The average intelligence of FFA posters > average intelligence of US population > average intelligence of shark poolers

For the most part, I feel that people who are "truly" intelligent don't constantly try to prove it to other people. Your ability to digest information and conversate with others is a dead give away to those that are "truly" intelligent.
Conversate?

Would you prefer to be lucky or smart?
I sure wasn't lucky last night. Pulled away from the gate at midnight. Economy passenger causes a security concern and they cancel the flight at 230am. Get to the flea bag motel at 5am and am now waiting another two hours for the flight to leave. Fml

Dude you are the epitome of rich, white people problems.

I can't believe some of these names in the "gifted" and "extremely" above average list. I gotta give it to FC42, he really captured the rampant narcissism that exists in this forum in one simple thread.

My notebook is among the best here, I really have not seen proof of this off-the-charts intellect that apparently resides here. Well above average, there are a ton of folks here in that category. Gifted? Not many that I've noticed. Not 17 and that's considering :shiny: and TU were probably in the "extremely above average" category.
I actually think most people are selling themselves short here. Most people I encounter in real life are idiots. Im definitely the smartest person in my inner circle. Thats the way I answered the question comparing my intellect with the rest of society. Compared to people on these boards Im probably in the above average category. I got a perfect 800 on the math portion of the SATs, went to the top HS in NYC (Stuyvesant), and graduated with a 3.65 overall GPA and 4.00 math GPA. Im also an ASA in the Society of Actuaries. Maybe small potatoes to some on this board but people I know dont even know what an actuary is. One thing I do admit is Im getting dumber as I get older lol. So while my younger self may have been extremely above average Im probably closer to the above average group now. Stupid old age and kid making my brain mush.
I want to make a Staten Island joke, but I'm not gifted enough.

and has chet has equated being smart with making a lot of money yet?

That's a good one!
You don't know #### about me, but your obsession is flattering.
Damnit. I tried to quote the post with my ignore feature on and it showed me the post.

I know enough about your intellect and record of success to know that you don't even come close to gifted. Special maybe. Lol

Slapdash is a troll and everyone should get on the ignore slapdash train. Making all stops!

Weird. Even average intelligence should be enough to figure out how to use the ignore feature. However, you have responded to several of my posts with some version of the above bull####.

Can't say that I've ever thought about who's the "smartest of my inner circle." That doesn't sound like an inner circle I'd want to be a part of, CHIEF.

Here is a quote from Wikipedia about "Intelligence of dogs". I am posting this as an example of different types of intelligence.

"Coren defines three aspects of dog intelligence in the book: instinctive intelligence, adaptive intelligence, and working and obedience intelligence.[6] Instinctive intelligence refers to a dog's ability to perform the tasks it was bred for, such as herding, pointing, fetching, guarding, or supplying companionship.[6] Adaptive intelligence refers to a dog's ability to solve problems on its own.[6] Working and obedience intelligence refers to a dog's ability to learn from humans.[6]"

I would say I would rank "adaptive intelligence" pretty high.

Wow. Talk about conceited. krista4 think's she's the son of god.
Well she was with skadden or whatever it's called (I'll be honest, Ihad zero clue what that was prior and had to google it).
This is a strange post, in a thread full of them.
It was meant to be a joke.
Oh. Oops.

ETA: Guess I wasn't smart enough to figure that out. ;)
Or I'm just not that funny.

Smart people often aren't.

I chuckled at a few of the self styled "gifted" myself, though I suspect for most it was schtick. I've been here since the yellow boards, 4 ish years on that board before the switch, in that time I'd possibly judge only Maurile and Scoobygang as being "gifted" (not that my judgement means anything).

I don't think there is a global intelligence trait but rather, as others have said and some theory as well, multiple components or facets of intelligence. I didn't classify myself but I can admit I'm Forrest Gump on at least some of the most important components. If I was above average on any component it would be the less important ones

Please downgrade yourself immediately from "super-gifted." TIA

Wait, so is gifted considered above, extremely way above average intelligence?

ETA: I ask because I was in the "gifted program" in school, so voted "gifted", but I wouldn't put myself up that high.

Here's a tip: if you were in the "gifted" program in either HS or elementary school, that doesn't mean you're gifted. Please look to what you've accomplished since then and realize the "gifted" program was probably instituted to placate your overbearing parents.

I barely made it through high school. Flunked out of my first year of college with a GPA of 0.4 my freshman year. Worked in a factory for 2 years. Worked my butt off and now have a doctorate degree and a great career. I'd say I'm middle of the road intelligence. It didn't come easy.

I don't remember ever taking an IQ test. My dad is far more intelligent than myself and he never got a college degree.

Not sure if this is directed at me or not, but I definitely have an extremely above average ability to learn. School was a piece of cake and I passed the CPA exam without much trouble. What exactly the definition of "gifted" is, I'm not sure, but I was definitely in the top 5 of my class as far as intelligence.

Not sure accomplishments have anything to do with it. Plenty of really bright people are in jail, and GW Bush was the president for eight years.

Actually in my school you had to have a minimum IQ of 130 to be in the gifted program.

In my elementary school it was the same. I got kicked out when my parents got divorced in 82 because they said I wouldn't be able to do it with a broken home. All it did was make me never try in school again until college. My how times have changed.

I'm an engineer, so logic would dictate above average at least. But intelligence is not simply book smarts. Due to the fact my wife just gave birth to twins, I obviously don't possess common sense. Therefore, I'm simply average, which is reinforced by my average grammar skills.

Who voted for: Below average intelligenceJohn Bender
X

Bender speaks multiple languages and was some kind of chess king back in the day. Speaking multiple languages>>>>>high school math acumen.
