I am FOREVER done with The Assistant Coach forum (1 Viewer)

This season I have made it a point to pop in on The Assistant Coach forum occasionally and offer my :2cents: where I can. I dont respond to everything, just WDIS and trade questions that mirror decisions I have faced with my teams or are currently pondering. Not trying to be a know-it-all, just trying to help and possibly get some feedback for my own teams. Nevertheless, I have logged some time on the thread and for the first time yesterday, I posted my own question regarding the Wednesday night WW.

24 hours and one "bump" later, I have yet to even get a one word response.

So now, Im done with it. Tried to be active and contribute. Didnt work. I did everything I could, even posting complete roster and league details and didnt get a bite while I watched the WW deadline come and go.

Anybody else have a similar experience with that useless board?

it's great that you contribute. the only thing i find that helps and gets you responses are two things:

1. make a poll so people can just vote and move on

2. answer others' posts and leave a link for them to reply back to yours

Yes, I have had similar experiences. What I've found is that generally if the question is difficult enough that I feel I need to seek help in answering it, it must be equally perplexing to everyone else because no one either can or bothers to answer it. So why bother, right?

The biggest problem I've found is you don't seem to get thoughtful responses. Generally, you get a quick answer and a link to their post. I usually try to provide a reason but it seems you seldom get one in return. If you post a poll, you hardly ever get any reasoning, just a poll vote.

maybe u could post up some pics of hot babes in your thread to attract more attention. hot babes allways gets peeps jacked up.

I asked a few questions last year but havent been to the forum yet this season. I figure if im gonna make the wrong decision with my team it should be my own and not some random guy from the internet.

You have to leave a link, Copernicus. Did you think that you're such a bad### that the board's going to just "remember" the blessed wisdom you imparted? Far be it for them to not reciprocate.

Exactly. I always viewed the Assistant Coach type forum as entertainment, not sound advice.

Agreed, especially number 2. Those are the ways to get answers. You have to answer a lot of others to get some anwers back. That being said, I totally agree with the original poster. It's wierd how much feedback you can get on the Sharks Pool and how little yoy often get on the Assistant Coach's forum.I usually use it to justify a decision I've already made in my head. It's never changed my mind from what I already wanted to do, though. And I like to help others.

It is useless. Just disguise your question a little and put it in the shark pool. Try an "I'm starting so-and-so over ______ " post. Or "So-and-so going forward" or "Why is so-and-so ranked so high/so low?" Or, better, get into the RB matchups and WR matchups threads with some thoughts on your particular players. Really, the shark pool is an Assistant Coach forum, and the Assistant Coach forum is a Head Coach forum.

You probably should have put your roster and scoring system in your sig. :coffee:

Posting in the AC forum is sort of like making a midnight bootie call....you want to "get some" but don't really want to "give any".

What Red said. Every year I give it a try but by week 4 or 5 give up on it. The only way I've found it works even a little is ^^^^.

Since there are so many threads in there, I highly suggest you put the player names in the subject heading. If I see WDIS with no names, I dont even bothering looking. If its names I am familiar with (my team) I venture in and add my 2 cents if I have any.... I've used the forum twice, and have gotten responses that helped me with my decision.

I find it very strange that people actually ask advice from people who are asking for advice about their own rosters. Seriously, answer mine and I'll answer yours? Ummm....no thanks.

I'll never understand the "answer mine and I'll answer yours" angle.

If you can't answer your own questions, why would I be comfortable with you answering mine?

Watching Headline News right now and seeing a 6 year old kid floating at 8000 ft in a helium balloon and thinking my FF teams problems are BS. Prayers go out to that boy

 I never really understood the ACF.Own your team. Don't make excuses for it, or let other people run it, which is essentially what you're doing by refusing to research and make a decision.

I feel the same way. I don't make ACF posts often, but it taked forever to get a reply when I do & they are just epople saying anything to add their "see mine" crap

What is wrong with being a know-it-all? Bigot.

Threads that are asking for advice on how you should draft or manage your team belong in The Assistant Coach forum.

from my experience, if it's a long rambling post that is complex, people tend not to respond...and I don't blame them. Keep it simple and you should get some responses..I always have.

For specific WDIS questions, in addition to posting in the ACF, I kindly suggest checking out a new site that was created for this exact issue: wdis.net

To my knowledge, it is the only fantasy football web site on the planet that actually keeps track of your specific lineup calls and deals with the often swept-under-the-rug issue of backwards accountability in fantasy football.

Disclaimer: I am a founder of that site. I would welcome feedback (good or bad) at any time as we are fairly new and are committed to growing/making it better.

Classic !! Sig material for sure.

The people who go to the Assistant Coach forum don't care about anybody else but themselves. They aren't the ones who come here to share info etc. They're usually guppies anyhow so their thoughts are useless :lmao:

roster and scoring details were in post. And it was not a WDIS question. Just a post regarding a ww p/u.

I think it is a good service and a solid tool to use. Now do I use , no. Why? Because usually it is littered with guppies without a lot to offer. With that said (and I am throwing this out there for the staff), I would love some type of incentive to go out there and MAKE it a better board. For example, if late comers who miss the early bird subscriber special post on it 12 of 16 weeks, they get the difference (between early bird and regular fees) put towards next year's subscription after the season. It would only improve board traffic (which the site promotes that number to potential advertisers), plus it would make it a viable resource for all of us.

The main reason we do not go out there is because we are willing to read through the lines of the quality posts on the Shark Pool versus posting our real question and taking the advice of the more novice members. In fact, we have a Blogger squad, Game Recappers and other initiatives, why not pay a few respected posters $20 a week to post in the AC forum on late Saturdays and Sundays to make that Board a "better place"?

free subscriptions for those who answer at least 1,000 posts would solve that problem.

If you ever played poker you'd understand that no one person sees all the angles. You can judge which angle you deem is best but most of the time when we arrive at an answer we are so fixated on it that we neglect to see other factors that may have considerable impact on our decision. Football is a game that has a lot of variables and if you neglect just one of these variables or miss just one snippet of news it could completely ruin your projection for the week. For example, missing a key player on your O-line or on the opponent's D-line could mean the difference between rushing 50 yards or 100 yards in a given week. I mean we all look at different variables and do our own research to set our lineup: some base it on past history vs a team, hot streak, SOS, etc so why is it a bad thing to get different perspectives when we don't have enough time to research everything ourselves? It doesn't mean you are any less of a fantasy football player because you seek help from others. After all, we all subscribed to this site for this reason right?
