Rodgers did not win the game last night for the Packers. Every Packers fan should be thanking Dom Capers and the defense for the win last night. Its a team game and it is sad anyone has to bring Favre into the fold in the run to the Super Bowl. Bitter much?smackdaddies said:side note - Rodgers now has more road playoff wins than Farve.
I agree with the bolded 100%. Yet Rodgers will still get the credit. As far as bringing Favre into the mix, I think it's just cause of the thread we're in. It's sad that it always gets brought up. Watching the NFL channel yesterday...Dukes and Mayock(I think it was Mayock) both said getting rid of Favre was still the wrong decision at the time.Rodgers did not win the game last night for the Packers. True, not much of a need to bring up Favre...but I don't think smack did it out of bitterness. As for Rodgers not winning the game last night? Well, he certainly was a big part of it.It was a team game and Rodgers was not alone in winning it...he had 2 great drives leading to TDs and after a poor pass, a good effort to make that tackle on Urlacher. But the defense was there for sure...and special teams was just huge. Matshay punting 8 times and getting 5 inside the 20 (close to 6 if Bush could have re-established his feet outside the endzone on the one).Rodgers did not win the game last night for the Packers. I'm saying Rodgers shoudn't get all the credit. He didn't have his finest performance, throwing 2 picks (although 1 was fluke) and not producing much of any offense. I give him credit for going after Urlacher...as many QB's wouldn't have. But Defense and Special Teams came up huge today. Masthay was great. Hester was contained. A first half shutout was huge for the defense. They let up a bit when Cutler went out but they held together. Raji's interception was huge.My point was, people are going to try and use this game as evidence that the Packers made the right decision...blah blah blah. It has been clear for a long time GB made the right decision. Certainly this game from Rodgers, which wasn't his greatest, isn't suddenly the evidence we all needed to see that.True, not much of a need to bring up Favre...but I don't think smack did it out of bitterness. As for Rodgers not winning the game last night? I don't think people are going to use this game as the evidence.I think they are going to use this postseason and getting to the Super Bowl as the nail in the coffin to this argument. It was less about the game, and more about where they get to go because of that win.I'm saying Rodgers shoudn't get all the credit. I think Farve was the most exciting qb to watch ever. Not the best, but lets call him the Barry Sanders of QBs. You watch him, and sooner or later he would pull off the most crazy #### thing you could ever believe.Went to a Packer game this year, did the Hall of Fame tour there - I was happy they have Farve there in the video and stuff. He deserves to be there and I think he should be recognized for his great play.I also don't romantacize him. He loved the game and he loves himself. He wanted to play more so he took it elsewhere. That's fine. The only think I don't like is the whole crapfest about retiring/not/retiring/not, come beg me to play. Favre lead a team to 4 division championships in the previous 10 years. Rodgers has not lead the Packers to any division championships, yet. Did the Press Gazette article say this as well? And, the defense won the Chicago game.Rodgers has as many playoff wins in the last month than Favre had in his last 10 years in Green Bay. 3-0 vs. 3-6.

Packer fans - let's put this crap behind us and enjoy this awesome week. I would like to propose a Packer amnesty for Kev and all those who cheered for the Vikings to win at Lambeau, who angrily wore their #4 Jets and Vikings jerseys the past few years and who bitterly criticized Thompson, McCarthy and even Rodgers in the wake of #4's ugly departure. I would like to see Sho Nuff and Beaver and Eric Stratton have a big three way man-hug in here, in recognition of the overriding mutual interest we all share this week. Let's not mention #4 this week as that serves no purpose. We can discuss him again in a few years when he returns to Titletown to see the #4 unveiled on the stadium wall.
Dumb and Dumber!!!!I love it...every minute of it.For all those who bashed me and others for supporting the decision...I hope you enjoyed it as much as the rest of us did. What a freaking win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Go Pack Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU, TED!
Somewhere up in heaven Dandy Don is singing.61 pages and over 3000 posts. Amazing, but now it's time to shut this novel down since we've read the ending.
The only thing that matters here is Favre is better than Rodgers right now. The Packers kicked Favre to the curb out of pettiness on Ted Thompsons part. The Packers are 2-3 right now, Aaron Rodgers threw a horrible pick yesterday at the wrong time and they lost at home to the lowly Falcons. Favre has more TDS, A better record on a worse team. The Packers would have won yesterday with Favre, they were 13-3 last year and are now 2-3 with Rodgers this year, Rodgers is extremely injury prone and they have garbage backing him up. Ted Thompson put his ego ahead of his team, "Nuff said".
Do you think a good dose of BBQ sauce might make those words easier to eat?Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear.

Also can he not turn into a bitter diva like Favre did. Speaking of Brett. How do you think he's feeling today? Bitter? Awkwardly happy for guys like Woodson and Driver? Impassive? Now, Rodgers just needs to make sure he is not just "One and Done" as Favre was in his career. They both won their first at the age of 27 (according to a post in the Superbowl thread I was reading), now can Rodgers win another one and pass the master?![]()
Favre could have had 4 Super Bowl appearances and he was not a "one-and-done" QB either. The loss to Denver I will always hate Holmgren for. There was no reason why they should have lost that game. The year of 4th & 26 was a dominate year and Sherman's terrible play calling cost the Packers that year. The game against the Giants was a case where the Packers did not show up to play at all. The whole team got beat to the ground that day. Those three games, not to mention the illegal hits New Orleans put on him while in Minnesota, which could have been 5, surely do not make Favre a "one-and-done" QB. The current Packers team is young and ready and should only get better with players coming back. But, this league is full of parity so nothing is written in stone. Now, Rodgers just needs to make sure he is not just "One and Done" as Favre was in his career. They both won their first at the age of 27 (according to a post in the Superbowl thread I was reading), now can Rodgers win another one and pass the master?![]()
This is all wrong. I guess it depends on your perspective. But I'd offer this. The loss to Denver ended with Favre throwing a pick to Romo. The 4th and 26 game ended with Favre throwing a pick. The Giants game ended with Favre throwing a pick. Seeing a pattern here?Favre could have had 4 Super Bowl appearances and he was not a "one-and-done" QB either. The loss to Denver I will always hate Holmgren for. I have never seen a Packer fan that is wrong as often as you are. The loss to Denver did not end with Favre throwing a pick. Favre threw a pass to Chmura that John Mobley tipped away. In fact, he didn't even throw a pick to Romo that game.It was a terrible play call by Holmgren. Maybe I remembered it wrong. That game was what 13 years ago? Big deal. You sit there and talk all kinds of ####, but you are just way off base. He was one and done. No amount of spin changes that. It's the gift that keeps on giving. The best part is how, if another QB throws a pick it's on them, but if Favre threw a pick it's a bad playcall, or bad blocking, or the receiver should have had it, or "he was trying to win the game". It never gets old.The great thing about this thread, and which has kept it alive so long, is the Favre lapdogs who just won't let it die.
Oof!!!I hope people sold high on Rodgers after his 1st 2 weeks... because hes coming back down to earth. And yes, why would any Franchise tell a Legend that they don't want him anymore... they should of traded Rodgers away instead.
In hind-sight, It turns out that TT knows A LOT more about running a football team than I do. I'm humbled and fully converted. Go Pack! Extend TT and MM for life! I apologize especially to Sho nuff for any harsh comments I may have made in the past (I have been away from this forum for a couple years and am too embarrassed to go back and read what I actually wrote -- also I was much more immature then but that is not an excuse).
supThey will still get it from the media when Rodgers gets hurt. (A matter of time imo-given history) They have a legitimate contender...and no b/u plan if he gets hurt. Terrible. If they somehow make it w/o him getting hurt...they're lucky. This may not have as much to do w/ Favre as letting 2 rookies be behind Rodgers on a contender. Inexcusable...and I hope it bites them i the butt. I can't believe people aren't making more out of it. I would be on the phone w/ the Bucs if they really want to let Garcia go. (If I were the Pack!)I know it's only 2 games, but Rodgers has looked sharp. The Packers management were pilloried by the media for not bringing Favre back.I know Rodgers is playing on a very good team, but he has 504 yards, 4 td's with no interceptions. One rushing td.Favre has 375 yards, 3 td's and 1 int. His team is not as good.
