Naw man. A deal is a deal.fruity pebbles said:If true, can’t blame the guy. Sucks but it’s more money and much easier than having to ship them.

Really?A lot of us thought “wheels” meant car, not actual wheels![]()

Plus, Chet's original post clearly said "a set of wheels". While I wouldn't put it past Chet to buy a set of Ferrarri's, it seemed pretty obvious what he was talking about.Really?
I immediately assumed wheels.
Part of it was, this is Chet. Part of it was, the seller agreeing to shipping - which would have been a pretty serious wedge to cover from someone selling a car for $7500...
I guess I can't fathom spending $7500 on actual wheels. My mind jumped to "wheels=car." I was wondering what kind of car Chet might be buying for that price, but I figured it could be a charity thing or something.Really?

Your response is polite and respectful—frankly—probably too polite and respectful imo. A person is only as good as their word. You guys negotiated on and agreed to a deal. The ONLY reason why you didn’t pay is because the seller was away and not in a position to ship you the good until he returned. That is no fault of yours—and it doesn’t sound like he asked for a good faith deposit from you. The fact that he was still fielding offers on an item after he agreed to sell it is insulting and unprofessional. It might be a red flag that maybe he’s a person that is not worthy or can be trusted with your business anyway. What was his response and how did the situation end up playing out?My response:

That’s probably for the best. If you don’t end up with the wheels—I think you can safely say that you avoided doing a deal with somebody that engages in sketchy business practices at best. If you do end up getting the wheels at your negotiated price—you end up getting the product you wanted at the price you wanted. Both of those outcomes are decent—so I think you ended up playing things right.I PMed him Friday evening and haven't heard back yet.
