Deep fried dill pickle chips
This is one of those things where the idea is way better than the execution.

Every time I order them I'm thinking it's going to be a 10.  Usually ends up being a 6.

I continue to order them, though, and be disappointed.

Whaaaaat?

Have you had one with an authentic dressing? Not that bottled crap.
I've had so many bland versions that I'm ranking it as a whole.  If you're talking about an upscale restaurant with homemade dressing with real anchovies, I'd go 8.  But that's not what you asked.

Coffee moments -

- A latte in a Seattle cafe with David Grohl

- An Americano at a Roman sidewalk cafe with Sophia Loren (in her prime)

- Drip coffee, black, in a great NY diner at 2am with Henry Rollins and Iggy Pop

Agree, although I've had them in the past that were great.  I think the key is getting as much moisture out of the pickle slices and having a good batter.  Damn - I may have to get some of these after Otis weight loss comp is over.

All 10s

Gotta agree here.... though I've found the secret is to be sure they're CHIPS instead of spears (which slide out of the batter). Also being made in house > the crappy SYSCO ones.

had these for the first time a week ago. the seasoning on the ones we had was outstanding.

downside: the molten hot pickle essentially slid right out of the seasoning coating when you bit in to it. so it was just like eating a hot pickle.
When they are done right, this doesn't happen.

Good fried pickle chips are amazing. The not so good ones, which apparently you and shuke have had, are disappointing for sure.

flavor was good enough. just... poorly contained.

definitely going to try making pickle chips at home
Did you have chips or spears. As noted above, spears tend to slide out of the batter. Chips shouldn't have that issue as you can pop the whole thing into your mouth (assuming a normal-diameter pickle and that you're not terribly dainty).

Chips >>>>>>> Spears

one place I go to uses more of a fish fry type batter instead of the spicy cornmeal type batter other places use.  So freaking good
