Hurricane Irma Updates - Mia/TB likely to move locations or date. (1 Viewer)

I drafted last night. Gave no thought to the fact that my 1st round pick was Mike Evans and my 2nd round pick was Jay Ajayi.  The prospect of starting the fantasy season without my top 2 picks is more than a bit discouraging.

T&P's

This isn't rocket science. Play the game Friday night in Miami.
That's supposed to be the last good day for storm preparation,as there is a possibility that tropical storm winds come on Saturday. If the game is in Miami, it should be Thursday night at 6pm, and then the KC-NE game would be moved to 9pm. Moving it to Atlanta is also a good solution.

If the game is ppd...that means Martins suspension wouldnt begin until next week. So his suspension would become 4 weeks for fantasy sakes.
Not true at all.  If the game is ppd, then the first 4 weeks of the season are his 3 game suspension, plus his bye.  If the game is not pppd, then the first 3 weeks of the season are his suspension, and week 11 is his bye.  He would in no way be missing an extra game as a result of a postponement.

Lol, I get it trust me, but fantasy owners will not have him until week 5. I understand what happens when a game is played during a bye week.

True or false, week 11 doesnt matter if you are already eliminated by then? True or false, having a player back week 4 is better than having him back week 5?

I know he doesnt lose a game, but no different then Zeke, wont matter if he is back in week 10 if you already eliminated by the time he comes back. Each week is crucial when you only have 13.

Not that anyone is relying on Martin early knowing this but even one week adjusts a lot. Point being, making him avail week 5 instead of week 4 stinks.

My guess, sincet theymet this morning and they didn't announce a Friday game immediately after the meeting tells me they are going to wait a day and hope irmas track moves away from Miami if it doesn't, they move the game to week 11
They are probably looking at an alternate site. Playing without a bye won't happen.

Ditto..add on Parker as well....ugh!

And I FULLY expect the NFL to take my fantasy team into account when they make this decision!!!

JUST IN: Miami-Dade PD will not be able to staff a Dolphins game once they go on 12-hr shifts, spokesperson tells me. That could start Thurs

So now it comes down to whether Miami would rather lose a home game or not have a true bye week.

Game has to be moved. There's going to at least be visitor evacuation orders in place by Friday.
Atlanta is on the road and that's where a lot of Miami/Tampa folks will go. Makes sense to me to move to the Dome.

totally unsubstantiated at this point, but feeder bands on current track should hit miami friday.  That means game either has to be thursday or a monday nighter.  Not sure which way they will lean, but I am sure it depends on the forecast track.  Even if it tracks south, the chance of weather being a part of the game (rain and wind) is up there unless it is thursday or monday.

Makes perfect sense except you know the falcons want to open up their dome, not let two other teams do it. For all the wrong reasons, this won't be an option.

Alabama and Florida St already played there anyway...move the game to Atlanta.  Least inconvenient option.

I don't think playing in Miami is an option at all.

Dade County is already starting special evacuations and all county offices are shutting down Thursday and Friday. So Thursday is out.

Depending on where the storm goes, they can't plan on the airport and facilities being ready to support a game on Monday. I can't imagine Monday as an option.
They might only have 24 hours from landfall to the game.

Miami players I spoke to are not at all enthusiastic about the idea of playing 16 straight games. Would rather play elsewhere this weekend.

Jacksonville and Carolina are both on the road week 1 as well

Jarvis Landry on possibility of playing 16 in row, "to keep [the bye week where at] would be huge." Doesn't want to play 16 in row.

One Dolphins player didn't think the league would put the players at risk of playing 16 straight if player safety is really a priority.

Yeah I know and I agree it makes sense. I haven't even looked at the schedule but I guess I was assuming the falcons will be doing something to showcase this opening. Is it a primetime game?  Night? Special events around the opening?

First off, I'm just hopeful the hurricane diminishes for misses Florida.

Fantasy football wise, I have Brate and Parker  and I don't have a backup tight end. Very concerned about this… Hopeful that they move the game as they've done in the past with weather disasters. I cannot imagine any team that would want to play 16 straight games.

I heard on the radio this morning that this is the strongest hurricane ever recorded (in the Atlantic). Currently a Category 5 with 180mph winds. I don't know what the NFL will do, but I'm betting they will #### this up. Go to a neutral site. Period.

yes it looks like a strong one for sure

They have to be figuring out the logistics of moving the game to a neutral site at this point.

If they were going to play it Thursday, which is unlikely with Miami already evacuating, we would have heard by now.

I agree with the sentiment that it's hard to talk about player safety constantly and then make a decision to have these two teams play 16 games in a row.

Profootballtalk reports the NFL is expected to reach a decision about Sunday's Bucs/Dolphins game in Miami by Tuesday evening.

So it may be playing in Miami.....just not Sunday.  And it may be played Sunday....just not in Miami.  So we don't really know anything at this point.

Options for #Bucs-#Dolphins: playing the game this Sunday at a neutral site or in Miami later this season. Update coming as soon as possible

Rap just telling us all the obvious right now.

Doesn't Miami play a game in London this year? seems not having a bye plus having to travel overseas would be really tough but then again they would lose two home games if they move this game to a neutral site.

Sunday is bad for players who want to stay in their houses during the storm. Many of them have houses with shutters, generators, etc and are not in coastal evacuation zones.

If NFL picks neutral site for Bucs-Dolphins it will have to be an NFL stadium due to the real-time replay technology.

Terrible idea with all the NFL stadiums avail this weekend.

Bucs-Dolphins game likely to be rescheduled for Week 11 (Nov. 19), when both teams have a bye, per @JeffDarlington. Not final but likely.

They probably asked the team owner and he basically said #### our players I'm not losing another home game

This would be a terrible idea.

On moving game to bye week...

Sounds like good idea now, but both teams may regret not having bye later in season. Another reason for 2nd bye.

I can't believe they are considering no bye week. What a joke the NFL has become pretending to care about player safety.

Of course the NFL would get it wrong. Why would I think otherwise? Stupid me.
As soon as I saw the available options being floated I knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that the NFL would land on the worst possible choice, which in this case is moving it to the bye week.

I always thought we'd see a 2-game preseason and a 17/18-game regular season with two bye weeks happen as soon as the new CBA is enacted. Now I'm wondering if they'll even wait that long.
