Miami and Tampa may be in the path and play on a day that it can possibly hit Florida I just saw on the Weather channel.

Not that its too early to start planning, but we as fantasy fans may want to keep an update on this as it comes towards the states this week.

Here is the path and projection, it looks like Sunday it can be in Florida.

More likely is further north, per the spaghetti plots. The Carolinas perhaps.

Yeah, just scary that Hurricane season is so relentless on lives...and of course fantasy some times. They could do like they did a few years back and move the game up to Friday or Saturday. Carolina does play in San Fran for what its worth..and its possible the Houston and Jags game gets switched to Jacksonville and could still be effected.

The cone forecasts are a probability forecast. That cone says it's just as likely to go south of Cuba than it is to hit South Florida. S FL landfall is possible but far from a sure thing
Hurricanes are big, they dont just effect one area. Nor does the HUGE hurricane have to hit it directly to effect it. It can be south of Cuba and have devastating effects on south Florida. 50 MPH is not hurricane winds, but is that enough to effect south Florida. People should not just assume it will miss, I hope the NFL is not as they prepare to move this game if needed.

I am only sharing what weather people are saying, also, I heard people say the same thing about Katrina, Harvey, Ivan and so on...downplaying them is a thing, until you can no longer down play them.

The  European Medium Range Forecast Model has it going over Cuba, with some weakening, and then going over the Florida Keys around noon Sunday on a due north course. Other models have it turning north earlier and being further north and east by Sunday. Speculation: a move of the Miami-TB game to Saturday is possible. It would allow more preparation time if the storm looks like it will affect Tampa Bay.

The game is in Miami, not TB. Possibilities are moving the game to Nov 18 when both teams have a bye, or playing after the week after the storm, assuming the stadium and surrounding area don't sustain damage: http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nfl/miami-dolphins/article171178192.html . The NFL will need to decide by Wednesday.

Seems like they could parlay this into a nice money maker by moving it to Saturday night.  A week 1 night game with all of the anticipation would likely draw a decent viewership.  I am sure there are many logistics and network contracts/NCAA issues that I know nothing about that would make it impossible, but that aside, it seems like a great way to turn a lemon into lemonade.

Gees no, no one wants a bye for week 1, has to be better options.

My guess is we see a Friday night game this week. Saturday competes with college, they do not like to do that because of ratings. The years past they had shorter time to plan, here because of technology, they have a little longer.  Also, it appears still too close for game as Saturday the outer band could be in town already. I know this, whatever I am doing Friday will change if they put a game on.

Forecasters say the Category 3 storm also looks increasingly likely to hit the U.S. East Coast, either in South Florida or the Carolinas.

I know nobody likes to give up a home game, but instead of moving up the date would moving to a neutral site make more sense?

I get football teams and coaches hate breaking routines, etc. but this is a Category 4 storm we're talking about here.

Thursday night makes the most sense. Friday should be a last preparation day for tropical storms winds that could start as early as Saturday.
The problem is, would they really have an opening night "two for?" NBC would lose their mind because of the ratings loss. I have to think they will think about business as much as they can.

Where? New Orleans? Atlanta? They are both on the road week 1, but would the NFL let another team open the NFL schedule of games in Atlanta that wasnt the Falcons?

I haven't thought about the options yet, but Atlanta would probably be out with them opening a new stadium.

Postponement is not an option at the moment.

I'm told neither the Dolphins nor the Bucs would want Sunday game postponed to shared bye week Nov. 19. Told NFL as much.

The next 24 hours is crucial for Dolphins. If we wake up tomorrow and the forecast hasn't changed, I would expect them to move up the game.

not even sure they can do it thursday, we've already had a state of emergency declared here in Fla. it's probably going to be followed by mandatory evacuation by the time thursday rolls around ..there'll be no one left to sit and watch an NFL game..they'll all be on the highway heading north. all the models show this thing coming straight up Fla from Key Largo .like its riding the tpke or something.it could be wide enough to cover from naples to miami. spaghetti models showing it going all the way to jax.dont need blocked highways from NFL game traffic slowing down a mass exodus..this storms looks really nasty..

play it in Atl on thursday..or dallas..or hell make it a friday nighter in Atl!!

Attendance would be low on Thursday, as many people will be putting up shutters, plywood, removing debris, etc. Friday is the last good weather day. Atlanta on Thursday or Friday is a good idea.  There will be some exodus, but I'm not sure about a mass exodus - where would you go?

Play it Thursday or Friday in Miami. Simple. Anyone with tickets could still easily make the game and have time to hunker down. This thing isn't arriving until Sunday morning.

You can't ask an NFL team to lose a home game like this. Hell, MLB just went through bickering between the Astros and Rangers over a 3 game series and they have 81 home games.

I see a lot of beat reporters advocating for the NFL to move the game to a bye week. Sure its easy for reporters who dont wear helmets for 16 straight weeks and sit in a suite to say that. But there will be many other stadiums in the NFL available on Sunday. The NFL better not tell me they care about players safety and let teams play 16 weeks in a row with all these other stadiums in our country available. If you want to move it to Week 11, fine...but dont tell me you care about player safety if you do so. Every other stadium better have issue attached to it this week if you move the game to week 11.

Just because of a crisis, dont lose your mind, you have to keep a level head about whats best. Clearly Miami is a bad option, but there are other good options for Sunday.

moving the game to week 11 would be terrible to the bucs and dolphins.. it would be terrible for fantasy owners too. play the game friday afternoon or move it somewhere else

I'm sure no team wants week 1 to be their bye but they do start fairly early and are staggered so I can see this happening. And of course, the NFL doesn't care that it might effect fantasy football teams.

So it appears the NFL is doing what they always do, wait until the last possible second to come to a decision then act all shocked when things go wrong.

Twitter is saying later today or early tomorrow for decision. Thursday is most likely not a chance if they make decision tomorrow, no?

Agreed.  There is so much that goes into producing an NFL game beyond just having the players and coaches show up.  Fans have purchased tickets, and accommodating them will be a factor.  Camera crews, television rights, officiating crews, etc... all must be considered before making a move.  When a decision is announced, many of those factors have already been resolved, but the fan issue will still need to be addressed; after all, this is a spectator sport.

If the game is ppd...that means Martins suspension wouldnt begin until next week. So his suspension would become 4 weeks for fantasy sakes.

My guess, sincet theymet this morning and they didn't announce a Friday game immediately after the meeting tells me they are going to wait a day and hope irmas track moves away from Miami if it doesn't, they move the game to week 11

Horrible decision if they move it to Week 11, basically they eliminate the bye for both teams.
