Indefinite Las Vegas Raiders thread (2 Viewers)

The New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers are the six other NFL teams that have either asked about Adams or are destinations that Adams would be “happy” being traded to, per Rapoport.
The other team is the Jets

Just one beat writers opinion, but an interesting one nevertheless...

I do tend to think that this whole trade me thing falls more to the hint of a diva WR in the later stages of his career than that of a specific issue with the Raiders. I suspect the move from Carr was the match that started this all.

He should have added some clips from the "Receiver" show as well.

Now, I completely understand it and I wouldn't even say he is a diva honestly. Think about it. You go out and get yourself traded to a team almost exclusively because you wanted to play with that QB. Then after the first year you are there, the team turns around and ships that QB off and brings in absolute trash to replace him. You not only could see his frustration in "Receiver" over this but you could see the.... resentment, maybe?.... against Noodles. Then, quietly tries to get a new deal and no deal is put together. Then the team drops an embarrassing game against the Panthers heading towards another "here we go with losing" season and top it all off.... some cryptic like on social media. It all 100% had to do with what the team did with Carr and even though that was a different regime, it is hard to get yourself back into a 'team first' type frame of mind when the new regime doesn't pay you.

I get it.

Our D and other than him, our offense is young. We have a foundation of players to build from. Add more draft capital, go for a top young talent at QB and this team has potential to be competitive each week, consistently.

It is a kidless marriage.... just go your different ways with an easy divorce and move on.

I am just hoping we end up with a bidding war and get a king's ransom for him.

Very good point.... I don't wish injuries on anyone but imagine a Justin Jefferson getting hurt or a Amon Ra St Brown goes down.... a player that isn't even thinking about it could jump in and be very motivated to give up a lot for him. Or think of just the Jets... if Wilson got hurt, the Jets would have to be all in on getting Tae as their window is closing and if they want to win they have a year or two to do it.

Agreed. And I hope it plays out quickly. (Almost said Swiftly - but I hate her music)
I agree it sucks to have a dead man walking on your team but I hope the Raiders take their time. Using the Jets as a trade target as a for instance, they're 2-2. I'd say the chances are better than 50-50 they're 2-3 after this Sunday's game against the Vikings.
It's already hot in New York. Rumor is Douglas is likely out after this season. Saleh is in his fourth year as head coach with a 20-35 record. His fanny has got to be scorched. How much hotter at 2-3 as opposed to .500?
Then they play the Bills at home. Again a better than 50-50 chance at a loss IMO. Then they're 2-4. Heat goes up another 1000 degrees.
Then they go to Pittsburgh. They could be staring 2-5 right in the face. The Steelers game is October 20. The Jets get the Pats at home the following Sunday.
If that scenario plays out the perfect time to trade Adams to the Jets is after the Steelers game and before the Pats game. Even if the Jets are 3-4 or even 4-3 after October 20, I think the Raiders are better off holding off until then...if they can handle the circus that will surround them until then.
Personally, I think if the Jets get to 2-4 (maaaaybe 2-3) they'll be on their knees pleading for Adams.
At present the price for Adams will only go up the longer they wait. Until it starts going down. There's bell curve thing going on here, I think, and the Raiders are currently still rising on it.

The raiders should just cut Adams and get nothing for him. You know, like they didn’t with an NFL starting QB on their roster a couple years back.

Don’t screw this up, Raiders!
Sigh. Carr had a no trade clause and was completely in control. The raiders benched him to protect themselves from the injury clause in his contract. Carr and his agent had the raiders by the short hairs.

They put themselves in that position. Absolutely moronic maneuvering from that idiot McD. I feel it was mostly him and he dragged his buddy GM down with him.

I am still deciding on who was the worse hire in Raider history... him or Kiffin.

Listened to most of Hondo's podcast. Sounds like when this wraps up, he is going to lay it all out and the "blame" is not on Telesco or AP.

And like I stated already.... if the "blame" is on Tae, I don't even blame him (see what I did there?), as I completely understand how he could be frustrated and done with it all. Did he have to be? No, but I can understand it.

I said it at the time, they had the ability to pay him is roster bonus (was it $25 mil? $30 mil?) and squat on him. It wouldn't have been long before he would put together a list of teams he would agree to be traded to.

The Raiders may not have got a ton for him but it would have been a lot more than nothing.

My memory is a little fuzzy but I think the full salary for the next year was due after X date. Which was 40M +. They could have done it, but didn’t want to pay it for what, a second round pick at best? They got fleeced by the fine print in that contract. We were all stoked when he signed it.

Maybe $40 mil, but any team that signed him would have salary offsets, they weren't going to have to eat the entire salary like the Broncos did with Wilson. It was early in the offseason, all they needed was two teams to be interested.

Getting nothing for him was terrible team management.

Agreed. But it was at the end of the season. The deadline date was before the draft

I know, wasn't it also before the start of free agency? Something like the third day of the new league year. That is great if they wanted to move him. Any team looking for a QB would have another option before the draft and Carr would have cost a lot less than trying to move up to get Young, Stroud or Richardson.

Someone absolutely would have traded for him and paid all or most of his salary.

Sorry, this conversation is bringing back a lot of bad memories. I was very hot about the way they botched the whole Carr thing. I still am.

Freaking "Pretty Noodles"

Apparently Tae just posted a picture of Allen Edgar Poe on his Instagram.
I guess I am dyslexic. Edgar Allen Poe.
So wait, the Ravens??
He did post a quote fron Poe "Believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see"... so conceivably he inadvertently referenced the Ravens and just meant to highlight that route but that is one heck of a co inky dinky being the Ravens are one of his "preferred" teams that is also reportedly interested in him... but by all accounts nothing is imminent though that could change if a team just came out and blew away all other offers.

OK, here is my immediate completed investigation I started 90 seconds ago:

The quote alone could be a coincidence. Maybe not even notable.

To add a photo of the author---which I think we all agree is....unusual in the world of social media cryptic text postings (usually from people I want to punch.) The man took the extra step of adding another slide to his reel, to include a photo of an old dead white guy. I believe that photo to be Mr Adams 'sticking the landing', so to speak.

And how many authors are as tied to one city like Poe/Baltimore? I mean, the freaking mascot is from his writing.

Kiffin is worse than Gruden.

I am just hoping we end up with a bidding war and get a king's ransom for him.
After a few more injuries to WRs occur this weekend, the price for Adams will go up.
Thanks a lot, now I will be morbidly cheering WR injuries this Sunday
I am not wishing injury on any player but simply stating injuries will happen and will drive up the price for Adan’s.

This whole situation sucks. The Raiders had no business signing Adams in the first place. It was a horrible decision for a team that should have been rebuilding. The Raiders have been terribly run for so long I don’t think they have a clue how to operate properly.

Mark had tried to hire good football people. Many thought gruden and McDaniels were solid hires. Not so much doc is right. Making the trade for DA was a bad move. Maybe they can get out from under it with something in return

@DA RAIDERS is right. Davis doesn't appear to be a meddling owner. He hires football people and lets them do their job. He hasn't gotten it right yet (the be fair the Gruden experiment, which I was very opposed to at the time) was incomplete. Despite bad drafts that team was trending up before everything went to #### for entirely non-football reasons.

Getting a new owner, who has zero experience running a Football team, particularly in the player personnel department, wouldn't be a panacea. It would just be some oligarch trying to figure things out just like the 31 dudes doing the same thing.

If owners were so important, why does New England still suck?

I much prefer a team owner like Davis over a guy like Jerruh or Tepper.

I agree...
It is something about Ravens with 99% certainty. I was just pointing out it could possibly not be if you squint and tilt your head just so.

Sleeper alert the Steelers are apparently aggressively pursuing Davante.
Just read that.

One report says the offers have basically been 3's.

If the Chefs offered a 1st, I would take it. Let them try to win this year... he would be a rental for them but since they would apparently need us to eat some of the contract, it would have to be more than a 1st. Would they do that for a rental? I dunno but Adams on the Chefs would put a lot less pressure on the refs to win the games.

On moving the chains yesterday, they said the Jets have offered two 4th rounders and want the Raiders to pick up a portion of his salary too. Sounds like an early lowball offer to me.

It's an awful offer but it's a start. The Raiders said at the outset they wanted a 2. That tells me they'll settle for a 3 but hopefully it's a 3 and a little more or a conditional 3 that becomes a 2 based on incentives reached.

Because of the nature of his deal, a 3rd that became a 2nd if he was on the roster April 1 next year. That seems like a decent ask

So, if it's a one year deal, 3rd rounder. If the new team re-signs him to 2025, a 2nd rounder.

I nominate massraider for GM next time the job is open.

Think things are boding very poorly for tomorrow IMO.
On the road at altitude.
Tough D.
Distracted team.
Payton vs. Pierce (ugh).
A subpar Crosby.
Surtain likely shutting down whoever he's matched up against.

Nix is potentially the Raiders' best hope. And if the Broncos can pound the ball down their throats, even he will likely fare decently.
I'm guessing 23-10 Broncos.
