How many Trick R Treaters did you get? (1 Viewer)

We were trick or treating with the kids so back at our place we bought a costco sized bag and left it in a bowl with a sign to take 1 or 2. When we got back the bowl was empty. So we got anywhere from 1 to about 200 trick or treaters, or somewhere in between.

>0. Probably about ten.

Here's the rub though. We literally turned off all lights, put up a sign saying we were trick or treating elsewhere (which was true, I know some of this from our Ring camera), and parents still sent kids to our door.

Blutarsky

Our neighborhood is kind of tucked away with only like 15 houses total. All the kids go to other neighborhoods now. We used to get a couple, but it's been zero for several years.
Same. You have to walk up a big hill to the cul de sac, then there are only 5 houses which also require uphill walks. People just bypass us now. Sad but I don’t blame them. My kids would hit our neighbors and get extra because they knew they wouldn’t get many other kids.

From 2016 to 2023 = Total zero
Last night = approx 30

People have been saying it was the best weather night they had ever experienced for a Trick or Treat session.

Pretty busy night because of the good weather. I'd say around 80.

Lots of parents out in costumes, as well.

First halloween in a new neighborhood that is a destination spot for Trick or Treaters.

Had about 150-200 trick or treaters plus a ton of adults as we had advertised making barbecue sliders. Had some topped with pimento cheese and some with south carolina mustard slaw. Huge success.

We went all out. Had already put up Trimlights, then decorated the front porch like mad. Big soundsystem, blacklights, strobes synched to the music, and a double fog machine setup running through two chillers to keep the fog low rolling down the hill out front.

Then cut the nieces loose with a half gallon of red paint and a king sheet, resulting in a bloody massacre “KEEP OUT” sign that ended up being a popular selfie wall 😂

Foggers got so intense the Fire department rolled up at one point. 😂

Neices went trick or treating and apparently the whole neighborhood was buzzing about the setup 😂

We opt out of Halloween now that we became a destination neighborhood. It’s plastered all over FB, IG, Reddit, and town forums that we are the best place to go. We get people from multiple towns and communities. They shut down the streets and have police details. There were hundreds and hundreds of kids last night with the warm weather. I say 500+ and that’s probably too low. A lot of people go all out with decorations, so I can see why it’s become such a big deal.

We have "Beggars Night" which is always on October 30th. We were forecasted to have stormy weather, so the suburb's Facebook pages went berserk with parents wanting to change to 10/31. The respective cities caved and moved it to 10/31.

Our neighborhood is usually pretty good for ToT'ing, but last night it rained all night. We only saw 7 other kids out ToT'ing, and only found about a dozen houses with lights on. We didn't get a single knock at our house, but we're on a far edge of the neighborhood and our neighbors each direction had lights off. The rain almost killed it completely this year.

212 ran out of all our full size candy. Most we've ever had and it was 45 degrees and windy as hell.

0. I'm out in the country with an uninviting driveway.

Couple of my wife's friends said trick or treating was very minimal in their neighborhoods compared to previous years.

We moved out of the country into a new development a few years back. We were one of the first people to build there, but now it's pretty well developed with quite a few young families. It's nice to have trick or treaters around. We still only got a few dozen but that's fine. In our neighborhood, it starts around 6:00 and is mostly wrapped up by 7:30 or so (dark and cold).

Probably about 40, and that's more than we got last year. We used to get 100-150 when there were more kids in the neighborhood, but the largest group of kids are now college juniors (at the peak there were 13 in that grade out of 65 houses). It's a bit depressing.

Probably about 80. We've been in this house about 30 years and the neighborhood has transitioned twice as families have kids grow up and leave and the house sells to a new family with little kids. So we're starting to increase.

I'd guess 50 to 60.

My adults kids came over for chilli supper, then proceed to drink most of my beer, and hand out candy in the driveway. It's a good family tradition.

We had one Dad comment that our place was always his favorite as we put the fire bowl and portable heaters out in the driveway to give the trick or treaters a chance to warm up if they like.

Less than 10. We weren't there and left a bowl of candy on the porch. We could see them come from the doorbell camera and had a handful of kids show up. When we got home there was still about half a bowl of candy still left. The ones that did come weren't greedy.

The real question is do you hand out beers to the parents for their trick or treat? That is what I do when we are home for it.

We have in the past years, generally a cooler with some High Life and bottles of water. Didn't get it done this year as my spouse and I have been slammed at work this week.

so we had a ton of groups of like 10 kids or so maybe a little less maybe a little more roaming around and then a lot of the standard mom and dads pulling kids in wagons and a lot of us sit outside with a fire pit going and just enjoying the kids having fun it is honestly one of my favorite nights and the more people there are outside being a part of it all the less tomfoolery goes on that is what i say and hey its good to meet your neighbors and all that when i was a younger pre heart attack man i usually had a cooler by the door and for select young fathers toing kids around they got a beer in their bag from the old swcer but those days are past but its a good memory take that to the bank brochachos

Been laying on the beach in Mexico all week.
We did have one heck of a costume party though with plenty of tequila shots for everyone.

Reminds me of this story from last night…. Someone down the street had a cooler by the sidewalk while he was handing out candy on his porch. I heard him shout “No!” at some kid. I look over and the kid had grabbed and popped open a can of Truly from the cooler and taking a sip, probably thinking it was just some fruit flavored water. A bit dangerous to leave it out like that unattended with a bunch of kids around, and not all parents supervising at all times.

To many too count though would say well over 1000. We gave away over 6 costco bags worth of Candy - bought 7 and have half a bag left. My neighborhood is a real desitnation spot for trick or treaters given a Halloween parade that pulls in people from all over Brooklyn. Our house has become a bit of a destination spot within the neighborhood given decorations we do though some houses go even bigger.

We left a bowl of candy out last year and all of the candy was taken by one kid (or maybe group of kids). I had to run to the store across the street to get some crappy candy for the rest of the night. Fortunately we don't get many.

My kids went out with friends last night so I sat in the driveway with a fire pit and our "smoking cauldron" and handed out candy. Watched the TNF game on my iPad.

I think we probably had around 6-7 groups total... maybe 25 kids?

Hundreds, but I live in a neighborhood with tons of kids and it's secluded from all of the nearby major streets so it attracts families from other neighborhoods

None, because we live uphill on a 300 foot driveway lol. But we did host a party for around 25 teens, 14-15 years old. With the great weather, it was mostly outdoors.

Outdoor projector playing scary movies, abundant selfies and Reels, costume contests, pizza, candy, karaoke. They had fun.

No drugs, no alcohol. And at this age, there were other parties like that happening, without question. Glad to be able to provide a safe, fun environment for my daughter and her friends.

Probably about 40-50. Our neighborhood is roughly 25 years old, at the peak we would get well over 150, maybe near 200. It's starting to turn over a bit, so it's nice to see little kids again.

My wife does all of the door answering. Apparently two junior high age girls came and one of them was dressed as Trump. My wife asked for her best Trump impersonation and the girl got all flustered and starting stammering, while her friend was making it worse : "do the one that you do for all of your TikToks" :lmao:

Hey.......take the politics out of here

We had 11 in 75 minutes before I called it a night. Moved here in 2020 and we've went from around 150 to this. I've got a grandkid that went out for the 1st time. Next year I'll probably go to their house and hand out candy while they take him around their neighborhood. Son said it was packed. I always enjoy handing out the stuff to the kids.
