The PPA was a big deal for us back in the day.  I was too young to get out on a real golf course but was begging to get out there.

A guy named Don Clayton was the main announcer for years and had a whispering southern drawl (scroll down the videos) that made it seem that much more important.  We had Dollar Days once at week at our local Putt-Putt (not an officially PPA sanctioned course - lol ...for real though) and you could play from when they opened at 11am to close.  My mom would drop me off at 11am and pick me up at dinner.  AM radio blaring the hits on the big speaker in the middle of the course, crushing Orange Crushes and strawberry shoestring licorice.

Had my own putter and always used the royal blue ball.

I was the Willie Neslon of putt-putt in my age group.

Nice.

My Mom and I used to go to Putt Putt once a week in the summer when I was very little. Think I went with the green ball.

so this is a legit thing, eh?

you kooky Midwest kids
oh yeah. pretty nice little "stadium" they play in http://northwoodsleague.com/green-bay-bullfrogs/wp-content/uploads/sites/12/2015/08/Bullfrogs-Enjoy-Successful-2015-Season.jpg

cheap tickets, cheap beer, cheap food.  there's a new, much nicer, stadium beginning to go up here soon which is closer to my office and home.

they have a huge 2-level bounce house w/ small zip line for the kids.

we went to a game last year. my kids played on the bounce house for hours. not sure which was more entertaining, the game, my buddy chatting with the players over the fence or watching dozens of kids plunging wildly off the 2nd level of the bounce house.
