You have to buy a phone to use that? That's what it looks like.May try hiya. This crap is killing me.
It's an option on Android unless I don't follow this. You have to buy a phone to use that? That's what it looks like.May try hiya. This crap is killing me.
Noticed that they do arrive in waves at times. 4 or 5 a day in a short time span. Other days just one or two.soldoMy god did someone flip a switch, have had 10+ last two days.
I don't get many spam calls, but I bet I average 5-6 spam texts per week - the "Hey, long time no see, want to grab a coffee?" kindI'll probably jinx myself but I've had pretty much 0 on either of my cell phones in a long time
I did this a few months ago andNot a mobile number. It's my land line work number that is posted / listed on hundreds of sites, search engines, and directories. Don't really want to get a new phone number.
One thing that has anecdotally worked in the past is putting the three-beep disconnect tone at the start of my answering machine message. That do-doo-DOO series of tones. You apparently don't need the rest of the "I'm sorry..." message, you can follow it with your own "Anarchy99 can't get to the phone right now, please leave a message at the beep" after the two second do-doo-DOO. The rumor is that auto-dialers and spam calling computers will disconnect and remove your number from their database upon hearing the tones, their computers don't listen to the voice part of the recording. Humans, though, might be initially confused for a few seconds but they'll hear your voice and continue with the call. Do it for a week or two maybe and switch back and see if calls are reduced.
Otherwise, yeah, some kind of spam filtering/forwarding might be necessary.
I broke down and paid for hiya. Works GreatOof, these things have really amped up over the past month or so. I get 7-8 calls a day now, and I'm pretty sure it's the same a-holes. They spoof numbers from the same prefix, don't usually leave a message but sometimes they do and it sounds like a call center and they don't say anything before hanging up. I already have unknown numbers silenced, but it's gotten so bad where I am blocking these numbers too, even if they may never call from the same effing number again. Absolute scum of the Earth.
Exactly what I do and if it is from someone I need to speak to that is not in my contacts they always leave a VM and I call them back.I'm guessing Android does this too but iPhone allows you to silence all calls not from a number in your address book and they go to voice mail.
This may not work if you need to receive calls from people you don't know. But it works well for me.
Those that get through is that because they manually dialed you?I'm still using Nomorobo.
It's flawless on my VOIP Landline, which is a free service from Nomorobo. We get almost zero solicitations on that line. It used to be constant, 2-3x a day. Now it's not bad.
I also pay for their iPhone service ($19/year). It's pretty good, but within the last year or so, I've started getting more solicitation calls. To be fair, they are never robo-calls. They are real solicitors. Usually political surveys or crap like that. I'm with some folks above at this point - if you're not in my contact list, or clearly a number I'm expecting a call from, I just don't answer my cell phone. All the people that matter text me most of the time anyway.
I have started getting political texts on the regular - probably 2-3/week. I always Junk/Block them on my iPhone, but I wish there was a way to stop getting those. It's kind of crazy how much political crap I get given I'm registered as an independent and actively avoid most any conversation on politics.
Appreciate the feedback. On your iphone go to settings
Search phone
Select phone app
Scroll all the way down and select “silence all incoming unknown calls”
They will all go straight to voicemail. Anything not in your contacts are silenced and you will never be bothered.
If it’s a legit call they will leave you a voicemail.
Otherwise ***k off.
That’s right. A legit business will leave you a message. If they are just dialing for dollars….they move on and no VM.Appreciate the feedback. On your iphone go to settings

We run our business off our phones, it amazes me how many people call and don’t leave a message. If I have a missed call and it is not spam, I’ll call back and find out it was a legit prospect looking for a quote. Frustrating, I’m sure they’ve been burned before by leaving a message, so they are like why bother.
I noticed the political texts mostly came from 3 area code/ prefix combinations so I did a wildcard block on those and that stopped most political texts and calls.I'm still using Nomorobo.

I get those too - and they are honestly oddly on-point. I was on vacation, fishing daily, and I got one from "Amber" that just said, "When are we going fishing?" A few weeks later, while at my son's football game, I get, "Want to come over for the game?" from some other female name. And how about all the Catfish texts?? I get them almost daily.
I would assume so...or they aren't on Nomorobo's list. Their list is pretty well updated, but I do think it's very specific to robodialers. Those that get through is that because they manually dialed you?I'm still using Nomorobo.

Now that has not happened to me......that is freaking creepy.....they are pinging your phones location. WTF is that?I get those too - and they are honestly oddly on-point. I'm convinced some day down the road we're going to find out just how deeply our phones actually track us. I've had way too many "coincidences" with my phone for anyone to ever tell me otherwise. I randomly was talking about barn door style doors for our bathroom to my wife the other day, and the next time I open Facebook, I have ads for barn door hardware. Sorry man - you can't tell me that's a coincidence. I get monitoring your browser history, but I never looked up barn door hardware - only spoke about it.Now that has not happened to me......that is freaking creepy.....they are pinging your phones location. I don’t know how it works but geo fencing advertising might be involved. Long story short, we put on an event in a park, Marketing team put a geo fence in place so that people would see our ads in their browsers on the mobile browsers if they entered the park.I'm convinced some day down the road we're going to find out just how deeply our phones actually track us.
