***Howard Stern*** (5 Viewers)

Artie has been making the rounds of the late-night talk shows to promote his book.

He was on Conan and then Kimmel.

He looks 56 years old.

He told a story while on Conan about being in Afghanistan to visit the troops. He said that all he could think about was that this is where the production of heroin began, in the poppy fields in the mountains. He said that he had always dreamed about having "fresh" heroin. His supply usually "had been inside the colon of some broad for a week".

Patriotic guy, that Artie Lange.

That was really a sad appearance by Artie on Conan. No regard for anything in life.

I don't know what he's going for if it's some kinda style or whatever.

It's not even real like Farley or Belushi. It's become an act.

He should embrace that he survived and has become successful.

It's not fun and it's not funny.

:lmao: nice one.

are they going to be on vacation for 2 weeks now?
I don't know why they would be.Should be just 1 week. Then I assume they'll be off for 2 weeks from Dec. 22 - Jan. 2, when I think they'll play History of HS part II.

Best part of that Artie - High Pitch argument is Howard acting like he missed it.

"What just happened, I missed it"

He's five feet away. :sadbanana:

He may have, but he definitely pulled it out for this one. Artie even called him out for it.

"Howard always misses everything"

I only caught a few minutes this morning. Did Artie sick out again? Wonder if he fell off the wagon.
Just hearing the show now on replay. They played his "sick" call. There's no way you can't think he's back on something.

His recent appearances on Conan and Letterman make him look as if he's almost gone.

Missed the Kimmel appearance and I heard he sounded real bad on Bubba via phone.

Yea, he was in a real bad way when he called Bubba claiming to have just "woke up"...but he never seemed to come to over the course of a 30 minute interview.

:lmao: very sad. I wonder what's really up with him.

By the time I got in the car Carol Alt was on, and I heard Artie, but didn't hear his explanation. What did he have to say?

He was coughing up blood that was apparently from a bleeding ulcer he found out later. Then he ate a ton of cheeseburgers and chocolate shakes at his book signing.

I am still bothered by that whole Secret Santa thing - Howard makes a billion on the show while the rest of the staff is grossly underpaid - so he stops giving Christmas gifts to them? Thats lame!

How do you know the staff is "grossly underpaid". I have no idea what they make, but I was under the impression he was fairly generous with the staff...but again I don't know.

Any rough estimates, or just plain guesses on what the staff makes?Interested in Robin, Artie, Gary, etc.

I've heard Baba Booey makes $500K, not including appearances.Artie, I would guess $2M, and Robin is probably in the $5M neighborhood.

Jesus, if that's the case both Robin and Artie are stealing money.

I've heard Artie mention a dozen times that he has a "Million Dollar a Year Job". Whether he clears a million or makes a million before taxes I can't say. I'd imagine Robin is around 5M and Gary is around 250K, as well as Fred.

Well don't forget that he's on the road constantly. I would assume he's including his road gigs as part of his "job".....

Why did they announce who they got? Isn't it supposed to be Secret until the gifts are given?

I think Gary makes more than you guys think. Remember the controversy about Artie accidentaly getting a look at Gary's check and then bragging to other show employees that he makes more than Gary?

No way Robin gets 5 million.

Howard doesn't pay them, the company (and previous companies) do so it's not up to him to be "generous" with giving out salary amounts. Some of those guys like both Scotts have been with him (via companies that he worked for or with) for 10-15 years. They aren't sticking around that long if they are so grossly underpaid.

I doubt it. He has said that about the Stern show itself, not about making a million a year combined. His standup gigs are 50K a pop, so I'm sure he's making more than a million a year combined.

From bits and pieces from shows I figure the following:

Gary $750K

Fred $900K

Artie: $1.5M

Robin $2.5M

However I was referring to the underlings like Jason, JD, Sal, Richard, Teddy - all of which make very low salaries. Not to mention the tons of underlings and interns we never even heard of - employees like those looked forward to a gift from Howard every year. He would give watches, jackets, radios, etc - now they lose out because its a hassle for him.

Bad move in my opinion - makes him look cheap and unappreciative.

Agree. It would be nothing for him to give a list to his assistant and have her go buy gifts for all the regulars

According to the radio trades, Stern announced on his show yesterday that he'll leave SiriusXM in two years when his contract expires in 2011. Assuming there will still be a SiriusXM by then....

I didn't hear that at all and I listened to most of the show. Can someone verify?

IIRC, he said that he's "done"...wants to spend more time with Beth, blah blah blah. But then he said that if he could work something out with Sirius to come back "on his terms" then he'd consider it. But if he couldn't work something out with Sirius, then he's done.

It's the most definitive statement I've heard him make about being done in 2 years but even he admitted that a lot could happen in that time. I think this will be it for him.

In the wrap-up show Gary even thinks it might be over and said he thinks Howard will go the way of Johnny Carson and completely retire.

They better get on the ball with putting together a replacement show or they will lose a ton of listeners. I wish there were more options for talk radio in the morning but Howard's ego won't let them put anything opposite him.
