPN guy asked TO about them

And then after the apology, they were all emphasizing how it was "insincere."

ESPN has been both shameful and shameless in this.

I'm with you on this. The whole Douglas incident seems out of whack to me. Here's your "ambassador" accusing guys of faking injury? I'm surprised it was just TO that responded. However, him going back to the locker room and challenging anyone else was dumb. I'm can't believe that if his teammates are as fed up with the antics as the media says they are that someone didn't just pin him to the wall and say point blank "knock your #### off, either be part of the team or get the F out!" There has to be a defensive lineman or linebacker that can knock the crap out of TO. He can't be the toughest/scrappiest guy.To answer the poll question, my gut tells me he's done in Philly (and on my roster  )

Agreedthe biggest thing TO is guilty of is making himself get so easily duped into answering baited questions..

and getting in a fight w/ hugh douglas doesnt seem like a suspendable defense.

last time i checked douglass isnt even on the team..

YEah I was very curious about that as well. The entire Hugh Douglas incident is just very very strange, something is not right.

Douglass is now a P.R. man for the Eagles. He is the Eagles Ambassador or something like that. They like having him around and in the locker room.I think Hugh went overboard though but he did apologize on 610 sports radio.

I think Banner/Reid are most upset about TO calling the Eagles a "classless" organization.

I hear that i mean I know he is family and all - but it just doesnt seem like his position to be calling players out.they almost got into it in training camp as well...

this whole situation makes me go :yucky:

Douglas deserved the TO asskicking he received for what he did to Jim Miller a few years ago. TO couldn't have punked a better guy...

I commented to someone that Maybe Douglas and McNabb got together and said "if we give this moron enough rope he'll finish the job for us and we can all move on"

Not to defend TO, but it takes 2 people to fistfight. The story is not that TO sucker punched Hugh. AND, you have to know that TO won't let you call him out and not react. TO is a jerk but I think Douglas should be getting some heat for this too.

The Eagles will most likely not trade him in the offseason, but rather let him walk. The entire reason T.O. wanted a new deal this year was because his current deal was really a 2-year deal with an extension. The Eagles owe Owens a $7mm roster bonus this offseason and would obviously not be in favor of paying that and assuming the financial liability of trying to offload him beyond that.

Why should a member of the Eagles front office get heat for calling out one of the players? Isn't that within their job description?

Hi Jason,You may have already shared it but I missed your take on this - do you think he'll be back this season in Philly?

What's the buzz among the local Eagle faithful?

J

I think that he'll be suspended for the maximum that the Eagles can justify, which I understand is four weeks per the player agreement. But, I don't think he'll be back at all. They'll do the Keyshawn move at that point and pay him for the rest of the year to leave at that point. So, although I voted for four weeks, I believe that it will be both four weeks AND the rest of the year.

Hey Joe,Anything is possible, but I don't expect T.O. to be back with the team.

Woodrow

People who think Owens will be back don't understand the Eagles ownership & Reid. Neither party will accept this kind of behavior, especially the locker room brawl.

If it were just the stupid comments - I'd say 1 or 2 games. Add in the fisticuffs & Owens can sit in his driveway lifting weights the rest of the year while running his mouth for the media, who will of course cover every minute & lap up his crap. I would be completely & overwhelmingly stunned if Owens plays again this year.

Doesn't mean it won't happen - but it would mean I've misjudged Lurie & Reid completely, because letting this horse's patoot back on the field would go against everything they have stood for in the past.
Every blind pig finds an acorn sometime...

So the Eagles will eat a $7.5 million roster bonus instead of releasing him? I mjight be wrong on how this works, but isn't that a little vindictive? Just cut him loose. If he's such a cancer he'll only hurt another team, right? ;)

Well its offical, he is done! Ii almost traded Jimmy smith and FWP 2 weeks ago in a redraft.I guess some of the best rades are the ones you

The roster bonus is for next year. They are eating the rest of his $3.25 million salary from this year.

The roster bonus kicks in if he's still on the team as of some date in March, 2006.

Correct. Which is why they'll release him after this season and he'll be a UFA.

I'm not sure why the Eagles want to pay TO for sitting at home. Why not let him serve the 4 game suspension and then just wait for him to do something else 'detrimental to the team' (I'm sure it wouldn't take long). At that point they could send him home UNPAID for another 4 weeks, right? Make the guy come in and practice with a group of guys that he KNOWS do not like him. That would have to be worse for him than sitting around watching the tube and getting paid a truckload of money for it.Is the 4 game max suspension per year, or per offense?

Pretty clever. But I think the point here is the Eagles want TO away from the team. That maintains Reid's authority and starts the process of rebuilding the team chemistry. Bringing TO back so he do something stupid does not help the Eagles.

Hi shkr,Yikes. You got all that from

Some like John Clayton are speculating he's done for the year. Others like Steve Young say that if Owens were to apologize Monday, he'd be back next week.

What do you think?

No I go it from this poll and thread being made in the first place. I just felt their was no way hell TO was ever playing for Reid again and thought you would figure the same. But when you made this post its seems that you felt otherwise and were leading the guys in that direction. I figured it was a done deal and was shocked that you would have thought otherwise. Andy Reid is a man of principle as much or more than any coach in the NFL and he took more than could be expected from TO already. After what happened this last week I can't fathom why you would have thought their was a chance he plays for Reid ever again. Maybe I should have just asked a simple why did you think so? I do not think you would have made this thread up if you didn't think their was a pretty good chance he would play again this year for the Eagles. I also thought their was still time to get something in trade for him from owners who really felt that he would just be out a game or two. I just thought you were going way out on a limb here and for no good reason.

That would have to be worse for him than sitting around watching the tube and getting paid a truckload of money for it.

Is the 4 game max suspension per year, or per offense?
He was tearing the team apart and costing Reid all the respect he has demanded from his players from day one of his coaching career. Reid had to step up and make an example (although in this case it was deserved) with TO and regain the respect he demands form his players and POSSIBLE players in the future.
