2 td's per game projects to 32 td's
lots of people have been making those comparisons. It is one game though no career is made or lost out of it. I don't like nobody comparing this guy to Barry Sanders though. I think he will be good. Those that started him at least got good points out of him. He does have nice jukes moves he needs a little more space to be effective. I watched pretty much the whole game and I admit he didn't break many tackles.
Larry Fitzgerald... only 3 catches on 15 targets against the 25th ranked pass defense from last year... Let me have it!Michael Crabtree... only 2 catches for 12 yards against the 30th ranked pass defense from last year... Let me have it!Jermichael Finley... only 4 catches and not even 50 yards against... well... against anybody!... I'll give anyone Mike Sims-Walker for Best. You can't beat that. He's terrible. Trade him to me immediately.
He would've gone farther but they stop counting yardage at the goal line.against the 23rd ranked run defense last year..it's only one game but Kevin Smith could have done betterLet me have it
Honestly, I think the people defending Best with the "he's on the Lions" and the "the Chicago defense played out of their minds" stuff are the ones that needed to watch the games. Best had a chance to get by a linebacker in open space one on one multiple times and never even got close to it. He went down way too easy.Obviously it's just one game and it really means very little going forward, as everyone has bad games. But let's stop trying to blame everyone else here. Best himself did not look good at all today.lol... watch the game then come talk to me budagainst the 23rd ranked run defense last year..

It really didn't.Not a big fan of Best, but the running game looked alot better before their QB got hurt.
...so your saying jahvid best isnt a good talent? he was getting tackled as soon as he touched the ball...im not saying that is going to change or anything but i watched every snap and he looked as advertised in space.Honestly, I think the people defending Best with the "he's on the Lions" and the "the Chicago defense played out of their minds" stuff are the ones that needed to watch the games. Sorry, no excuses.Best will obviously only average 1.4 yards per carry all year. He'll be out of football by week 12.Barry Sanders could have done better.
best looked hesitant often but he also didn't get a lot of help from his oline .... the lions offense as a sleeper offense seems to be a little iffy but their D-line caused havoc (Suh making instant impact)Honestly, I think the people defending Best with the "he's on the Lions" and the "the Chicago defense played out of their minds" stuff are the ones that needed to watch the games. I don't think so. I disagreed with the OP's take, but this is a worthy conversation, and as a Best owner I'd like to know what other people think.Wow. Is there a weekly "Can't the mods delete this thread?" nomination? If so, this thread wins it going away.
Perhaps this was written in jest, but I honestly believe that there's some truth to it. This is why you own the guy. Because maybe in the very next carry he's going to break one.His next carry would have been a 90 yard touchdown.
You have to admit though that at least for this season some of the hyperbole should be tempered. That o-line alone should be enough to start to question will he be a monster. His value is coming back to the mean a bit.How about this excuse: everyone has tough games.Remember Adrian Peterson's rookie season? You know, the season he won ORoY, made the pro bowl, led the league in yards per game, and set the single-game rushing record? Sure you do. Remember the game that season when he had 14 carries for 3 yards against a defense that finished the year ranked 22nd against the run? Yeah, I bet a lot of you forgot about that one.If Adrian Peterson can have a 14/3/0 game against a below-average run defense, then surely Jahvid Best can be excused a 14/20/2 game against what looks to be a pretty solid run D.
Have you heard of the HOF player named Brian Urlacher? Add another HOF player named Julius Peppers and it is not that difficultagainst the 23rd ranked run defense last year..
No jest when I speak of Jahvid Best. I rhymed. Home run hitters strike out a lot and sometimes they walk (score short yardage touchdowns).Perhaps this was written in jest, but I honestly believe that there's some truth to it. This is why you own the guy. Because maybe in the very next carry he's going to break one.His next carry would have been a 90 yard touchdown.
This. The Bears defense has two absolute centerpiece guys on the line and with Briggs and Urlacher behind them, they'll be a really tough matchup for a lot of teams. The Lions don't have the guys up front to deal with them and have tremendous success, and you can't outrun the Bear linebackers. I expected Best to provide more on the ground, but I was concerned about Briggs and Urlacher negating him in the receiving game. I'd actually expect more success against Philly man pressure unless Hill completely implodes.Have you heard of the HOF player named Brian Urlacher? This is what suprised me. He didn't seem to have much of that "it" that the speed back/quick backs are known for. Sproles is like a pinball - same with CJ. Best didn't seem to have that yesterday. I mean sure, he had a couple of nice runs with some good moves. But that's the concern. "Good" moves - every RB in the NFL has good moves - when your undersized like Best you need to have great, break-their-ankles moves, especially with as easily as Best seem to go down on virtually any contact.I'm not saying it's time to panic or bail - just that his seeming inability to escape much should be watched for now. He might have just been a little nervous/tentative. He may be fine and look more Sproles-like once he gets a few games under his belt.Perhaps this was written in jest, but I honestly believe that there's some truth to it. This is why you own the guy. Because maybe in the very next carry he's going to break one.His next carry would have been a 90 yard touchdown.
Lions = bsut. The Lions Oline is the problem here guys, Chicago dared them to run gainst 7 man fronts all day long and couldnt. 2tds are nice but the Kids cant get anything going with that Oline. The Lions are a work in Progress. Looks the the super hype guy to have is Foster not BestBest = Bust
The TDs were just a case of opportunity. ANYBODY could have gotten those
This puzzles me as the conventional shark pool wisdom is that CJ keeps you from putting 8 in the box and someone like Best keeps the D honest insofar as covering CJ.So how did Chicago manage to contain both of them without Schwartz, who last year we learned is a genius, making them pay?1. Chicago played a great defensive game at home.
2. Uhrlacher returned, so this is not the same as last year's Bear's defense.
3. The Bears played their safeties in, and Detroit did not try to stretch the field for the first 3 quarters.
Beats me. The Lions refused to stretch the field. I don't recall Johnson even being targeted more than once in the first half. Even the broadcasters commented about it. I think you're right that Megatron and Best are supposed to be complimentary to each other: CJ prevents you from keeping your safeties in, while Best prevents you from sending them back too far. The Bears made a choice yesterday: they elected to let Stafford beat them with Megatron, and he either couldn't or wouldn't. This is the one thing that concerns me about Best in the future, because other teams are just going to do the same thing until the Lions figure it out.
