I made some chili last Friday for a party and the leftovers is in my fridge. Thinking about heating it up for lunch as I'm assuming it is still okay to eat. Am I wrong?
My wife would say three days -- I'd probably eat it. Might be a good idea to heat it up a bit higher / longer before you do though.I made some chili last Friday for a party and the leftovers is in my fridge. Thinking about heating it up for lunch as I'm assuming it is still okay to eat. Am I wrong?
Yeah, that is what I'm going to doMy wife would say three days -- I'd probably eat it. Might be a good idea to heat it up a bit higher / longer before you do though.
Huffington Post says 4 days GB. Enjoy the hallucinations and report back. If you make it back.Baloney Sandwich said:Yeah, that is what I'm going to do
Tasted good, what is the worse that can happen? Bad gas and a case of the ####s, I get that eating chili regardless.Huffington Post says 4 days GB. Enjoy the hallucinations and report back. If you make it back.
Plus, it's the Huff Post. Total leftist rag. I'm sure you can heat that #### up on day 12 and make it great again.Tasted good, what is the worse that can happen? Bad gas and a case of the ####s, I get that eating chili regardless.
I would be pumped for some nice hallucinations though.
Due to the tomato content, I'd imaging Chili should go a bit longer since the acidity would prevent / deter bacterial growth. Which is why you can keep ketchup unrefridgerated. Not that I do.I have gone over a week with chili many times. Actually tastes better..
This is what I was going to say . Tomato - based foods and sauces will naturally fight off bacteria . Week-old chili should be fine .Due to the tomato content, I'd imaging Chili should go a bit longer since the acidity would prevent / deter bacterial growth. Think of all the shekels you are just throwing in the trash. My wife basically will eat anything unless mold is on it. She's very much of the "it's still good!"mindset. Me on the other hand, is a 3 day and chuck kinda guy.
Then again, she grew up in a mixed family, at times poor. I grew up as a Long Island Jew.
That was my mantra in my 20s.If it doesn't smell and nothing growing on it, it's good in my book.
At least you got to 2k likes before you kicked it. Good job.Tasted good, what is the worse that can happen? Bad gas and a case of the ####s, I get that eating chili regardless.

Child's play.At least you got to 2k likes before you kicked it. Good job.
It's the mold that makes it so bold.I have gone over a week with chili many times. Actually tastes better..
Not nearly as painful as the not yet even cooked Whole Foods stuff my wife buys with good intent and then lets rot in the fridge. Might as well just burn my wallet.Think of all the shekels you are just throwing in the trash.
Seriously. This. Stop overthinking it.as long as it smells and tastes ok, its good to go

I use the same criteria for womenas long as it smells and tastes ok, its good to go
Well did you die? I think mines is 2 weeks but here goes...I just ate some almost 3 week old chili. Will update tomorrow.
never tried, what was your experience?
freezing doesn't count here fellaI’d say a week, but I just thawed out a batch that’s a few months old. Will report back.
Still going with a week then.freezing doesn't count here fella
bucks doesn't play.Stays good for quite a while once mold starts forming at top take a spoon and scoop it out. Then microwave and eat. rinse and repeat process til chili is gone. Done this all my life and never got sick from it.
At this point, I'd probable throw it out. But smell it first.I made some chili last Friday for a party and the leftovers is in my fridge. Thinking about heating it up for lunch as I'm assuming it is still okay to eat. Am I wrong?
Not sure I'd even smell it 4 years later broAt this point, I'd probable throw it out. But smell it first.I made some chili last Friday for a party and the leftovers is in my fridge. Thinking about heating it up for lunch as I'm assuming it is still okay to eat. Am I wrong?
